[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 317658] Re: weird graphics with sis graphics card
The problem is not solved as the sis driver does not auto-detect and correct this by default As well, this does get rid of the color/snow issue, yet there are still white horizontal lines which show up once in a while (more frequent when watching video). Marking bug as confirmed as a fix has not been released. sisfb is only a workaround. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-sis (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed = Confirmed -- weird graphics with sis graphics card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317658 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sis in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 365059] Re: Jaunty, FGLRX Drivers crash. Out of range HorizSync. Radeon HD 3200
Hi, I also noticed that the problem got better with 9.6, but on karmic, i'm now experimenting with it, the sriver still detects the monitor wrong (see the xrandr.out from above). When I'm pressing Ctrl-Alt-+/- it switches to 640x480 with the refresh rate 60Hz but the image is in the upper left corner. I can solve this by switching to the terminal and back to Xorg. I've put a skript in the KDE Autorun which changes my resolution to 1280x1024 with 60Hz. The improvement is that I now can see something. But I can't enter something with the keyboard into KDE Dialogs (like the one from Alt-F2). Frames still work. For example I can use Kate. I don't know if these problems are caused by the fact that I'm using Karmic, but I will try to test it with Jaunty. Here is also a PPA with fglrx 8.620 (Catalyst 9.6): https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa TM -- Jaunty, FGLRX Drivers crash. Out of range HorizSync. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 385497] Re: [i965GM] PPA version 2:2.7.1-0ubuntu1~xup~1 doesn't let me suspend
The Xorg.0.log.old has a backtrace in the end, so this tells us that Xorg is crashing when you do a VT switch (gdm then detect that Xorg isn't running anymore and spawns a new session). In order to analyze this crash further we would need a full backtrace of the crash. There is an (admittedly a little messy) explanation for how to do it at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing . Looking forward, however, what we will be able to do with a full backtrace is to forward the bug upstream, and the fix may or may not get into another stable intel driver (2.7.x). What would be more useful would be if you could test the bleeding edge drivers from the xorg- edgers PPA. Even in this case, however, upstream may need a test case with a newer kernel. For ubuntu Karmic, the VT switches will be handled by new code (in the kernel instead of the X-driver). So what would be really useful would be if you could test a Karmic and check if the bug is still present there. See https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-x/2009-June/000578.html for some more explanation about how this works in Karmic. PS: It is relatively safe to run apport-collect with respect to private data. For xorg-bugs it includes a number of logs and configuration files, but I have never seen anyone have anything private in there. The closest thing may be the serial number of your monitor, which may be included in the output of xrandr --verbose (and sometimes in Xorg.0.log) and possibly other hardware serial numbers. There may be privacy concerns when the core dumps of crashes are uploades, but those bugs are usually marked as private by default. -- [i965GM] PPA version 2:2.7.1-0ubuntu1~xup~1 doesn't let me suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/385497 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391720] [NEW] [gm45] KMS does not detect screen resolution properly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel On the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 laptop i915 KMS incorrectly determines the resolution of the LCD. It also for some reason thinks two DVI ports are connected. It looks like it takes the maximum resolution from both (1360x768 for ghost DVI and 1280x800 for internal LCD) to come up with the resolution to use on the internal LCD (1360x800). I have included below the output of xrandr when running with nomodeset kernel option. Jesse Barnes mentioned he knew about this bug when I showed him the problem at UDS and that there was a fix but not in the kernel tree at that time. It appears the fix still isn't in at least the Ubuntu kernel tree and needs to be added. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391694] Re: xorg crashes right after logging in
Just some questions to understand the bug earlier. I know when I started my comp today I had a kernel update. Did you update the kernel with update also. If so when you boot up into grub can you check to see if the old kernel entry still exists and try to start up that way. The other question I have is do you have third party drivers. IE did you install your drivers from an outside source or did they automatically work with the distro? From a glance at your xorg log I see a segfault when compiz tries to load. I believe this gets started upon user login... I know desktop resolution settings I have on my dual monitor do not work right until I log in, they just mirror until then. -- xorg crashes right after logging in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/391694 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 376722] Re: [i945] i945 don't recognize 1440x900 on external monitor in jaunty
I think we can push this bug upstream with the current information. Could you take a look at this proposed bug report for upstream and see if it looks all right? (the architecture is missing, do you have 32-bit or 64-bit?) Title: [i945GM] EDID information of monitor on VGA not detected Forwarding a bug from a ubuntu user: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/376722 Bug description: With a LCD LG TV 19LS4D connected to the VGA port on a Sony VAIO vgn-sz1m, the EDID information is not detected. The EDID information is detected with the 2.4 version of the driver, but not with 2.6.3 and above (also tested with 2.7.99). This results in the native resolution of the external monitor (1440x900) not being available. The maximum is 1360x768. Since the internal LVDS has a native resolution of 1200x800, he needs to add SubSection Display Virtual 1680 1200 EndSubSection to the Screen section of xorg.conf in order to get the higher resolution even with the 2.4 driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391720] Re: [gm45] KMS does not detect screen resolution properly
It is also interesting to note that prior to KMS xrandr thought the two extra ports were HDMI and after KMS thinks they are DVI. The only video physically connected is the internal LCD or at least nothing is hooked up externally. The machine physically has an internal LCD, a VGA port and on the docking station it has a vga port and a DisplayPort port. However, when I reported this bug the docking station was not connected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391703] [NEW] xorg crash during/soon after login in intel_renderbuffer_set_region
Public bug reported: Using Karmic. After the latest dist-upgrade, with libgl1-mesa- dri_7.4.1-1ubuntu3_i386, my xorg crashes on my sony VGN-FW140E. After reverting back to libgl1-mesa-dri_7.4.1-1ubuntu2_i386, it runs fine again. Disabling the mode switching doesn't help, disabling compositing doesn't help either. The only thing that I found that helps is reverting to the slightly older libgl1-mesa-dri package. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 365059] Re: Jaunty, FGLRX Drivers crash. Out of range HorizSync. Radeon HD 3200
Hi again, tested it with normal Kubuntu jaunty (fresh installed). The result: driver works partly. I've installed it with the ati-driver-installer-9-6-x86.x86_64.run package by building jaunty packages. After installation and a reboot X crashed and the PC reboots. After entering aticonfig --initial --force in recovery mode and a restart the driver worked but with the wrong frequency of 43 Hz. After blindly entering xrandr --output CRT1 --mode 1280x1024 --rate 60 into the Alt-F2 KDE run dialog the Desktop appears. As a hack I created a shell script that automatically changes the mode and the frequency by using xrandr and put it into the KDE Autorun directory. This works for me. Good night, TM -- Jaunty, FGLRX Drivers crash. Out of range HorizSync. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 327428] Re: mouse pointer no longer has 1 pixel precision
To reproduce: Start Gimp and create a new document. Move the mouse cursor slowly horizontally and watch the column number change. The column number skips every 3rd or 4th pixel . i.e. 9,11,12,14,15,16,18,19,21. The cursor appears a bit jumpy due to the discontinuities. If xserver-xorg-input-synaptics is uninstalled such that the mouse driver handles the touchpad, the cursor does not exhibit this behavior, moving smooth as silk and able to move to every pixel. Behaves this way in many versions of xserver-xorg-input-synaptics including all Jaunty versions and the latest.(corresponding to git tag xf86-input-synaptics-1.1.0) Running 2.6.29-02062904-generic 64 bit kernel on Jaunty. -- mouse pointer no longer has 1 pixel precision https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/327428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 381884] Re: Appletouch touchpad driver produces jumpy two-fingered scrolling
The jump happens during the context switch from one-finger pointing to two-finger pointing. The reference point changes from the location of the one finger to mid-way between the two fingers. The arrow should not move when the second finger is added or removed. That's why it scrolls, even though the user hasn't moved. Just to be clear that it's not a problem of sensitivity.
