[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511844] Re: Wacom Tablet is only recognized on first plug
Apparently evtest only works for pointer devices while X isn't running. Anyway, with X turned off temporarily I can get useful output from it. Apparently this is a kernel issue, and not an X issue, since I can replicate the bug without X. Steps to reproduce: 1) plug in a tablet (first time since boot) 2) sudo evtest /dev/input/wacom 3) scribble on the tablet and note events received 4) unplug tablet 5) plug tablet back in 6) note that events are no longer received by evtest when you manipulate the tablet Once the tablet is unplugged, the tablet driver remains in a non-working state until reboot. -- Wacom Tablet is only recognized on first plug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511844 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541492] Re: MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash) (Should KMS be blacklisted?)
Hi 2010/6/21 Nigel Atkinson ni...@atkinson.gen.nz I've tried the driver from ppa:glasen/intel-driver on two identical machines with i845 (from Memory - not at them at present). One seems to now work fine and can even run Blender without crashing (which would instantly previously). It has the server kernel (server + gnome- desktop). On the other, a standard 10.04 desktop install (and Parents machine to hard to test on) - I'm not sure if the driver made things more stable as I had to revert due to a problem with pictures, usually photos in Firefox. The pictures would initially show as a black rectangle, but usually show the picture once moused over. Some showed a previous picture slightly offset. It looks to me like the initial texture coping is not working - and having the mouse cursor over that part of the screen forces an update. Here's hoping this info gives someone an 'A ha!' moment. :-) -- MASTER: [i845] GPU lockup (apport-crash) (Should KMS be blacklisted?) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541492 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of a duplicate bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532436] Re: nvidia driver sometime does not load at boot
I came into this bug report from my personal report #583660, which seems to be quite similar, or maybe a duplicate. Today I tried to add GdmXserverTimeout=60 into the [daemon] section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf. From that moment on, gdm won't start anymore nor at boot nor at command line (sudo start gdm). Then I needed to remove that configuration line to get gdm work again (only from the command line). I found into my log files the same error as above You reported: (EE) Jun 22 14:43:47 NVIDIA(0): Failed to initialize the NVIDIA kernel module. Please see the (EE) Jun 22 14:43:47 NVIDIA(0): system's kernel log for additional error messages and (EE) Jun 22 14:43:47 NVIDIA(0): consult the NVIDIA README for details. (EE) NVIDIA(0): *** Aborting *** (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration But when I run GDM from command line, no error is issued. Today, the automatic check of disks performed a chkdsk routine at the boot. After this event, GDM started automatically as one should expect. I hope this will help You. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 571638] Re: Keyboard does not work when touchpad disable button pressed
Hi, I have this problem too. but I noticed something strange. When this happens, if I go to one of the console with CTRL + ALT + F1 and then return to graphics mode, and the keyboard starts to work and second that it recharges the graphic mode the mouse works, and are forced to use an external mouse . Then if I go out and go from GNOME to KDE (although I have not seen graphics that I have installed all of KDE), the touchpad works, and also the login screen it works. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 528467] Re: [i855] GPU hung (drm i915 intel) on Lucid Lynx Alpha 3 live CD
Christian, we're all better off if you report your problem separately instead of adding it as a comment on another bug report. Comments on a bug saying essentially I have this problem... are at best ignored and at worst very confusing if we start mixing up the commenters problem with the problem of the original reporter (and the difference may be very subtle). I don't mean to be harsh, but we only focus on the problem of the original reporter in each bug report and we ask that all comments also focus on that problem. For xorg-related bugs we much prefer duplicate bug reports over me too comments, since issues that look the same often turn out to be different underlying problems. -- [i855] GPU hung (drm i915 intel) on Lucid Lynx Alpha 3 live CD https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/528467 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 597368] Re: immutable inexplicable screen switch
Well, I haven't fixed it, but I did find a work-around. It is astonishing, but at least it worked! 1) From terminal: sudo nvidia-settings 2) Under X Server Display Configuration arrange Layout with larger screen to left. 3) Press Configure... button and select TwinView. 4) Press the Save to X Configuration File 5) Restart computer (or X server) 6) From terminal: sudo nvidia-settings 7) Press Configure... button and select Seperate X Screen. 8) Press the Save to X Configuration File 9) Cross your fingers 10) Restart computer (or X server) -- immutable inexplicable screen switch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/597368 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 208899] Re: Xorg crashes drawing complex geometries
That's great. I just displayed the data in QGIS and it does not crash either in lucid. Would be interesting to check the change log for the file with the function where the protection error was occurring.
