[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 540334] Re: X crash on suspend

2010-03-20 Thread Eugene San
Few notes:
1) Happens on resumes after both sleep and hibernate.
2) Randomly resumes correctly after short suspends to RAM.
3) Works with nouveau, so probably related to nvidia-drivers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 537801] Re: Touchscreen doesn't work after karmic-lucid upgrade

2010-03-20 Thread Mario Limonciello
Now that the freeze has been lifted I upgraded to the new -evdev.
Things don't work, but if I move 69-xserver-xorg-input-wacom.rules out
of the way and reboot, they work fine with -evdev. So I'd say those
rules need to be modified to not be picking up this panel still.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 353126] Re: Compiz / vnc screen refresh with nvidia-restricted driver/VirtualBox/ATI fglrx driver using X.org prior to release 7.5

2010-03-20 Thread DMB
Looks like this is the same issue that screws up Apple's built-in VNC
client - symptoms are the same: machine is visible through Bonjour, I
can connect, the mouse pointer moves, but screen doesn't get updated.
Super frustrating.

Further work on Radeon KMS (kernel mode-setting) power management is
occurring, and will hopefully be ready to go in the mainline kernel by
the Linux 2.6.35 kernel this summer.

See http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_itempx=ODA3Mw for

Feels quite slow, and I'm only getting about 1/3 the usual fps out of

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 537640] Re: video problem flicker unreadable hp compaq nx9420 ati radeon

2010-03-20 Thread Pétur Runólfsson
I see a similar problem on a HP Pavilion dv2 after upgrading from 9.10.
The video card as reported by lspci is:

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Mobility Radeon
HD 3400 Series

The problem also appears using the live CD. I followed the instructions
for removing fglrx and reinstalling the ati driver, but it didn't help.
Using the radeonhd driver the flicker goes away, but rendering is very
slow.

The flicker also appears during startup and shutdown when the splash
screen is shown, even if radeonhd is selected in xorg.conf.

This is a MASTER bug report, i.e. not a real bug report, but a tool to
  help manage other bug reports.

Most bug reports on i855 are probably due to the CPU/GPU incoherency
problem that is now consolidated upstream at
- http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26345 (which was originally
- reported for i845, but applies to i855 as well). For now, we mark all
- automatically reported GPU lockups on i855 as duplicates of this unless
- there is a reason not to. There are some tests you may do to help
- upstream with this issue, and I will come back with instructions here.
- For those of you who know how to patch and compile a kernel you may look
- at comment #61 in the upstream bug report.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542603] [NEW] Dual Monitor Blanks Out Suddenly

2010-03-20 Thread pramathesh ambasta
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I have two days ago attached an external TFT monitor to my HP Compaq
nx6115 notebook. The monitor is Viewsonic VA1912. I set up dual displays
using System-Preferences-Display as a mirror.

I have noticed that the external viewsonic monitor suddenly goes blank
and the display stops working. A message pops up saying No signal. The
notebook display however, is working fine.

On the two occassions that this has happened, I was using the mouse. In
the first instance, some link in Firefox and in the recent incident, a
mail header in thunderbird.

as Xorg.0.log.old shows there seems to have been some problem with X
(ddxSigGiveup) which made the second monitor go blank.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542357] Re: upgrade from karmic to lucid: gui is crashing on login

2010-03-20 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Arun,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

2010-03-20 Thread pramathesh ambasta
It happened again! Soon after I filed the report. My observation is that
it is related to mouse movements. Something happens to X at certain
points when the mouse is moving.

By the way, I have an external USB mouse attached to my notebook

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509273] Re: [Lucid] ATI KMS causes DRM error on X200M

2010-03-20 Thread Lollerke
Exact information on which commit causes this problem (from the the
freedesktop bug):

Starting with the 2.6.31 kernel, KMS works fine until this commit:
3e5cb98dfe87cc61d0a1119dd8aa2b1e4cfab424
After this commit, xdm freezes at the login screen, but I can still switch to
another virtual terminal. My dmesg log has the message described in comment #3
repeated several times. This behavior continues until commit:
6b46362c0ea472b174c336786fd406c504326ad4
After this commit, I experience the behavior described in comment #1.

I am now using X server 1.7.5 and the latest git versions of mesa, libdrm, and
ddx.

If you want more detail, try reading the duplicates. I'm sure I
described what happened to me better than this person has. I mean,
judging from how this person described their problem I wouldn't have
thought it was the same bug, but someone else marked mine as a duplicate
of this, so... happy reading.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 542660] [NEW] New Apple iMac (Core i5) fails to boot

2010-03-20 Thread Sean Clarke
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Lucid beta 1 fails to boot on my Apple iMac 27 (Core i5 model).

I am happily running Karmic (had to download backport Alsa to get sound
working), but Lucid beta 1 fails to boot. You initially see the new
purple Ubuntu loader, then it goes black - CD continues to whirl and
after it sounds like it is loading in the background it resets and
restarts.

Suspect problem with video - I can get it to boot if I select option F6
and selectnomodes (I think thats what it was called) - it boots fine
(I am running it now).

Question: Would this stop me upgrading from Karmic?

If you need any more info, please email.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 494699] Re: Does not support current Lucid kernel (2.6.32) or xserver (1.7)

2010-03-20 Thread Alberto Milone
The problem is that something went wrong when the packages were built.

It looks like the builder ignored echo and printf commands in
debian/rules.

if you grab the source and try to build it locally it will work.

See the attached output of my pbuilder chroot and compare it with the build log
from launchpad:
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/41378586/buildlog_ubuntu-lucid-amd64.fglrx-installer_2:8.721-0ubuntu2_FULLYBUILT.txt.gz

I'll investigate the issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 509273] Re: [Lucid] ATI KMS causes DRM error on X200M

2010-03-20 Thread Tom Louwrier
You are right, the link I used to get the daily kernel build is now invalid.
Try this one:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/daily/?C=M;O=D

You will want to try the most recent edition of Lucid or Karmic,
depending on your current distro.
