I am on jaunty and have a basic setup with no external devices etc.
plugged in.

It seems there is a patch for this (not tested by me) linked from
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12577

Could someone apply it and at least release a test kernel?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 204762] Re: [Hardy] No DRI with Intel GMA 950 (aka 945GM)

2009-07-27 Thread Liox
Hello everybody,

I've the same problem with my Lenovo Thinkpad R61 which has a Intel
Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller. I know, it was
working before, but after an upgrade of the kernel it doesn't anymore.
The drm kernel modul is loaded, but I don't have a /dev/dri/card0 device.
dmesg gives me no information about an error. It just says:
[ 35.314895] [drm] Initialized drm 1.1.0 20060810
[ 35.319054] [drm] Initialized i915 1.6.0 20060119 on minor 0
But glxinfo tells me:
direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)
OpenGL renderer string: Mesa GLX Indirect
If I set LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose, I get no more information.
My xorg.conf is not changed, it is the original one which was generated by the
system.
The error message in the xorg log is the one which you can read in the first
contribution.
Last but not least, my kernel version is: 2.6.24-24-generic
Now my questions. Is the bug still not fixed for some intel graphic cards? Is
there a chance to get 3D acceleration to work on my system? If yes, may you
know a repository to download the right version.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 289451] Re: gnome-session not started if /etc/alternatives/x-session-manager is a dangling symlink

2009-07-27 Thread Timo Aaltonen
the startup script does exactly what it was supposed to do; because
there was no default session manager (broken symlink) it falls back to
using the default window manager. The script can only test for the
default session manager, and not every single one available. In your
case the bug was when removing kde it didn't clean up after itself but
you had to do it yourself. This is not a bug in xorg.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 403794] Re: unmanaged X initially doesn't show mouse pointer

2009-07-27 Thread Timo Aaltonen
From the Xserver manpage:

-retro starts the stipple with the classic stipple and cursor visible. The
default is to
start with a black root window, and to suppress display of the
cursor until the
first time an application calls XDefineCursor(). For the Xorg
server, this also
changes the default for the DontZap option to FALSE. For
kdrive servers, this
   implies -zap.

So if you want the old times back, use '-retro' option.

I'm running a 2.6.30 kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-
ppa/mainline/v2.6.30/ to solve sound issues.

I own a AAO D150-1b. I just assumed that the touchpad was multi cause I
tested it in win XP and will even accept gestures.

I sort of gathered that SHMConfig might have been going the way of the
Dodo, but I didn't manage to find a better solution.

I hope you can help me.

TIA,

Matt

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 163044] Re: [M6] terminal display error when reading PDF files

2009-07-27 Thread Rolf Leggewie
I have the same graphics chip and don't experience this issue in Karmic.

I was wondering if this is something that is still bothering you. After
all, it's been a while.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 375106] Re: i128 worked in Hardy, fails in Jaunty, chipset i128t2r4

2009-07-27 Thread Charlie Katz
I have three cards installed: an nVidia (nvidia propietary driver), an
ATI Rage (r128), and the Number Nine Revolution 4 (i128). All three
work fine together under Hardy. In Jaunty, *only* the nVidia works.

I removed nvidia-glx-** packages as you suggested. I also modified
xorg.conf to try to use *only* the SG1600W / Number Nine Revolution 4 /
i28 screen. It still doesn't work. Behavior is the same.

Xorg.0.log (attached) is slightly different.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 405387] [NEW] nouveau not supporting backlight, new upstream version available

2009-07-27 Thread Schmirrwurst
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I experience problems with backlight. the nouveau driver, seems to have
done something for it, but the code is from the day before the git
release packaged currently under karmic...

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/nouveau/linux-2.6/commit/?id=4df79d74cf77cad4c27348b3299fb6e046883105

I don't know if it is not working for me because the package didn't
include yet that change, or if the fix doesn't work...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 387275] Re: Notify OSD bubbles flicker badly with Hedgewars full-screen

2009-07-27 Thread Bryce Harrington

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the
original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against
the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we
may be able to pass upstream for help.

It seems likely to me this bug is gone; the -intel driver has improved
immensely in Karmic and a lot of bugs are being reported as no longer
present. So hopefully that's the case here too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 384318] Re: Xserver breaks when trying testxv with intel

2009-07-27 Thread Bryce Harrington

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the
original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to
reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against
the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we
may be able to pass upstream for help.

It seems likely to me this bug is gone; the -intel driver has improved
immensely in Karmic and a lot of bugs are being reported as no longer
present. So hopefully that's the case here too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 373780] Re: [i945gm] Slow intel graphics -- doesn't autodetect UseFBDev
