No, *please don't* do a re-install. This isn't MS Windows here, you don't
need to do a re-install when two minutes of the *right kind* of help will
instantly fix it! (And we're all eager to assist).

In this case we know _exactly_ where the error is, it is in the file
'/etc/apt/sources.list'. You can find this file with your file-manager, or
Text Editor and view it. We know that error is on line thirty in this file.

The most useful thing you can do is to attach the 'sources.list' file to
your email reply and we'll tell you exactly how to fix it.

/etc/apt/sources.list is a file. Don't give up so easily. Open a
terminal, and run `gksudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list &` to edit it.

gksudo gives you root (aka administrator on Windows) permissions to edit
files outside of your home directory.

gedit is the GNOME editor.

"&" runs it in the background.

You probably want your /etc/apt/sources.list file to look like this:

deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy main restricted universe
multiverse
deb http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-updates main restricted
universe multiverse
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu edgy-security main restricted
universe multiverse

This adds the base packages plus security and feature updates of all
components (supported/unsupported, free and non-free)

If you'd like your existing file looked at, rather than blindly
overwriting, it would probably be useful to attach it to an email.

Thanks,
Dean

If you edit /etc/apt/sources.list you'll find it in there, by the
sound of it. Assuming you added it to that file in the first place.
Take it out and it should be ok. Having that error message won't
'damage' your system at all tho, so don't worry.
