Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 411186] Re: nouveau DRM fails to install
Actually, this isn't quite a nouveau bug; the problem here is that the initramfs forcibly loads the i915 driver before pretty much anything else happens. This loads the drm module from the initramfs, which isn't the same version as the one nouveau needs (and is in updates/dkms). When nouveau tries to load, it can't load the newer drm module (because there's one already loaded), and so it fails to load entirely. I _think_ that if you rebuild your initramfs after installing nouveau-kernel-source, then the newer drm module will end up in the initramfs. I'm not sure about this, however. I'm also not sure what else nouveau could do about this; it's really an update-initramfs problem. -- nouveau DRM fails to install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/411186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 394489] Re: cannot get official via driver for s3 unichrome pro cn700 for ubuntu 8.10 intrepid to work with it!
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome + + Hardware: gateway mx3210 laptop ok so, for the longest time, via hadn't released any drivers, thus, the openchrome project was started... well, thats not what i'm here for, originally, i found out when via released the UBUNTU 7.10 drivers for my cn700 model s3 unichrome pro IGP... but they were not compatible with ubuntu 8.04 or ubuntu 8.10, which really bothered me... so finally the other day, i check if they've updated them by chance... and they have! finally i think, i've got a breakthrough for linux on this laptop! (gateway mx3210 craptop) anyway... i dont run windoze anymore. i run purely ubuntu 8.10 right now... with this video card, by default, it works with glx gears nice and fast but... it has some issue i guess with the videoram and stuff, and doesnt do 3d, but... so that leads to having flash enabled being instable, aswell as, it shuts right off the same when i stream webcam on aMSN aswell! youtube will kill it if flash is enabled, and well.. i really really really want to get this thing working fully... i got the official, proper 2d and 3d driver for this chipset, and this version of ubuntu (intrepid ibex) yet... when i follow the install instructions, it screws up upon restart, and i have to uninstall it, and re-hack my xorg.conf to work with the damn display resolution (1280x768) i'd really LOVE to know why... and I'd really love the solution to my problem they've released it, yet it doesnt seem to work for me, can anyone help? upon restart after installing the official driver it is black screen with X cursor and then the grey window in the center pops up saying, it was unable to detect my video card/display/etc and, i need to reconfigure my graphics... then i have to fix it all back to how it is now, and then... GRRR i just want things to work, and my computer not to shut off all the time... like, how come its screwing up, its the right driver, for this version... i dont get it... what am i missing? anyone know? -- cannot get official via driver for s3 unichrome pro cn700 for ubuntu 8.10 intrepid to work with it! https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 383305] [NEW] OpenOffice Impress Projector Resolution/Display/Screen Problems
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Today I had a embarrassing and frustrating experience with OpenOffice 3.0.1 Impress in Ubuntu 9.04. I was giving a talk at an engineering conference. When it was my turn to present, I plugged in the projector, went to the display control panel, and turned on the output to the external monitor. I ran my presentation, but when I went to full-screen mode, only part of the screen was visible on the projector. I moved the presentation up to the second virtual screen, then tried to re-run it full screen. My whole graphics card crashed at that point, maybe because I'm using the terrible intel graphics onboard driver. My advisor luckily had another laptop with the presentation on it, but when we fired up his, the same thing happened. We couldn't get it to look right on the projector. Finally, in desperation, we went to the Slide Settings in openoffice and changed it from full screen to window. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 411704] [NEW] intermittent system crashes supposedly caused by intel xorg driver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Started about a week ago and now, it's really becoming a pain in my ass. My Ubuntu Jaunty system now crashes/hangs/soft-freezes(whatever) more than 6 times daily. First I thought it was becuause of the new intel driver that I installed after following some steps mentioned on Ubuntu Forums, after which Ireverted back to the original Ubuntu Jaunty intel driver and then the nightmare really started. No matter what I am doing, the system always crashes even when it is idle !. So I thought it was time to look at my system logs to see what the hell was going on. I found out that the evry time that my system crashes, it always logs an error about this: drm:i915_getparam. Guess it had something to do with intel drivers Aug 9 19:37:56 ajibola-laptop kernel: [15118.757075] nautilus[3905]: segfault at b4efc7b7 ip b4efc7b7 sp b460d160 error 4 in libgpg- error.so.0.3.0[b4f0+3000] Aug 9 19:37:56 ajibola-laptop kernel: [15118.757075] nautilus[3905]: segfault at b4efc7b7 ip b4efc7b7 sp b460d160 error 4 in libgpg- error.so.0.3.0[b4f0+3000] Aug 9 19:38:06 ajibola-laptop kernel: [15128.319590] [drm:i915_get_vblank_counter] *ERROR* trying to get vblank count for disabled pipe 0 Aug 9 19:38:07 ajibola-laptop kernel: [15129.937463] dropbox[4042]: segfault at b1f9fffc ip b6482f6c sp b1fa error 6 in libwx_baseud-2.8.so.0[b63ca000+19a000] Aug 10 23:10:53 ajibola-laptop kernel: [ 6877.700790] [drm:i915_getparam] *ERROR* Unknown parameter 6 the log extracts above are just some of the weird erros I get when my system crashes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 357551] Re: [HD 3400] jaunty doesn't resume from hybernation
I have a Toshiba A505-S6965 that has a ATI Radeon HD 4570. I have the same problem. When I suspend, it comes up with the background, but never gets any further. I have successfully ssh'd into the box and have the dmesg, kern, pm-suspend logs attached. Perhaps the money line is: Aug 9 17:48:27 toshiba-laptop kernel: [74570.312008] [fglrx] ASIC hang happened I booted the live cd and it suspended fine with the radeon driver. I tried to remove the restricted driver but it was unsuccessful and I ended up having to do a complete reinstall. Now I'm using the 2D Radeon driver and can suspend (this is mission critical for me in the way I use my laptop) but I sure would like the ability to use the 3D features of the card. I also tried the https://edge.launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa and the updated driver for fglrx didn't help it. I hope that this thread doesn't close since this remains an unfixed problem. Are there any settings that might be helpful? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 316081] Re: [i845] [Inspiron 1100] Fails to detect laptop flatpanel screen (i845)
Larry, for various reasons including ease of workflow, we prefer that closed xorg-bugs are only reopened by their original reporters. We would prefer if you could file a new report with `ubuntu-bug -p xserver-xorg- video-intel`. That way we get _your_ (and only your) versions of all the various logs we need. I know the bug reporting process at Launchpad is encouraging very strongly to check for other bugs that describe the same issue, and that is quite unfortunate for xorg. It would be great if you could close this bug again and open a new bug, possibly referencing this bug report in the description. -- [i845] [Inspiron 1100] Fails to detect laptop flatpanel screen (i845) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/316081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 311484] Re: [i965] Lenovo U110 X3100 black screen
oneleaf, in Karmic we are now using KMS and because of that it would be great if we could also get the output of dmesg when it fails. You may get that by using ssh to log in from another computer after installing the openssh-server package. Is the new Xorg.2.log from an installed system or a LiveCD? Is the same xorg.conf as before used? If it is, could you check if removing it makes any difference? Your Xorg.2.log stops rather abruptly, so possible xorg crashes or hangs. We may need to get a backtrace to understand what is going on. It would be nice if you could check out https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing and see if you are able to get a backtrace using any of the methods listed there. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- [i965] Lenovo U110 X3100 black screen https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
