[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570550] [NEW] Can't make Wacom button emit double-click when compiz enabled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: wacom-tools Steps to reproduce (on Karmic x86_64): 1) Plug the USB model of Wacom Graphire2 into the computer. 2) In System: Preferences: Visual Effects, select Normal to start compiz 3) Install the wacom-tools package. 4) In terminal, run the command: xsetwacom set 'Wacom Graphire2 4x5' Button2 'DBLCLICK 0' 5) Open System: Preferences: Mouse 6) Move the Wacom stylus so that the cursor is over the light bulb with the tip of the stylus a millimeter away from the tablet surface. 7) Press the lower end of the double-ended button on the stylus without letting the tip of the stylus touch the tablet surface (to avoid registering a tip-push click). 8) Release the button. Actual results: The light bulb becomes brighter until the button is released but there's no halo around the light bulb. (I.e. the button worked like the left mouse button works normally.) Expected results: Expected the light bulb to light up bright with a halo around it and expected it to stay lit for a while after the button has been released. (I.e. the button emitted a synthetic double-click when the button was pressed down.) Additional information: If at step #2 you choose None to use metacity instead, the expected results happen. I can confirm this in all ubuntu versions from 8.04 to 10.04. According to SCIM wiki: http://www.scim-im.org/wiki/faq/general/why_xim_apps_does_not_work If we cannot use scim in xterm, this is because scim XIM support module not loaded use the following command: scim -d -c socket -f x11 -e socket as normal user will start scim XIM module, then xterm can now input in SCIM. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-geode On Ubuntu and Fedora, when the screensaver is opened and then start(after 1 minute when I set), the screen will be in chaos. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559883] Re: lucid beta-2 X crashes with dual head configuration when opengl is enabled with intel GM945
You need to turn off composition before running kde System Settings Display and setting to dual monitor - anything but clone or off. In Karmic - composition disabled itself when switching to dual monitor and could not be re-enabled until you log out and in again. In Lucid, X crashes. But if you disable composition for opengl before going to dual monitor, it works. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538501] Re: [Lucid] Xorg crashes when you plug in a monitor
This problem still exists in Lucid Beta 2. I replicated this exactly on my Acer Aspire Revo R3600 - X crashes and causes a total system hang. I can boot from the Lucid live cd but only by using the nomodeset xforcevesa options... Chewit: can you advise the workaround you used to get Lucid booting on your Revo? On a separate note (probably a papercut or another bug I guess), I find it slighly annoying that grub does not even get 1 second of screentime anymore and there is no visual queue that it can be made visible. I know we're trying to make Ubuntu boot quickly but this is not very useful when you have a system that won't boot. -- [Lucid] Xorg crashes when you plug in a monitor https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538501 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570447] Re: Dual monitor display does not work when secondary is on the left side
Hi all, Was able to find a workaround: I have edited the xorg.conf manually and changed the following lines: Section ServerLayout [...] Screen 0 Screen0 1680 0 Screen 1 Screen1 0 0 [...] with: Section ServerLayout [...] Screen 0 Screen1 0 0 Screen 1 Screen0 1680 0 [...] Basically swapped the logical roles in the file. Also, in the xorg.conf file above, the following line: Section ServerLayout Option Xinerama 0 should read: Section ServerLayout Option Xinerama 1 Apologize for that mistake. Hopefully it can helps others while the issue is fixed. ** Description changed: After a hardy - lucid cdrom only upgrade I get sometimes thrown out of the gnome-session on login in my kvm test environment. It happens very quickly, maybe after 1-2s, nothing is visible at this point other than the background. - I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is runing but shows no crash in /var/crash. Nothing unusual in the Xorg.0.log, When running compiz under ltrace it seems to stop always at the same call. This may be a red-herring though, but its the best clue I have currently. - --- + I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is runing but shows no crash in /var/crash but there is one in the Xorg.0.log.
