2010-03-31 Thread Igor Zemsky
My situation is a bit different than LimCore's. My crash occurs in

order to get rid of this crashes)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 552458] [NEW] Option DynamicPM is not used

2010-03-31 Thread Laurent Bonnaud
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

I am trying to use the DynamicPM option to increase running time while
on battery power. I created a xorg.conf file with the following

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 552481] [NEW] Login screen doesn't appear

2010-03-31 Thread Simon Lewis
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

When the machine boots, the splash screen appears as normal. The display
then goes black, except for the mouse pointer.

The login 'drum beat' sound plays and the monitor backlight
turns off and back on again. This cycle then repeats several times until
machine hangs completely. Sometimes the display shows two flickering mouse
pointers rather than one.

However, I can login to the machine by booting into recovery mode,
choosing 'resume normal boot' option, then Ctrl+Alt+F1 to bring up a
login prompt. After logging in, 'startx' displays the desktop, although
graphics performance is sluggish.

This may be related to bug #446641, as some of the bios and mobo details
are the same (HP machine, Gamila/Giovani/Neon series mobo, v.3.26 bios),
with same issue of /dev/dri/card0 not being created.

Also of possible relevance is the message “ACPI Error: A valid RSDP was
not found”, although this is an ACPI-capable machine.

When booting from the LiveCD, the desktop appears correctly, although
the splash screen is text-based.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 539473] Re: drop libutempter build dependency

2010-03-31 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package xterm - 256-1ubuntu1

---
xterm (256-1ubuntu1) lucid; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable.
  * Revert the libutempter change for lucid. (LP: #539473)

xterm (256-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * New upstream release.

the manpage at build/install time thanks to upstream changes.
  * Refresh patches 902 and 904.
  * Add build dependency on xorg-docs-core to fix the reference to X(7) in
xterm(1).
  * Also document the libxkbfile-dev and libutempter-dev build-deps.

xterm (255-1) unstable; urgency=low

  * Rename the build directory to not include DEB_BUILD_GNU_TYPE for no
good reason. Thanks, Colin Watson!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 472716] Re: dual screen setup: contents of both screens are shifted right by one pixel

2010-03-31 Thread didgethesky
Hi,

I'd be glad to provide you with more information. But unfortunately the makers
of apport-collect did not think of proxies ...
I'm behind my company's firewall but apport-collect ignores both the proxy
settings in gnome system settings and in environment vars.

Is there another way to manually upload the needed data to launchpad?

By the way:
this bug affects both the gnome and the kde desktop in exactly the same way.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 552548] [NEW] fglrx broken after update to 2:8.721-0ubuntu7

2010-03-31 Thread bodwick
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: fglrx

After fglrx upgrade to 2:8.721-0ubuntu7 and restarting X couldn't start
with fglrx driver.

1)
Description:Ubuntu lucid (development branch)
Release:10.04

2)
fglrx:
  Zainstalowana: 2:8.721-0ubuntu7
  Kandydująca: 2:8.721-0ubuntu7
  Tabela wersji:
 *** 2:8.721-0ubuntu7 0
500 http://pl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ lucid/restricted Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

3) I expected normal start of X.org with fglrx driver
4) X couldn't start, I've got a message containing:
(EE) Unable to initialize PCS database
(EE) Missing PCS defaults file /etc/ati/amdpcsdb.default
(EE) No devices detected.

The /etc/ati folder lacks amdpcsdb.default, control, signature files,
solved by copying older version
cd /etc/ati
sudo cp amdpcsdb.default.dpkg-bak amdpcsdb.default
sudo cp control.dpkg-bak control
sudo cp signature.dpkg-bak signature

The upgrade to 2:8.721-0ubuntu7 was normal, it wasn't interrupted etc.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 491572] Re: [lucid][rv350] radeon drm error (AGP)

2010-03-31 Thread andrew thomas
I guess that I didn't look in the xorg log very good when running the
2.6.32.18 kernel before, because when I booted to it after noticing the
space check errors with the drm-next kernel I noticed that I am getting
both the 'failed to parse relocation' and 'space check failed in flush'

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 41301] Re: Mouse clicks stop working sporadically

2010-03-31 Thread Bryan Larsen
I recently started running into the same problem. In terms of
differences from what was posted before:

 - I was using the FGLRX driver. I've uninstalled it -- I'll post back
if that solves my problem.

 - alt-tab does work

 - visual effects are set to none

 - logging in and logging out may or may not fix the problem

 - Some app (I'm not sure which) gave a warning GtkMenu failed to grab
the pointer

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash)

2010-03-31 Thread jerrylamos
On i845 video graphics updated as of 31 March got three black screen
crashes today. The first one was with default the other two with
nomodeset. One of them seemed to point to gnome-panel which looked a
bit different so I filed a bug on that. (I'm on another computer and
don't have the bug # here)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 553014] [NEW] Random Black Screen Crashes

2010-03-31 Thread Benjamin Prosnitz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

On fresh installs of beta 1 of Lucid, a number of ATI HD-series card
users have been reporting random crashes (
http://ubuntuforums.org/newreply.php?do=newreplynoquote=1p=9058263 ).
This appears to occur in Radeon HD 2400 and Radeon HD 4800 series
cards.

During one of these crashes, the screen suddenly goes into sleep mode.
The system does not respond to user keyboard input. Additionally, there
is nothing in the logs around the time of the crash. The crashes occur
at random intervals from one minute to 2 hours after booting and do not
appear to be correlated with any particular user action.

** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
