As you mentioned localhost, I'm assuming you're trying to view your website on a web server (Apache, or similar) running on your own PC. In that case, you'll need to copy all of the files into the appropriate folder which Apache uses as it's main folder. For Apache installed through the software centre in Ubuntu, this is /var/www/ but other implementations may vary. I'd also check that the names you've used in your HTML code is correctly pointing to the files you're trying to reference. In particular, take care of the file extensions - you've mentioned index.html but gallery.htm (no 'l'). I've been using a dropbox.com free account as a testing system for Web pages with _relative_ links. Install the dropbox software (nautilus-dropbox on Ubuntu or dropbox.exe on Windows) and you get a new folder called Dropbox in your home drive / user directory. Just pop your pages and images (usually in a sub folder) into the Public folder of the dropbox folder. On your PC/Ubuntu box, right click over the index.html then click on the Dropbox item, then Copy Public Link. Lubuntu is lxde ubuntu. Like xubuntu is xfce and kubuntu is kde. As a lubuntu user, I think you may want to mention that you do not need so high a spec of computer https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu#System requirements which is pretty much any win98 computer. as a newbie I'm in the process of switching over to Ubuntu, and as I run a small business I use MS Visio for my site plans . My question is what is the equivalent in Ubuntu? Also I've just bought a Wacom Bamboo pad, and I've seen lots of posts on here on using it, so any help with installing the bamboo or using it would be really appreciated. CrossOver Office is a commercial app although it's fairly cheap (IIRC about £20 to £30) and it does have a free 30 day trial available so you can test compatibility and Wine is free anyway.
