[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 515933] Re: [xorg-edgers] after rebuilding, Wine doesn't get same results with DRI R600 as glxinfo

2010-02-16 Thread ppanon
Looks like I may be running into issues related to bug #506437 (and perhaps bug
#506435) because the workaround of setting
export LIBGL_DRIVERS_PATH=/usr/lib32/dri
suggested in bug #248392 seems to allow wine to properly detect/use Direct
rendering.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510004] Re: [lucid regression] random graphics effects after resume from suspend to RAM

2010-02-16 Thread andoreasu
I have the same problem, but I think I think the real problem here is not
suspend/resume but VT handling.
using the suggestion to remove "add_parameters --quirk-no-chvt" works for me --
but only I have have only one user logged in.

If I have more than one user logged in (= more than one X server
running), than one of the Xorg processes hangs and uses 100% of one CPU
core. Swiching to that user's Xserver/VT (via alt+ctrl+fX or using the
graphical session switcher) hangs the system.

If that happens, I have to ssh into that machine and kill -9 the Xorg
process - than at least the other users session can live on.

If I add "add_parameters --quirk-no-chvt" again and resume from sleep
with two users logged in than I have to press alt+ctrl+f1, alt+ctrl+fX
and have a 50% chance of going to the "good" Xorg that is not hanging.
If I hit the "bad" Xorg that hangs at 100% cpu, I have to ssh and kill
-9 the Xorg process to make the system usable again

Funny enough the Enter hang bug "disappears" after I've logged in again.

I've tried logging in, hitting Enter and the desktop hangs. But if I log
in, hit @ and get logged out, then log in again the desktop doesn't seem
to hang when hitting Enter.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522575] [NEW] driver crash xorg server on XkbApplyMappingChange

2010-02-16 Thread Olivier Samyn
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-aiptek

Trying to get my tablet working on my Ubuntu 9.10 (xorg 7.4; xorg-input-aiptek
1.3.0), my X server crashes.

After some investigations, I got a xorg backtrace showing XkbApplyMappingChange
as the last called method.

According to some old list threads and forum posts here is a patch that should
solve this problem.

@andoreasu:

Your issues are different than those discussed in this bug. I suggest
opening a new bug to deal with the resume failure on multiple X
sessions.

Thanks

2010-02-16 Thread Hajo Harts
Next to my from 9.04 upgraded 9.10 I also did a clean install. This one seems
to run flawless.
So it looks like the problem is something in the upgrade.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522646] [NEW] return from suspend doesn't restore screen

2010-02-16 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to Karmic on my Toshiba Tecra M9 laptop, suspend no
longer resumes X11. Instead, Xorg consumes 100% CPU and dmesg
complains:

[ 3542.034191] NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! (0x26:0x38:1138)
[ 3542.034205] NVRM: rm_init_adapter(0) failed

[ 3563.020148] NVRM: rm_init_adapter(0) failed

I have tried both the 185 nvidia drivers as well as the 195 ones from
the avenard repo. Both do the same thing. Kernel is 2.6.31-17-generic.
The video hardware is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 130M
(rev a1)

xorg version is:

xorg:
  Installed: 1:7.4+3ubuntu10
  Candidate: 1:7.4+3ubuntu10

This display worked fine in Jaunty (iirc).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 483453] Re: Wacom Graphire Bluetooth does not work (nothing listed in xsetwacom list)

Is your bluez fix included within the bluez project itself? I've
installed blueman which installed version 4.61 of bluez and makes your
ppa fix useless because it's much newer.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 439188] Re: [GM45] blender rotate (xrandr) on external monitor freezes, logouts, corruptions

2010-02-16 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
I just did some testing on this bug with lucid 20100216 desktop iso
64bit loopback mounted from hd via grub2.

with current lucid graphics drivers:
stock blender (2.49): freeze on the second rotate back after also rotating the
cube in blenders 3D window. no ctrl+alt+F1, but sysrq+K works. Furthermore, the
left rotated blender fullscreen window takes only about the upper half of the
screen.
blender 2.5alpha0: same freeze.

with current xorg-edgers drivers (mesa7.8.0 git20100211):
no freezes with either blender version.
Some small visual problems appear that then go away completely:
sometimes blender first expands over both screens and on first click in blender
scales back to fullscreen on the big screen (as it should have been from the
start)
once or twice there were strange redraw problems. e.g. the "configure display
settings" menue appeared bit by bit only on mouseover.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 374090] Re: [VX800] Samsung NC20 installation problem(test pattern on screen)

2010-02-16 Thread George Varghese
I tried to update the openchrome driver today to version 839. The make command
gave some errors. And did not complete it. They were related to

The complete log is attached.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 404439] Re: [GM965] Kubuntu: after logging out, the KDM login session opens no more

2010-02-16 Thread Ray Stefancsik
After system start, KDM opens correctly the login screen. However, after
the logout the screen stays in the text mode (tty) and no login screen
shows up. One can login to the text console.

Description:Ubuntu 9.10
Release:9.10
Codename: karmic

This happens after upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10.

The proposed fix does not work:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522712] [NEW] return from screensaver fails to "dpms on" one screen

2010-02-16 Thread Brian J. Murrell
Public bug reported:

Frequently, when I leave my computer and come back after a while, gnome-
screensaver has kicked in, and also put my monitors (CRT on :0.1 and LCD
on :0.0) into energy save (i.e. green light has gone amber). I hit a
key or move the mouse to bring the monitors back on and display the
gnome-screensaver dialog, however the LCD does not come out of DPMS but
the CRT has.

I can "wake up" the LCD simply by issuing a "chvt 12; chvt 9" (assuming
the X server started on vt9).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 503944] Re: erratic cursor movement with multi touch

2010-02-16 Thread Maxime Gamboni
I have the same problem. I thought the output (attached) of synclient
gives interesting insight on this.

I did the following:
1) I started synclient -m 10
2) (time=2.374) I put one finger near the right of the touchpad, trying to keep
the position and pressure constant
3) (approx time=3.931) Keeping the right finger still I put a second finger
near the left side of the touchpad, trying to keep both finger's position and
pressure constant
4) (time=5.296) Keeping the left finger still I release the right finger
5) (time=6.639) I release the left finger
6) I exit synclient

Observable mouse pointer behaviour:
Up to time 3.931 the pointer stays more or less where it is (as expected)
between time 3.931 and 5.296 the pointer moves quickly and erratically all over
the screen (but there seems to be some pattern, the distance and direction from
one position to the next seem rather constant). Occasionally, a left click is
triggered (not sure if it happened during this particular test, sorry). As soon
as I release one finger the pointer stops moving and remains where it is (not
the same place as when I started, of course) until the end of the test.

Some points to note:

- the finger count (column "f") is always reported as 1 although it should give
2 between time 3.931 and time 5.296.
- between time 3.931 and 5.296 (which is when the bug occurs) the x coordinate
sometimes corresponds to the right finger's (around 4620), and the rest of the
time is around the average x coordinate of the two fingers
- between time 3.931 and 5.296 the y coordinate is either at the average
y-coordinate of the two fingers, or the exact value 1741. Twice (time 4.621 and
5.142), the y coordinate becomes *negative* (which never happens when I use a
single finger).

Running xinput list-props "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" indicates
("Synaptics Capabilities (265): 1, 1, 1, 0, 0") that my synaptics
driver or touchpad doesn't support multi-touch (Although it does under
windows - zooming gestures and all).

My (rather uninformed) guess is that the synaptics driver thinks my
touchpad doesn't support multi-touch, and, when receiving multi-touch
information, tries parsing it as the position of a single finger,
resulting in corrupted information which in turn makes the mouse pointer
jump around.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 460478] Re: X crash on start (Xubuntu)

2010-02-16 Thread An_tony
I experienced the same problem:

Fatal IO error 104 (Connection reset by peer) on X server

intermittently on Ubuntu 9.10 32-bit running as a guest machine on
VMware 7.0.1, w/tools 8.1.4 build-227600. Adding:

Section "Device"
Option "HWcursor" "false"
Option "SWcursor" "true"
Driver "vmware"
. . .
EndSection
,
to /etc/X11/xorg.conf corrected the problem. I generated the base xorg.conf
with Xorg -configure.

The problem, in this case anyway, isn't specific to Nvidia cards.

well - please contact me if you need more information.

I'm see this and several other issues. Is there a better upstream forum

This is my dmesg from today with no changes at all.
As you can see DRM gets loaded before the agpgart module, and there is a line
further up above about AGP but that is about the agp bus that gets found.

So before I try the mainline kernel I want to know wath you think of
this.

2010-02-16 Thread Jeremy Foshee
added the linux kernel to this bug.

Matthias,
Since the kernel does modesetting these days, would you mind testing
this against the latest Lucid alpha? Also, in the event that you still
encounter this issue, could you test this against the latest vanilla kernel?

Thanks!

This log looks clearly wrong in that agp is loaded too late. This bug
might be some udev configuration bug.
I don't know how to configure udev so can't help there.

You should see "Loading R200 Microcode" in dmesg when radeon module is
loading correctly.

No point testing mainline kernel until module loading is fixed.

2010-02-16 Thread Jeremy Foshee
sniveri,
We are only backporting major security fixes to Karmic at this point, so I
doubt this would meet the definition set forth in the SRU policy. I am glad you
were able to verify that this is resolved in Lucid. I'll go ahead and mark this
Fix Released.

Please feel free to adjust the bug status and provide an update if you
feel this is in error.

Thanks!

2010-02-16 Thread Jeremy Foshee
NNNSVolunteer,
Have either of you tried to test this against Lucid? As you may be aware,
we deal with a lot of modesetting in the kernel these days so I am interested
in the results of your particular testing.

Scott,
I see that you are labeling this as a regression-potential for Lucid. I am
assuming that means you have tested your setup against the latest Lucid and
found this to still be an issue?

Thanks!

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522167] Re: adding second monitor changes colors/colours in first monitor

2010-02-16 Thread Pauli
xrandr is the tool that you are lookin for:

xrandr --output --gamma 1.0:1.0:1.0

output might be DVI-0 but you can check it with xrandr -q.

But I don't understand why 2nd monitor would mess the gamma settings
in first one. This would need some more investigation to find the
cause for problem.

Note that this problem was temporarily fixed earlier this month (see

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup

2010-02-16 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
Thank you. Forget about the batchbuffer dump for now, since they contain
no information on kernel 2.6.32. There is an experimental kernel patch
upstream that will record information again (which applies fine to
2.6.33-rc8 at least) [1]. If you're comfortable with patching and
building a kernel, you may try that. (Description of the build process
at [2], manpage of git-am for how to patch from a mailbox)
