[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 444674] Re: Mouse behaves strange on clicking in graphical environment
A workaround of putting a line options psmouse proto=exps in /etc/modprobe.d/psmouse.conf seems to work for me. Therefore the bug is in the psmouse kernel driver detection code? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 406865] Re: [GM45] 3D applications fail to run in WINE
Well concerning at least 9.04, it was in the middle of the EXA - UXA transition with new stuff coming in like KMS and GEM, therefore things were not really stable back then (and as far as I recall also fedora had plenty of problems at that stage). If you want to stick with ubuntu you'll need to add a PPA repository containing newer packages, especially the xserver video drivers and mesa, or take a look at lucid. For the thread: glxgears is not a benchmark, cfr. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/IntelPerformance Lastly, concerning this specific issue video size should not make too much of a difference, I'm actually not sure how wine uses this value, if only to report a size to applications asking for it or if it actually really matters internally. -- [GM45] 3D applications fail to run in WINE https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/406865 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Phil, thank you for pointing me to the xorg.conf. It takes the form of a chequered effect, looking a bit like a chequer / checkerboard. The menus in KeePassX are corrupted. In KDE, this is much more noticeable right away in the the menu and the ublog on the desktop. When using the fglrx driver the effect does not show when the screen is greyed, though the theme previews do still show the same corruption. - An attachment shows a screenshot of the grey screen effect. + An attachment shows a screenshot of the grey screen effect. To report further, the system worked well for a few days and froze once again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 506467] [NEW] Lucid would not boot with USB devices attached
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When booting with USB devices, it stops with the message 'unable to enumerate USB device on port X', X being sometimes 1 and sometimes 2. It is followed by the message 'buffer I/O error, dev sr1, sector XX' repeated for differing sectors. Ctrl+Alt+Delete is the only way out. Recovery mode returns to a login. I detached all my USB devices and was then able to boot. I suspect it's my cooling pad which has 4 unused USB ports, allegedly USB 2, but I suspect they're really USB 1. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Re: support graphics card hot switch
@Moritz, I am in a support position where I often have to rely on third party information to guide people through solutions and workarounds. Having a screenshot handy beats any should be obvious explanation, it's also best to illustrate such workaround in any documentation :) A *huge* thanks for taking the time to do this. Although I can't dedicate the time required to take advantage of them right now, I'd rather ask for the information and either hope someone will get to push them to the wiki or else - or maybe I'll do it when I need to in the future. -- support graphics card hot switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/312756 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Nvidia on/off
Hi everybody, since I'm following the thread from a long time, I'm getting more and more doubtful about the nvidia state. Actually, I'm just using the acpi_osi=Windows 2006! way to use both cards (cold switching) on Fedora 12. But I'm wondering wether it's really the good way. I've never used the kernel module which is often spoken about (see in the quoted mail). However, it seems to me as if it was ok. As if, the cold switching was just all right. Nothing else to do. What are the positive uses of this kernel module ? Doesn't the switching just switch off the second graphic card ? When I'm on stamina, lspci | grep -i nv doesn't show any card. When I'm on speed, I suppose we cannot disable the intel one (but I actually don't care since it's not a big problem : we want graphic power, not battery time). When the led's switched off (no light), then I can see both card, but only the intel one is working (but that doesn't look like the winning way for the nvidia card is also working and eating battery time). I wonder if the nvidia card off also means it's not using battery ? Is it what the kernel module is intended to ? Or something else ? Thanks for the great work Alexandre Kaspar Narciso Cerezo narc...@elondra.com a écrit : @toni Hi, the way to kill (disable) the nvidia card is through a contributed kernel module: http://linux-hybrid-graphics.blogspot.com/2009/12/solution-to-switch-off-nvidia-card-in.html I will check again if a BIOS update is available for my Asus UL50VT, but there was no option to change between cards or modes as your Lenovo has :( The BIOS should have such an option, it is not like choosing at boot time or like switching it live, but will do the trick in the mean time. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 496890] Re: Garbled screen when disabling internal display on macbook
I observe a similar problem. I have Dell Latitude D620, and external display works fine until I try to disable internal screen. When I disable, I get small visual issues all over. I attach a couple of images. First image is a screenshot of konsole. It shows a text cursor (white block), but two characters later there's stay underscore. It randomly appears -- e.g. if I start typing first character somethings gets struck with underscore. Second screenshot is from kmail. Note that some items have bluish underline. This appears when I hover over items with the mouse. The item under mouse is highlighted in blue -- which is expected. But then when I move mouse, the buttom part of this highlight sticks. It almost looks like there's off-by-something bug caused by absent first monitor. -- Garbled screen when disabling internal display on macbook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496890 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 504860] [NEW] Strange stripes all around the screen after maximizing and then shrinkening again the tetris window.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: gnome-games I started gnometris, maximised the window (just for fun) and started the game.
