[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 519801] Re: X server freezes randomly
Left memtest running for 8 hrs - no error. Lucid was working ok for 2hrs, but then I didn't run the usual workload (chromium, netbeans) Might I add januty was running fine for weeks. After upgrade to karmic (not a clean install) stuff started to break. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 520344] [NEW] Two finger scrolling on Acer aspire 1410 (1080T) does not work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics Ubuntu release: 9.10 Package version: 1.1.2-1ubuntu7 Expected behavior: Set two finger scrolling in mouse properties would work What happened instead: Two finger scrolling only works with edge scrolling This bug is the same than bugs #44 and #476866 but on different hardware. The touchpad is definitely multi-touch capable as windows 7 behavior shows. The workarounds in the related bugs are multi-touch emulation and therefore not acceptable. This affects many different computers and seems to indicate that a fundamental bug in the driver impacts on all of us. Thanks if you show some interest for this issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 410264] Re: Translations: .pot template files missing, existing .po files won't be used
** Description changed: When scanning the import queue in Launchpad Rosetta for issues that need manual intervention, I found the following issue with the mesa package which prevents a smooth import into Launchpad Rosetta and causes the Ubuntu Translation Coordinators to manually adjust or remove .po files. In the /obj-i686-linux-gnulp/* directories (and even for all the other architectures) the .pot template files are missing. Therefore corresponding .po files cannot be imported into Rosetta and won't appear in the language-packs. If the translations are not used anyways, please consider to remove all the directories containing .po files. If the translations should be used, please fix the build script to actually build the .pot file. There are lots of directories in those files, I'm not reporting them all here, but they usually are: /src/ /obj-ARCH-linux-gnu/ /obj-ARCH-linux-gnulp/ - For general guidelines how to ensure smooth imports into Launchpad Rosetta, please see: - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation#Verifying%20translation%20uploads + For general guidelines how to ensure smooth imports into Launchpad + Translations, please see: + + * https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation/Packaging#Translation%20templates + * https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuDevelopment/Internationalisation/RecipeVerifyingTranslationUploads + + (Or for some general background): + * https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Translations/TranslationLifecycle -- Translations: .pot template files missing, existing .po files won't be used https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 255008] Re: Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen]
I've marked Bug #512622, filed myself, as duplcate of this bug. It is describing the wiredness mentioned in Bug #254939 which I also marked as duplcate. I'm aware it does so in a confusing manner. Lucid Lynx is also affected. In the essence my search which also led me here, ends up to following: Introducing evdev managing keybords resulted in changing keymapping of the non ascii keys (guess!) in a non reasonable way. Did all that keyboards out there change the same? ;o)) At least this is incompatible to xmodmapfiles created for xfree86 driven keyboards. from my point of view solution could be: most elegant: - make evdev output reasonble (i.e xfree86/xmodmap compatible, for all that keyboards out there already are ;o)) ) if evdev output is reasonable in any way (I don't believe): - make xmodmap detect evdev driven keyboard and handle apropriately or worse: - kick xmodmap to avoid confusion grml.org team (recent debian testing) solved that problem by managing the keybord by xfree86 and all the rest by evdev (don't know how, but it works as expected with my old xmodmap files) Worst case in my opinion is to kick xmodmap, because we will loose xkeycaps - a great tool to manage complexity of keybord issues in a quit easy and portable manner. I'm not really an expert, so maybe I'm lost completely with this. Other conclusions ending in a working solution for this pain always apreciated. :o)) -- Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen] https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/255008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 520519] [NEW] Expose Dashboard keys don't work on Apple MacBook / MacBook Pro
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config X.org keyboard database in Ubuntu Karmic doesn't provide keycode mappings nor keysyms for Apples Expose Dashboard keys (F3/F4) although the Linux kernel's evdev layer reports correct keycodes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 520585] Re: USB2VGA2 device not autodetected at boot
Unfortunately, there seems to not be an active upstream for this driver. The driver was developed by Thomas Winischhofer, but it doesn't look like it's been touched since 2005. There are no other bug reports at launchpad on the sisusb driver, and only one (from 2005) at bugs.freedesktop.org. This definitely feels like a really corner case hardware. OTOH, this might be of interest in the context that now with DisplayLink we have other video devices which need detected on the USB bus, and if that is sorted out, this device could piggyback on that effort. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-sisusb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-sisusb (Ubuntu) Status: New = Triaged -- USB2VGA2 device not autodetected at boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/520585 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-sisusb in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

This might be related to Bug #308191. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 30969] Re: monitor suspends regardless of gnome-power-manager timeouts
I have this problem too. Someone (on ubuntu forum) suggested adding [xset s off] (to /sys/prefs/startup) which has stopped the monitor power-down, but g-s-s still doesn't enable the screensaver. g-p-m appears to be running. - Atom230 (Intel D945GCLF) 1GB, WD1600BEVSRTL (160GB 2.5), atheros 5k compatible wireless PCI card), HP DVD-RAM. - Only variant is that monitor is attached through a KVM switch. No problems with Keyboard and Mouse... This was a clean install with all hardware attached at startup. Still wondering what causes this... can't be so difficult to reproduce? -- monitor suspends regardless of gnome-power-manager timeouts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/30969 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
