[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 388413] Re: xine crashes on open with X Error - BadAlloc
Yes, you're using the intel driver and xv is working fine. The driver reports that it is out of ressources and xine can nothing do but quit. I believe that this is a limitation in either your hardware or in the driver. Does xine work if you lower the display resolution? in any case, I open a bugtask for the intel driver. ** Also affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- xine crashes on open with X Error - BadAlloc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/388413 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366270] Re: [i945] [Xubuntu, i945] wrong screen resolution after upgrade to Jaunty
Quick fix, in case someone has the same problem: add the following to /etc/gdm/Init/Default: if xrandr -q | grep -q VGA connected; then xrandr --output LVDS --off --output VGA --auto fi What it does: if an external monitor is detected, it will switch off the internal one and sets the monitor to its optimal resolution. An even better solution would be to set-up an extended desktop in the case the laptop lid is opened, but I do not know how to detect this... More info about why this patch works It looks like the original bug is a combination of two issues: 1. The system does not detect that the laptop lid is closed and starts with LVDS output on 2. When both LVDS and VGA outputs are on (and the lid is closed), they get both drawn on the main monitor, the LVDS being drawn over the VGA screen.. This can be illustrated by the following three versions of /etc/gdm/Init/Default. (Note that I am now running with an 1280x1024 external monitor, while the original post was done with 1680x1050 - but is should not make any difference): I. no changes - system (gdm) starts in 1024x768 resolution - after login, I see the LVDS wallpaper - xrandr -q gives: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1024 x 768, maximum 1280 x 1280 VGA connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm 1280x1024 60.0 + 75.0 60.0 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.0*70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60072.2 75.0 60.3 640x48075.0 72.8 59.9 720x40070.1 LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 261mm x 163mm 1280x800 60.0 + 1024x768 85.0 75.0*70.1 60.0 832x62474.6 800x60085.1 72.2 75.0 60.3 56.2 640x48085.0 72.8 75.0 59.9 720x40085.0 640x40085.1 640x35085.1 TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) Note that LVDS is connected (even if the lid is closed) and that both LVDS and VGA have wrong resolution (which happens to be the biggest common resolution - is this a coincidence?) II. /etc/gdm/Init/Default with added xrandr --output VGA --auto - system starts with the correct resolution (1280x1024) - I get the LVDS wallpaper drawn over the VGA one - xrandr -q gives (deleted the lower resolutions lines for brevity): Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1280 VGA connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm 1280x1024 60.0*+ 75.0 60.0* 1152x864 75.0 1024x768 75.0 70.1 60.0 LVDS connected 1024x768+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 261mm x 163mm 1280x800 60.0 + 1024x768 85.0 75.0*70.1 60.0 TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) III. The fix from the start of this post - everything works OK, assuming one has a closed lid - xrandr -q output: Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 1024, maximum 1280 x 1280 VGA connected 1280x1024+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 338mm x 270mm 1280x1024 60.0*+ 75.0 60.0* 1152x864 75.0 LVDS connected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1280x800 60.0 + 1024x768 85.0 75.0 70.1 60.0 TV disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) Note that there is no * in the LVDS output, so it is connected but not active -- [i945] [Xubuntu, i945] wrong screen resolution after upgrade to Jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 385451] Re: [Aspire one A110, karmic] right edge scrolling stops working
Any update on this yet? I have this exact issue with Synaptics touchpad. I can confirm the synaptics driver is loaded and synclient -l shows VertEdgeScroll=1. If I change the value of RightEdge=5192 to RightEdge=5300, the vertical scrolling works again for a short (less than 1 minute) while. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 362883] Re: f-spot slideshow fails with Mesa 7.4 implementation error: bad wrapMode in clamp_rect_coord_linear
I also get this happening. First time using f-spot, loaded images from camera via f-spot and tried to view full-screen. First image was a vertical shot. It correctly showed as expected in the full-screen mode, but the sides of the image repeated all the way to the edge of the screen (e.g. there is no black strips where there isn't supposed to be image). F-spot is then locked, but my computer is still functional. I can't exit full-screen via escape, but I can alt-tab and execute other non-fspot keyboard shortcuts. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 386820] [NEW] X Server is already running on Display 0:
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Whenever I try to log into the computer from GDM, I get a bug saying that there is already an X Server running on Display 0:. It gives me an option to start a new one on the next display. If I say yes, it has me log on again, and then just tells me there's already an X server running on that display. If I say no, it has me log on again and tells me the same error. I'm told that I could work around this bug if I could remove the X server lock in temp, however, the tty shells appear to be broken too. I try to log into them and then they just have me enter my credentials again. I have never had this kind of negative experience before with Ubuntu. I'd like some kind of fix. For reference, my video card is an nVidia 9500. This bug occured with both the 173 drivers and the 180 drivers, so it would seem drivers are unrelated. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 389150] Re: my xorg is giving me trouble(only low graphics mode)
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. I have classified this bug as a bug in xorg. For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue or using the command 'ubuntu-bug' and the package name in a terminal. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. ** Package changed: ubuntu = xorg (Ubuntu) -- my xorg is giving me trouble(only low graphics mode) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/389150 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 316414] Re: [i965] X freezes at least once a day after leaving screensavers or fullscreen video
UncleLev may have found the solution (i'm not on ubuntu anymore): This thread is located at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1026881goto=newpost Here is the message that has just been posted: *** I'm pretty sure I found the solution, in case there are still folks who have this issue! :) :) :) I myself first encountered it today after a fresh installation of Ubuntu 9.04. Whenever my screen would switch over full screen mode, or switch back from it, the wallpaper would show for a split second. Not a big deal, but kinda annoying, especially when it comes out of nowhere. So anyhow, yes, it is caused by Compiz. I tried various tests... basically with all the plugins and options that were already set to default. I tracked it down to coming from a single setting. Open the CompizConfig Settings Manager program and click General Options. On the first tab, General, you will see a check box for an option reading Unredirect Fullscreen Windows. This was checked for me by default, but after unchecking it, the problem immediately went away. For any of you folks who still run into this, try what I mention above, because it was a quick and simple fix, and probably the source of the problem in the first place. -- [i965] X freezes at least once a day after leaving screensavers or fullscreen video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316414 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Hi Andreas, Going forward, we will be switching on KMS by default for -intel, probably within the week. Can you re-confirm that the bug is not an issue with KMS enabled? If that is the case, I think we should just consider that the fix, since we do not have plans to support !KMS on -intel.
