[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 425372] Re: GeForce 7050 PV does not work on karmic alpha-5 - shows video corruption
OBSERVATION: Happens to me too. Datapoint: lspci says the Adapter is: nVidia Corporation C68 [GeForce 7050 PV / nForce 630a] (rev a2) I got a garbled screen on X startup, but I could drop to console and manually install nvidia-glx the way detailed in comment #9 . I didn't try to boot into safe mode, so no idea whether that would have worked. EXPECTATION: X should start without trouble, perhaps by falling back to a safe default. -- GeForce 7050 PV does not work on karmic alpha-5 - shows video corruption https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/425372 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 481195] [NEW] Vertical arrangement of two monitors hangs Xorg. (monitors.xml)
Public bug reported: Laptop 1400x1050, attached monitor, 1280x1024 - vertical arrangement. Monitor is above, laptop below. I'd like to setup it like this via the Preferences-Screen. After such arrangement Xorg hangs. It's only possible to recover by jumping to text console, editing monitors.xml, then kill Xorg. It's possible to almost-arrange by reducing starting point of lower (laptop) screen from 1024 to 1023, but after such operation windows cannot be moved between monitors. Increasing to 1025 - is also almost nice, because windows can be moved between, but after maximizing there is no title bar accessible. Horizontal arrangement works ok, so I assume it's a bug. I add monitors.xml.ok monitos.xml.bad top Xorg logs Gregers ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Thu Nov 12 08:40:51 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/Xorg MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq nc6320 (EY401EA#AKD) Package: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.6.4-2ubuntu4 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: root=UUID=d291c72f-d091-47aa-bf59-e81c36d54901 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=pl_PL.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-15.50-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu10 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0-1ubuntu4 libdrm2 2.4.14-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2 xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.12.99+git20090929.7968e1fb-0ubuntu1 SourcePackage: xorg-server Uname: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic i686 dmi.bios.date: 02/21/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard dmi.bios.version: 68YDU Ver. It seems I can confirm this on a Dell D600. Even xorg-edgers _lucid_ (including mouse, evdev, synaptics, xorg-server 1.7.99 etc.) does not seem to solve the problem. Tried around with some HAL policy changes as well (with hal/gdm stop+start cycle), but didn't find anything I could switch that would help somehow (evdev - synaptics and vice versa, either did not help or something stopped working). -- Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444674 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444674] Re: Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment
I suspect this bug is related (but perhaps not identical) to the problem that Andy Isaacson reported on here: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-input/msg04193.html Most of the times, I can unstuck the button and get the missing button-release event by moving the pointer with the touchpad (but not with the pointing stick). I booted the kernel with i8042.debug=1, and looked at the output from i8042.c in /var/log/kern.log. For normal ButtonPress and ButtonRelease events, I get six bytes of data (details attached): press: ff 69 28 29 5d 00 release: ff 69 28 28 5d 00 But occasionally when I release the button, I get what looks like an additional ButtonPress event, plus an additional six bytes of data: ff 69 28 29 5d 00 ff 00 00 08 00 7f This results in a missed ButtonRelease event. ** Attachment added: Output from i8042.c http://launchpadlibrarian.net/35578385/kern.log -- Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/444674 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 470422] Re: [Q45] 1600x1200 resolution is not available on the 2nd monitor (it was on ubuntu 9.04)
Your test confirms that this particular problem is fixed upstream, most likely by the patch mentioned in the upstream bug report. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds for more information about the mainline kernel builds. I don't know enough about VMWare or the kernel to tell if the VMWare problems is a bug or simply due to something ubuntu-specific which is not included in the mainline build. You may try Lucid, which currently has a kernel based on 2.6.32-rc6 (see http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/info/kernel-version-map.html). It is very early in the Lucid release cycle, so don't expect it to be stable, but if it starts all right for you and the problem is there as well, please file a bug report using `ubuntu-bug linux`. You may also have some luck trying VMWare forums with the specific error messages you get during compilation. They may tell you what the problem is. -- [Q45] 1600x1200 resolution is not available on the 2nd monitor (it was on ubuntu 9.04) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/470422 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 456902] Re: [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in
I tried passing nomodeset to the kernel on boot to disable KMS, but still get identical freezes. I will post a tarball of debugging info as soon as I can. (Desktop effects have been off the whole time I've seen this bug.) Interestingly, while 1280x1024 resolution is not available anymore (and was available under jaunty!), it becomes available if I pass nomodeset to the kernel. Same freezes, though. I also tried the xorg-edgers ppa with both the stock karmic kernel and with the newest mainline kernel from kernel-ppa. With xorg-edgers and the stock karmic kernel, I get identical freezes. With the newest mainline kernel from kernel-ppa and xorg-edgers, I get a freeze that behaves somewhat differently and seems to happen more frequently - plus there are i915 errors printed on the first virtual console about rendering errors with this kernel/xorg combination. If I have a chance I can submit tarballs of debugging info for all combinations of kernel/xorg I've tried, but I'm unsure that it's the same bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 421347] Re: [i945gm] gnome-power-manager and blanking (removal of bodges)
Confirmed on Toshiba Satellite U405-S2826, Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03). Honestly, hardcoding (unclickable) links to some blog post in Gnome, instead of fixing the problem source is quite strange. -- [i945gm] gnome-power-manager and blanking (removal of bodges) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421347 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
