Re: [Ubuntu-US-CA] Best Practices Guidelines
Laura has some additional background about about the development of the Best Practices Guidelines in her blog post. http://www.lczajkowski.com/2010/05/30/loco-teams-best-practices-and-guidelines/ It includes ideas about (among other areas) delegation, increasing use of the http://loco.ubuntu.com/ LoCo Directory especially as it's features evolve, encouraging https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Membership , rotating the chair of the meetings and long term, mentorship within the team. I think our team is doing very well in a great number of these areas. The size and level of activity within our state encourages us to work together toward our common goals. What do you think? [Ubuntu-US-CA] Fwd: Linux Installfest workshop in Davis - Saturday, June 12th
Another local Installfest (Northern Ca/Central Valley)... While not focused on Ubuntu that is the majority of what we install and we will have 10.04 on hand in various flavors. Volunteers and spectators are welcome. A few official disks would be nice if anyone is planning to head this way. Thanks, Alex LUGOD Installefest Coordinator Original Message Subject: [vox-announce] Linux Installfest workshop in Davis - Saturday, June 12th Date: Sat, 29 May 2010 10:38:00 -0700 From: nbs Reply-To: v...@lists.lugod.org, p...@lugod.org To: vox-annou...@lists.lugod.org The Linux Users' Group of Davis will be holding a free "Linux Installfest" workshop in Davis, California. It can act as a web-, file-, print- or game-server, run in a 'cluster' of computers to do 3D rendering or other intense math, or sit under your TV and record your favorite shows for later viewing. Many people use it as an inexpensive, stable, virus- and spyware-free alternative to commercial software, such as Microsoft Windows. It can be installed over, or alongside, Windows or Mac OS X. Members of the community are invited to bring their computers and laptops to this informal workshop, and volunteers from LUGOD will help you install and configure Linux... for FREE! How: If you wish to bring in your PC, you must RSVP beforehand to reserve a space. The RSVP form, and lots of useful information about Linux and Installfests, and how to prepare for the event, are accessible on the web at: http://www.lugod.org/if/ Help! We're always looking for volunteers for our workshops. If you'd like to help, or come watch and learn as others are helped, please feel free to drop by.
