[Ubuntu-US-CA] Proposed amendment to the Ubuntu California leadership document.
Hello everyone, In our first meeting of the year, we came together in IRC to decide what to do about flagging participation and the failure to attract enough volunteers to lead the Ubuntu California team on a 3-person leadership council. It was the consensus that between the limited role of leadership and dropping levels of active participation that a leadership council, put in place by the Ubuntu LoCo Council several years ago, was overengineered, no matter how well-intentioned. This council is defined in the Ubuntu California leadership document, available here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NathanHaines/CaliforniaLeadershipDocument I was given an action item to revise the leadership document to bring it in line with a single leader position. I did this with minimal updates to the document, which was not seen as flawed. The proposed changes can be seen here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NathanHaines/CaliforniaLeadershipDocument While I find the wiki's diff between the two documents is less than clear, all changes from the current document are documented here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NathanHaines/CaliforniaLeadershipDocument?action=diff=2=1 It is my hope that this proposed amendment to the Ubuntu California leadership document can be the starting point for a lighter leadership role and allow for greater participation in the LoCo and its goal of Ubuntu advocacy. -- Nathan Haines Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/ -- Ubuntu-us-ca mailing list Ubuntu-us-ca@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-us-ca
Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] Salem Ubuntu Meeting.
Yep the staff at OHSU are simply the very best at what they do. Although I'm not the one being operated on, thanks for wishing me luck. With any luck, I'll be back in time to attend the meeting. [Ubuntu Oregon] Salem Ubuntu Meeting.
Hi everyone, Just letting you know the Salem Ubuntu Hour is taking place this coming Friday, Feb 17th. Salem Ubuntu Hour will take place downstairs in front of the fireplace at Broadway Coffeehouse, located at 1300 Broadway St NE, in Salem. The festivities are from 6:00PM to 7:00PM. For anyone interested in GNU/Linux distributions, including our favorite Ubuntu distro, grab a warm drink and come join us for some tech talk. Typing of tech talk - Salem had it's first Makerspace kick-off event, which had over 30 attendees with a wide diversification of skill sets and interests, including those from the Linux community. Flyers for Salem Ubuntu Hour were distributed to those interested. Sorry I may have to miss this Friday's Ubuntu meeting, as I'll be driving back to Salem from OHSU about that time. However, while at OHSU I'm looking forward to partaking of their most excellent cuisine, and dealing with their adroit academic professionals. Should I get back early I'll most defiantly attend, however can't make any promises at this time. Have fun! everyone, Phil.
