[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573290] Re: [Lucid AMD64] Dual monitor distortion / crash - ATI mobility Radeon X1400
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in xserver-xorg-video-ati. Goodluck :D ** Package changed: ubuntu => xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) -- [Lucid AMD64] Dual monitor distortion / crash - ATI mobility Radeon X1400 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573290 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573290] [NEW] [Lucid AMD64] Dual monitor distortion / crash - ATI mobility Radeon X1400
You have been subscribed to a public bug: OS: Ubuntu Linux 10.04LTS final release. Fresh install 30th April 2010. Laptop: Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 1536 Video card: ATI mobility Radeon X1400 No third party video drivers installed. Without second monitor, the laptop-screen looks fine. 3D compiz works smooth. Colors are fine. In 9.10 the laptop screen and a second monitor worked fine too. Problem occurence: When plugging in a second monitor (HP1530) in the DVI-bus on my laptop this is recognized in the ' Monitors' preferences' applet. The second screen shows the extended desktop with regularly appearing distortion stripes (like "shocks") in it. When trying to shut the HP1530 off with the 'Monitors' preferences' applet, the laptop screen distorted. (The screen image shifts right; the colors are mixed/the resolution is bad). When I restart the laptop everything is looking good again. Trying to reproduce the error, I plugged the monitor in again. ( again in the DVI-bus on the laptop with DVI-cable). Now the monitor says ' input signal out of range' and no image appears on the monitor. I try to change the frequency in the Monitors preferences applet. (In 9.10 all frequencies worked fine.) The monitor says "Cable disconnected", but Ubuntu still extends the desktop to the second screen. The 'Monitors'-applet still recognizes the HP1530 second screen. I change the frequency again. The laptop screen distorts like before. In this distorted screen I am filing this bug. This bug looks a bit like: Bug #556232 "Radeon HD 2600 - Dualscreen problem" Bug #533269 "External display not working" Bug #544525 "[RV380] dual monitor not working - M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]" I decided to file it separately, because it has some differences in appearance and onset. Looking at the other bugs it could be a linux kernel bug or an xserver- xorg-video-ati bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569294] Re: Waltop Tablet works but it indicates the absolute point only holding the buttons
Hello, I had the same issue on Debian with Genius G-pen F350. By default, the evdev driver is loaded to handle the tablet, which causes the issues described in this bug as evdev probably just can't handle it properly. The support for Waltop devices in xserver-xorg-input-wacom was once dropped by introducing vendor ID checking, but it should be working again with the newer relases, so I suggest installing the xf86-input- wacom from git and making sure, that the wacom driver is loaded instead of evdev. In my case, the tablet is working well except for the buttons (both buttons send the same event; middle click by default). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 600260] Re: [lucid] edges of windows are too thin
The edges for resizing is 1 pixel thin. You have to move your mouse exactly on the edge to resize. For developers, the resize edges should be independent of the theme. People should be able to make themes with zero or 1 pixel border, and end users should have about 4 or 8 pixel zone outsize of the border to resize. -- [lucid] edges of windows are too thin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/600260 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541511] Re: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash)
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel This is a MASTER bug report, i.e. not a real bug report, but a tool to help manage other bug reports. Most bug reports on i855 are probably due to the CPU/GPU incoherency problem that is now consolidated upstream at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=27187 (which was split off from a bug report for i845). For now, we mark all automatically reported GPU lockups on i855 as duplicates of this unless there is a reason not to. A kernel with the proposed fix is available at https://launchpad.net /~brian-rogers/+archive/graphics-fixes To use this fixed kernel, run the following commands: sudo apt-add-repository ppa:brian-rogers/graphics-fixes sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade - sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.35-v9patch+19-generic + sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.35-ppa20+v9patch-generic There is a similar master bug report for i845 at bug 541492. -- MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541511 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 630392] [NEW] meerkat beta livecd: mouse pointer and background only after boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati With the beta livecd I never get to a valid gnone-session screen. On boot, I see the ubuntu splash screen and the "Try Ubuntu" or "Install" screen. After selecting "Try Ubuntu" it switches to a different background (or sometimes just a black screen). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 623294] Re: /etc/init.d/x11-common's chmod 1777 fails to clear setuid and setgid
Ralph, It seems that some 10.04 installs have a root account in /etc/group and some don't. I have checked about half a dozen machines and there is no obvious rhyme or reason between which have root in /etc/group and which don't. There are two that were clean-installed to 10.04 back in April which do not have root in /etc/group, while one machine that I clean installed yesterday does have a root in /etc/group. Either way, inclusion of root in /etc/group (or changing to a numerical group zero in /etc/init.d/x11-common) both seem to fix this issue. -- /etc/init.d/x11-common's chmod 1777 fails to clear setuid and setgid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/623294 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 630105] Re: Incompatibility with the new X.org 8.0 ABI
An addition, the link Opengeek provided in the description is outdated and way too complicated. It must also be noted that it is for Lucid (10.04) and not for Maverick (10.10). Experienced users may use terminal and "sudo apt-get" to install applications and drivers, but for beginners it is safer to use synaptic in order to resolve dependencies automatically. It gets even more complicated to download applications and to install them as local packages with "sudo dpkg -i". This will easily lead to broken packages if dependencies are not met. -- Incompatibility with the new X.org 8.0 ABI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630105 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

After the upgrade I can get what I want via System Settings / Display: 1280 x 1024. But the resolution setting is lost after a reboot; after the reboot the resolution is again 1024x768. The correct setting is preserved over logout, however. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 586968] Re: Mouse dies for entire KVM switch when 10.04 / Lucid machine connected to the switch boots
I think this bug is now confirmed resolved with the Ubuntu 10.04.1 CD image. I loaded a workstation on our Adder AV8OSDE KVM. The box has a PNY nVidia 6200 board in it. First I installed from the 10.04.1 CD, then applied available updates and rebooted. Next installed the latest binary nVidia drivers, rebooted. Mouse working beautifully through the KVM box. -- Mouse dies for entire KVM switch when 10.04 / Lucid machine connected to the switch boots https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/586968 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running , and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue. -- Touchpad too much sensitive after upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 538275] Re: Nouveau not working with Modeline resolution in xorg.conf
I am actually having a similar problem, and judging from some forum discussions there seem to be a lot more people with that problem. Under Lucid with kernel 2.6.32-25-generic #43-Ubuntu I can successfully change the desired mode on my monitor to 1152x864 75Hz by having a modeline setting in my xorg.conf file (see at end). But as this kernel does not support my webcam, I tried 2.6.35-020635rc1-generic from the kernel mainline. While this one does support the webcam, my modeline setting is now ignored, and a resolution of 1280x1024 is set, but at only 60Hz. The flicker is not acceptable, The same 1280x1024 @60Hz setting comes up when I boot non-modified Maverick beta from a USB stick. xorg.conf file: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Configured Monitor" Vendorname "ViewSonic" Modelname "ViewSonic G771" Horizsync 60-68 Vertrefresh 70-80 modeline "1152x...@75" 108.0 1152 1216 1344 1600 864 865 868 900 +hsync +vsync Option "PreferredMode" "1152x...@75" Option "DPMS" EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Monitor "Configured Monitor" Device "Configured Video Device" DefaultDepth24 EndSection -- Nouveau not working with Modeline resolution in xorg.conf https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/538275 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
I said: > The corruption does disappear when I slide the window containing the > corruption onto either of the other monitors, Today, I have some corruption (on the zero glyph in a particular font at a particular size) that stays corrupt when I slide the Firefox window from the Right monitor to the Middle monitor (which crosses from the first FireMV to the second). But this corruption vanishes when I keep sliding from the Middle to the Left monitor, both of which are on the same FireMV card. (And the corruption returns when I slide the window back to Middle or to Right.) I don't think this is a hardware problem peculiar to one of the cards. -- [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xserver-xorg-driver-ati. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

It looks like mutter is using a lot of RAM. You seem to have 1GB of RAM and no swap space enabled. I suggest you first create some swap space.
