Re: [ubuntu-uk] Virtual private server recomendations
I'm actually closing my VPS as we speak because I just don't need it anymore. I started reading the reviews online about problems closing accounts so I've decided to start the process now and I'll keep you updated about how it goes. Stage 1: Called them, waited on the phone about 5 mins from the first point of contact through to cancellations. Person not at all pushy, said he would email through a cancellation form to my registered mail address and it would come through in about 5 mins. I will need to print it, sign it and email it back as a PDF if I wish, or just mail it back. Waited about 3 mins for the mail so far... -Original Message- From: Darren Mansell Sent: 26 November 2009 15:07 To: UK Ubuntu Talk Subject: RE: [ubuntu-uk] Virtual private server recomendations On 26/11/2009 14:56, darren.mans...@opengi.co.uk wrote: > Personally I've used WebFusion for years with no problems. > > It's Ubuntu Hardy on a Plesk/Virtuozzo VPS. > http://www.webfusion.co.uk/virtual-private-servers/ > > Ah now webfusion peaed my interest becuase if nothing else they are cheap. I've had to use support 2 or 3 times and each time I've got a knowledgeable person on the other end of the phone who appreciated that I could talk on their level. They told me how to upgrade the VPS to any version of Ubuntu I wanted, what I could do with Virtuozzo and how to enable and disable features server-side. Very impressed each time. Re: [ubuntu-uk] Virtual private server recomendations
Hi, I have used cheapvps.co.uk for a few months now and they have been good, they are also updating their service at the moment. I used a code to get extra RAM, and their support has been ok. Used to use webhosting.uk.com, but they kept messing with the node and rebooting all the VPS's without telling me. Personally I've used WebFusion for years with no problems. It's Ubuntu Hardy on a Plesk/Virtuozzo VPS. http://www.webfusion.co.uk/virtual-private-servers/ -Original Message- From: ubuntu-uk-boun...@lists.ubuntu.com [mailto:ubuntu-uk-boun...@lists.ubuntu.com] On Behalf Of dan attwood Sent: 26 November 2009 13:43 To: British Ubuntu Talk Subject: [ubuntu-uk] Virtual private server recomendations I'm starting to look at the possibility of gettting a hosted virtual private server for a project I'm working on. I've been doing the usual googling and the only thing I can say for sure is that it's a mine field of options, from expensive to cheap and back again. Ideally the server will have around 1gig of ram, 30 gig of disk space, a nice fat pipe the conect it to the web, a static IP and run Linux (I'm prefer Ubuntu but open to others) I wondered if the leaner'd members of this list might have any suggestions? Re: [ubuntu-uk] Virtual private server recomendations
I would recomend tagadab vps hosting. I've been using several of their smaller packages for almost a year now and haven't had the slightest of trouble. Their support staff over the phone are also very helpfull. http://www.tagadab.com/virtual-private-servers It looks like their VS1000 package would suit you very nicely, it comes in at £39.99, but it might be an idea to try out one of their smaller packages first to see if they suit. - Kenny. 2009/11/26 dan attwood > I'm starting to look at the possibility of gettting a hosted virtual > private server for a project I'm working on.
