[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574746] Re: [VX800] serve Xorg performance regression (fullscreen flash)
Hi, I finally found the reason for the worse x11perf ShmPutImage results, which turned out to be unrelated to the flash fullscreen issue, and I found a way to fix the fullscreen flash issue here. First, the worse x11perf ShmPutImage are a result of this change in xorg: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/?id=11817a881cb93a89788105d1e575a468f2a8d27c With this change reverted, I get back the high benchmark result, but I see that the described bug is reintroduced and it does _not_ help the fullscreen flash issue. So it's better to not revert this change... But then I found an easy way to get the good karmic fullscreen flash experience. I simply had to disable hardware acceleration in the flash preferences. So this bug seems to be in the flash player trying to use hardware acceleration which is not available... So thank you for your attention, and sorry for the noise! i can see there are some more severe intel-related bugs but this one is not insignificant for me -- it means among other things that none of my family members can ever use my computer, since they can't reset the vt. Are there any workarounds or suggestions? Would it make sense to try oneo f the many ppas wtih newer intel drivers, e.g. the 2.11git ppa (https://launchpad.net/~glasen/+archive/intel-driver)? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 565407] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 - inst_path_default or inst_path_override
For me too neither of these steps, however, resulted in a *functioning* 3Ddriver (only 2D it's working). Now i can install fglrx (after deleting ATI folders) from official repos, but GLxinfo request fail: # X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) # Major opcode of failed request: 157 (GLX) # Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) # Serial number of failed request: 20 # Current serial number in output stream: 20 In the AMDcc panel i can see 2d driver working, but not at all OpenGL reference driver, and of course compiz or any 3D Apps it's working I'm with a HD2600pro - 10.4 - 32bit -- package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1 - inst_path_default or inst_path_override does not exist in /etc/ati when ATI Drivers are previously installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/565407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
