I'm more than willing to help out with this, but I don't want to do it
alone. I agree a team would be imperative here. Show of hands, anyone?

Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] let's do events!

2018-01-29 Thread Benjamin Kerensa
I’m thinking it might be too late now as I look at events already in
planned for OSCON it seems most have speakers booked and their events
planned out.

If we wanted to do one later in the year we could be more successful but
we’d need a dedicated team of volunteers that can take time off from school
or work and be available the days before and during an UbuCon plus months
before spending a lot of time planning out speakers and venue.

have a breakdown of costs, I'll gladly pitch it to Canonical. How else

For both yes but the UbuCon will take a lot of work and we’d need
significant funding for sound gear, food, etc.

If we do an UbuCon we might want to plan it the weekend before OSCON next
year so people can attend.

Let’s setup a meeting to brainstorm and identify needs and costs and we can
pitch to Canonical.

Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] let's do events!

2017-11-03 Thread Walter Lapchynski
That's certainly something that we can get funding for as well. The
turnout in Eugene was a little small last time I did it. That may be
have been circumstantial, but I think it would be really best if we did
this in Portland. Possibly Salem since it's closer than Eugene. tl;dr
someone needs to pick a place and a venue. Anyone want to take point on
that?

Re: [Ubuntu Oregon] let's do events!

2017-11-03 Thread Cody Smith
That reminds me, last month it was brought up at an Ubuntu Hour that a
release party might be called for for 18.04, not sure if it's related to
the above email, but in my head it's at least tangentially related. I
figure we should start getting the ball rolling now.
