Setting to fix released based on the last comment. Glad this is fixed.

Jorno: don't be hard on them, I'm sure they're putting a lot of effort
to make Ubuntu better. And your bug got fixed didn't it?

2010-04-27 Thread jorno
Adam: Yeah, sorry, you're right. I don't want to demand anything. Just
got a bit frustrated last night, finding out how many bugs I experienced
in Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid, and then finding out how many of the bugreports
I'm involved in which didn't have any progress or comment. But I agree,
the people working on Ubuntu really makes a very good job. ;)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 568492] Re: Fonts corrupted on Openoffice menus and Lotus Notes 8.5 with nvidia and compiz

It seems it's related to twinview. If I configure twinview with my
laptops monitor and an external LCD, I get font corruption. Disabling
twinview restores fonts and i don't get font corruption at all.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570550] [NEW] Can't make Wacom button emit double-click when compiz enabled

2010-04-27 Thread Henri Sivonen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wacom-tools

Steps to reproduce (on Karmic x86_64):
 1) Plug the USB model of Wacom Graphire2 into the computer.
 2) In System: Preferences: Visual Effects, select Normal to start compiz
 3) Install the wacom-tools package.
 4) In terminal, run the command: xsetwacom set 'Wacom Graphire2 4x5' Button2
'DBLCLICK 0'
 5) Open System: Preferences: Mouse
 6) Move the Wacom stylus so that the cursor is over the light bulb with the
tip of the stylus a millimeter away from the tablet surface.
 7) Press the lower end of the double-ended button on the stylus without
letting the tip of the stylus touch the tablet surface (to avoid registering a
tip-push click).
 8) Release the button.

Actual results:
The light bulb becomes brighter until the button is released but there's no
halo around the light bulb. (I.e. the button worked like the left mouse button
works normally.)

Expected results:
Expected the light bulb to light up bright with a halo around it and expected
it to stay lit for a while after the button has been released. (I.e. the button
emitted a synthetic double-click when the button was pressed down.)

Additional information:
If at step #2 you choose None to use metacity instead, the expected results
happen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556761] Re: ntrig stylus: can only left-click

2010-04-27 Thread Marc Nieper-Wißkirchen
Rafi,

thank you very much! With your patch, I do now can right-click (I also
had to add the mapping from button2 to 3 in order to achieve this).

As I have never updated my firmware on my Dell XT2, I am pretty sure
that I am still using a single touch version of the firmware. I don't
have Windows Vista oder Windows 7. Is there a way to find out the
firmware version and to upgrade without Windows? (Otherwise I will have
to see how I can get an external drive and a Windows installation on
it.)

Best,

Marc

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 544525] Re: [RV380] dual monitor not working - M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

2010-04-27 Thread Georgios
More or less the same issue on an old ATI Mobility Radeon X1400 (never
had the problem in 9.10).

The monitor is a Samsung 2333HD and If I manage to set the resoution at
all (most time my system will just panic and become unresponsive
(neither Ctrl+Alt+1 nor Skinny Elephant will work) I get a clear image
on the laptop, and a blurry flickering image (out of sync?) staring at
which for more than 5 seconds is impossible.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570570] [NEW] GLX extension loaded but GLX visuals not available

2010-04-27 Thread Simon Fowler
Public bug reported:

Running 9.10 on a Dell T7500, with two NVS420s. The X log files show
that the correct driver and the correct GLX module are loading, and
xdpyinfo shows both the GLX and NV-GLX extensions available, but any
attempt to run a GLX app fails with the message: Error: couldn't find
RGB GLX visual or some variant (sometimes complaining about a double-
buffered visual).

I've tried running with the packages from the nvidia-vdpau PPA

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438054] Re: SCIM and Anthy do not work

2010-04-27 Thread Pan, Shi Zhu

I can confirm this in all ubuntu versions from 8.04 to 10.04.

According to SCIM wiki:
http://www.scim-im.org/wiki/faq/general/why_xim_apps_does_not_work

If we cannot use scim in xterm, this is because scim XIM support module
not loaded

use the following command:

scim -d -c socket -f x11 -e socket

as normal user will start scim XIM module, then xterm can now input in
SCIM.

I had test that this works.

So it seems that package maintainer should tune the scim startup scripts
in ubuntu.

This is an valid bug report.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570584] [NEW] Geode driver not dispaly Screensaver

2010-04-27 Thread Hunk Cui
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-geode

On Ubuntu and Fedora, when the screensaver is opened and then
start(after 1 minute when I set), the screen will be in chaos. Few
seconds later, the screen turns to be black as usual. If the user move
the mouse or press the key, the screen can not be back again. We can not
assure if this bug has been reported in the community.

You can use the xscreensaver tools link:
http://www.jwz.org/xscreensaver/download.html. I don’t suggest use the
gnome-screensaver to duplicated the bug on Ubuntu. Because the gnome-
screensaver running on startx-desktop. The xscreensaver is a client
program running on Xorg. When you installed it, you can run
‘xscreensaver-demo’ to setup the screensaver environment, after exit the
demo interface, run ‘xscreensaver -nosplash’ as a Linux common user (su
username), it will start the screensaver after some times.

In my ubuntu workstation environment, when I used the VESA-
driver, the phenomenon is normal after wait for 1 minute, if you move
the mouse or press the key, the screen can be back again. Once use the
Geode-driver, the screen will be in black after wait for 1 minute, if
you move the mouse or press the key, the screen can not be back again.

My xf86-video-geode version is 2.11.7, XServer version is 1.7.1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 559883] Re: lucid beta-2 X crashes with dual head configuration when opengl is enabled with intel GM945

2010-04-27 Thread Paul David Johnson
You need to turn off composition before running kde System Settings
Display and setting to dual monitor - anything but clone or off. In
Karmic - composition disabled itself when switching to dual monitor and
could not be re-enabled until you log out and in again. In Lucid, X
crashes. But if you disable composition for opengl before going to dual
monitor, it works. This time, when you exit dual monitor (return to
clone), then enable composition, it works

I have a similar system: a intel GM945 based desktop system but with a
DVI and a VGA port instead.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538501] Re: [Lucid] Xorg crashes when you plug in a monitor

2010-04-27 Thread Ben Stokes
This problem still exists in Lucid Beta 2. I replicated this exactly on
my Acer Aspire Revo R3600 - X crashes and causes a total system hang. I
can boot from the Lucid live cd but only by using the nomodeset
xforcevesa options...

Chewit: can you advise the workaround you used to get Lucid booting on
your Revo?

On a separate note (probably a papercut or another bug I guess), I find
it slighly annoying that grub does not even get 1 second of screentime
anymore and there is no visual queue that it can be made visible. I know
we're trying to make Ubuntu boot quickly but this is not very useful
when you have a system that won't boot.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570447] Re: Dual monitor display does not work when secondary is on the left side

2010-04-27 Thread Obi1Kenobi
Hi all,

Was able to find a workaround: I have edited the xorg.conf manually and
changed the following lines:

Section ServerLayout
[...]
Screen 0 Screen0 1680 0
Screen 1 Screen1 0 0
[...]

with:

Section ServerLayout
[...]
Screen 0 Screen1 0 0
Screen 1 Screen0 1680 0
[...]

Basically swapped the logical roles in the file.

Also, in the xorg.conf file above, the following line:

Section ServerLayout
   Option Xinerama 0

should read:

Section ServerLayout
   Option Xinerama 1

Apologize for that mistake.

Hopefully it can helps others while the issue is fixed.

Regards,
Obi1

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570075] Re: rhytmbox start kills x session

2010-04-27 Thread durilka
Now it's getting weird. Have a look at the attached xorg log. The only
errors there are about Wacom Volito driver and so far looks like if I
unplug the tablet, then I'm able to start the Rhythmbox (so far it's the
only application causing the problem).

I'm out of ideas, but will gladly provide any information you may
require.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570646] [NEW] HoN crashes with ARB_vertex_buffer_object not available.

2010-04-27 Thread Klaus Doblmann
Public bug reported:

The game Heroes of Newerth (Beta, 0.3.3.1) crashes in 10.04 with the
following error:

kl...@klaus-imac:~/HoN$ ./hon.sh
warning: The VAD has been replaced by a hack pending a complete rewrite
K2 - Fatal Error: ARB_vertex_buffer_object not available.

I'm using a Ati Radeon 2600XT with the radeon driver, but the same
problems have been reported using fglrx too. See this thread for more
info: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1441121

I filed this bug against MESA as it seems to be the most likely
candidate but I'm not sure. Please reassign as needed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570634] [NEW] immediate logout of the gnome session after hardy - lucid upgrade (inside kvm)

2010-04-27 Thread Michael Vogt
Public bug reported:

After a hardy - lucid cdrom only upgrade I get sometimes thrown out of
the gnome-session on login in my kvm test environment. It happens very
quickly, maybe after 1-2s, nothing is visible at this point other than
the background.

I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is runing
but shows no crash in /var/crash. Nothing unusual in the Xorg.0.log, When
running compiz under ltrace it seems to stop always at the same call. This may
be a red-herring though, but its the best clue I have currently.

2010-04-27 Thread sww5523
Installed an updated driver xserver-xorg-video-intel today.

Trying some workarounds from:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Bugs/Lucidi8xxFreezes

1. Switch to -vesa driver --Does not help
3. Enable KMS--Does not help

@Alban:
acpi=off --No change in behaviour for me

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570634] Re: immediate logout of the gnome session after hardy - lucid upgrade (inside kvm)

2010-04-27 Thread Michael Vogt
** Description changed:

After a hardy - lucid cdrom only upgrade I get sometimes thrown out of
the gnome-session on login in my kvm test environment. It happens very
quickly, maybe after 1-2s, nothing is visible at this point other than
  the background.

- I added --debug to gnome-session but did not get any traces, apport is runing
but shows no crash in /var/crash. Nothing unusual in the Xorg.0.log, When
running compiz under ltrace it seems to stop always at the same call. This may
be a red-herring though, but its the best clue I have currently.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for including the attached files. Could you also include your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (or Xorg.0.log.old) from after reproducing the issue?

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` too.
