[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532845] Re: [Lucid] Option NoTrapSignals ignored when debugging xserver
@ogerlich - thanks for providing that info, but we would like to see it from the original reporter. We may want to send this bug report upstream, but upstream has a hard and fast rule that logs from someone other than the original reporter are not acceptable. The reason for that is that quite often with X.org bug reports, two people may *think* they have the same issue based on commonality of symptoms and/or hardware, but in truth they have separate issues and mixing the report and the files can cause the developers some confusion. If this bug report seems not to be getting attention, I would encourage you to file a new bug report with this data, and simply reference this bug report in your bug description. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- [Lucid] Option NoTrapSignals ignored when debugging xserver https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532845 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 535653] [NEW] System freeze during X start-up and while X is running, but only on battery.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Dear developer community, My freshly installed and fully updated 10.04 alpha 3 works perfectly fine on my ThinkPad X100e whenever I am on AC power, however, it immediately freezes entirely whenever on battery and X is running. What I tried already: * tail -f /var/log/syslog: just stops on the freeze, no new line appears, not useful. * acpi=off in grub: no change * disabled various things on start-up in /etc/rc2.d but no change Finally, I disabled GDM on start-up and, voila, it worked, no more crashes, but of course also no X anymore. After logging in on the console, the system crashes again on start gdm. Thanks, great job guys!! Your apport data indicates that you have the nvidia-current package installed, which provides the binary nvidia drivers. If the binary drivers are activated, nouveau will not work. Ok. I've purged nvidia-current and nvidia-glx-185 now. Did you disable the restricted drivers in System→Administration→Hardware Drivers before trying nouveau? No. I cannot find such a menu entry/module in Kubuntu. What's the command to execute it in a non-Gnome DE? And what will it do, apart from purging the packages maybe? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532047] Re: Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7
I believe it may be related to the most recent kernel (2.6.32-16), as before I updated to this kernel, I never experienced this issue, but afterwards, I will login from GDM only to have it reset and I have to enter my password again. Sometimes it doesn't even go to the GDM screen, but it shows a TTY screen with strange characters. ** Also affects: xorg-server Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532047 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532047] Re: Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7
Madde, Matteo: I've had both the login problem, and the later Enter or 2 problem. The difficulty is the keyboard scancodes, so different keyboards can have different triggers if the keyboards have different scancode assignments. Whenever it happens later, it seems that my crashed X session had been on tty1 (VT1) rather than on tty7 (VT7) or higher. I suspect this symptom might involve the getty program (and maybe plymouth as well). If your /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old file is still around from the crash I wonder if you could check the beginning of the file to see on what VT X had started (and save it somewhere for possible posting later)? I've had trouble reproducing the VT1/late crash problem since uninstalling and reinstalling plymouth, but as I typed this reply the first time a few minutes ago X crashed when I typed 2. (Whew!). I checked my session and it had started on tty1 and thus had been vulnerable to whatever getty had been doing to tty1. There are reports on the situation with late (after the problem key had previously been pressed in an X session--login or after) in LP: #529230. In both my case, and the case of the original reporter, X had started on tty1 (VT1). I don't know about the new case. I wonder if this late crash problem is related to the situation closed for karmic in LP: #396226. -- Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532047 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 519049] Re: xauth generate with large timeout crashes X server
This is not a problem with the NVidia graphics driver. If you look at the backtrace I provided, you can see that the assertion failure occurs within Xorg's security extension (Xext/security.c). Specifically, you can see the assertion failure message in the backtrace: X: ../../Xext/security.c:322: SecurityAuthorizationExpired: Assertion `pAuth-timer == timer' failed. (entry #3 in the backtrace; the stuff that occurs after that is the implementation of the assertion failure). -- xauth generate with large timeout crashes X server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519049 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
