[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 510311] Re: Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades
I felt pretty presumptuous second guessing you when your little finger knows more about X than I'll likely learn in the next decade! Glad to hear I wasn't entirely insane (at least this time). Triaging bugs is time consuming and tedious so I created scripts to do it for me. However they're fairly imperfect. xf86-input-wacom doesn't seem to have made it down the line yet, in fact after updating and searching for wacom, it still only sees the xserver-xorg-input-wacom package. I'm guessing it's just still on its way. I'm in the process of doing a 50 package update at the moment though, so I'll let you know how that goes. xf86-input-wacom is the source package name. The binary name (which shows up in the installer) is xserver-xorg-input-wacom (same as the old driver). -- Touchscreen working on Lucid Alpha 2, Breaks with Recent Upgrades https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/510311 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Downgrading to nvidia-current_190.53-0ubuntu14 unfortunately doesn't fix this for me - see attached screen shot and notice white blocks behind panel and docky windows. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 530622] [NEW] After suspend, screen is dead until switching terminals
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hello! I recently updated to Lucid. I noticed this problem: When I suspend the computer, everything seems OK. However, when I resume, the screen remains turned off. I can see the system turned on—for example, the numlock key turns the LED on and off—but the screen doesn't turn on. The only thing that seems to work is pressing Alt-F6 and then Alt-F7. I tried pressing other keys (in case the problem was just the screensaver) but that doesn't work. Neither Alt-F7 directly nor other Alt-F# followed by Alt-F7 works. Once the screen turns on (after Alt-F6 and Alt-F7), the password dialog of the screensaver* comes up and I can continue my session. (* I have my computer set up to lock the screen, but with no actual screensaver on other than turning off the screen.) Note that after the session resumes I experience bug #528138 which might be related somehow. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 528138] Re: garbage on screen after suspend
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Hello! I've just updated to Lucid*; the most visible change is that suspend stopped working correctly. Actually, suspend works, but resuming seems to have a problem. First, when resuming the screen doesn't turn on - immediately; pressing the num-lock key the LED on the keyboard changes, - however the monitor claims it doesn't receive any signal. I tried - various tinkering with the keys. If I press Ctrl-Alt-F1 through to Ctrl- - Alt-F7 the screen turns on and the screensaver's password dialog came - up. That one works all the time; I tried shorter sequences, like just - C-A-F1 then C-A-F7 and that didn't work. I've no idea what's going on. + immediately; I logged that bug as bug #530622. Anyway, the main problem is that after I enter the password and return to my desktop some pixmaps seem to have been replaced by garbage. I'll attach a couple of screenshots that show this better than I can describe it. (I'm not sure if I should split the two problems in two bug reports; for all I know they might be related.) (*: note that this is a machine that has been dist-upgraded from at least Edgy, so it might be a bit different from a new install. I don't have access to a CD writer, so I can't test the live CD.) In the first screenshot this is mostly visible in the desktop image. I killed Nautilus and when it restarted the garbage was replaced by the correct image. However, as can be seen in the second image, corruption remains in programs that haven't yet been restarted (window shadows and icons are the most obvious). I've assigned this provisionally to xorg, but I've no idea if it's responsible. Note that as far as I can tell everything works pretty much correctly (other than the obvious), in the sense that programs work and I've not noticed crashes or the like even after a long time in this “garbage” state. Everything goes back to correctness if I log out and then back in. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 456902] Re: [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in
Hello, My experience with the graphics-fixes PPA was similar to flabdablet's -- unusably slow. In the 10 or so minutes it took to login and start a browser, I got no actual freezes; just 30-to-60-second response delays for each mouse click. With everything running at 1/100th usual speed, it might've taken weeks to decide whether the driver was stable. (it usually takes a few hours of use) Unfortunately I needed to use the machine so I did a hard reboot reverted to regular Karmic. Details: I used the graphics-fixes PPA starting from a regular Karmic, to which I've reverted: Intel 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device [8086:3582] (rev 02) libdrm1-intel1 2.4.14-1ubuntu1 xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.9.0-1ubuntu2.1 libgl1-mesa-{glx,dri} 7.6.0-1ubuntu4 linux-{image,headers}-2.6.31-19-generic 2.6.31-19.56 (The unusably slow PPA kernel was linux-{image,headers}-2.6.31-50-generic 2.6.31-50.58) -- John E. -- [i845G] Karmic stops responding a few minutes after log in https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/456902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
