[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641091] Re: erratic mouse behaviour after resume

2010-09-18 Thread Vladimir Prus
I've managed to run xev from text console, and seem to have confirmed my
theory. There's a stream of ButtonPress and ButtonRelease events, with
rate MotionNotify between them. And surely, I only tried to move a
cursor.

Is there anything further I can check?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570879] Re: OpenGL graphic errors in google earth

2010-09-18 Thread madbiologist
czubek - Mesa 7.9 is currently available for download via Update Manager
in Maverick Beta. I will be installed by default in the Maverick
Release Candidate (RC), and if no major problems are found it will be
installed by default in the Maverick final release. It will not be
available via Update Manager in Lucid.

Eugene - sorry to hear that it hasn't solved the problem for you.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641091] Re: erratic mouse behaviour after resume

2010-09-18 Thread Vladimir Prus
Further bits of info.

1. Using i8042.nomux and i8042.reest on kernel command line does not fix this.
2. This time around, external mouse buttons do work, so I've looked at dmesg
and found these additional messages:

[1266874868.433383] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost
synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away.
[1266874868.945985] psmouse.c: resync failed, issuing reconnect request

[1266874870.976315] psmouse.c: resync failed, issuing reconnect request
[1266874874.950429] psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost

synchronization, throwing 3 bytes away.
[ 343.035419] psmouse.c: resync failed, issuing reconnect request

3. If I do
modprobe -r psmouse
modprobe psmouse

both the trackstick and touchpad operate normally. Of course, this is
merely an ugly workaround.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641091] Re: erratic mouse behaviour after resume

2010-09-18 Thread Vladimir Prus
Following the advice at
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_configure_the_TrackPoint, I have
created a file /etc/pm/config.d/01reload_mouse with the following
content:

 SUSPEND_MODULES=${SUSPEND_MODULES:+$SUSPEND_MODULES }psmouse

And this fixes the issue. I guess the remaining questions are:

1. Is this the best way to force a module reload after resume?
2. Should this somehow be automatically enabled on E6410?
3. Is this acceptable solution, or psmouse should not lost sync in the first
place, ever?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 638871] Re: KDE4 not started after login - X crashed

2010-09-18 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Could you lease run “apport-collect 638871” after reproducing the crash?
The partial logs you've got attached aren't quite sufficient to diagnose
your problem.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 303697] Re: [fglrx] vsync issues - screen tearing unrelated to compiz

2010-09-18 Thread laysan_a
artik,

I really think a lot of the blame (at least half?) belongs with the xorg
devs. Fglrx worked great for me on intrepid. It wasn't until they
improved X that the incompatibility issues began.  I wouldn't be
surprised if the devs are so excited by the prospect of finally being
able to code their own drivers up to industry standards (since ati/amd
opened their sources) that there just isn't as much interest in getting
the proprietary drivers to work.

You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber

Status in AMD fglrx video driver: Confirmed
Status in “fglrx-installer” package in Ubuntu: Triaged

Bug description:
Videos tear when I play them with xv extension. I enabled vsync with Catalyst
Control Center and running 'aticonfig --initial --input=/etc/X11/xorg.conf
--overlay-type=Xv', but the video still tears. I tried several Xorg.conf
settings but without any improvement. Removing Xorg.conf does not change
anything.

I have this problem since Hardy with a Radeon HD 3650. Even Windows XP
with Catalyst driver tears. Some time ago I switched to a Radeon HD 4670
(see lspci-vvnn.log), but even this card tears.

The videos tear and do not flicker. This bug also occurs with Compiz
disabled.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 633406] Re: Display freeze when changing kwin effects settings if effects are active

2010-09-18 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Hm. That patch doesn't apply to a clean 7.9 tree. I think this bug is
caused by the mesa workaround for bug #638808. Could you test mesa
7.9~git20100909-0ubuntu1 and check that it does not appear there?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 414042] Re: Need monitor quirk to fix wrong DPI for Toshiba Satellite A110-160

2010-09-18 Thread Santiago Urueña
Hi, I just downloaded a kubuntu 10.04.1 (desktop) live CD, and this
problem with the fonts is not happening again. The resolution is now
detected OK, both the i386 and AMD64 versions.

I think this can now be closed, thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 633406] Re: Display freeze when changing kwin effects settings if effects are active

2010-09-18 Thread Scott Kitterman
The patch applies to -0ubuntu2. I can adjust it to apply to whichever
version you want. The problem definitely existed with -0ubuntu1 as well
(and the previous 7.8.2 package).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585651] Re: [LUCID] Cannot install on eDP laptops such as HP Elitebook 2540p or 8440p

2010-09-18 Thread David B
Noting this bug is rated as having had a fix released, thought I'd put
in my two cents worth. I have a beta Ubuntu Maverick and the mainline
kernel dated 15th September (called by Ubuntu 2.6.36-999) on a HP2540p.

When using the internal display, it still 'flashes', more correctly
'flickers' in my opinion. Not constantly, might be ten or so seconds
between each flicker, on average. Its quite erratic. Its not really bad
enough to call it 'unusable' even.

Using an external display, its fine.

(By the way, long term followers of this bug may remember my plan to use
U 9.10, bad plan, using 9.10 leaves the box totally unable to recognise
an external display at all. So not useful with a docking station...)

2010-09-18 Thread Steve G.
Error appeared after I updated to kernel 2.6.32-24.43-generic yesterday.
Seems to be a build error with this kernel version.

make.log says:

Can't install _any_ fglrx version. No matter if manually or per jockey.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 641797] Re: package fglrx (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build

2010-09-18 Thread Ufuk
I also get this errors when try to install ATI driver on kernel linux-
image-2.6.32-24.43. There is sign that this error is related to kernel
update 2.6.32-24.43. Look at the DKMS build.log that OP posted:

/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.723.1/build/2.6.x/kcl_ioctl.c: In function
‘KCL_IOCTL_AllocUserSpace32’:
/var/lib/dkms/fglrx/8.723.1/build/2.6.x/kcl_ioctl.c:196: error: implicit
declaration of function ‘compat_alloc_user_space’

In the changelog of 2.6.32-24.43 generic kernel there are the lines:

  * x86-64, compat: Retruncate rax after ia32 syscall entry tracing
- CVE-2010-3301
  * compat: Make compat_alloc_user_space() incorporate the access_ok()
- CVE-2010-3081

I thinks these changes are related to fglrx build errors. I want to try
a previous version of 2.6.32-24 generic kernel. Because ATI drivers
works with 2.6.32-23 generic kernel. Anyone know where can I find the
previous versions of 2.6.32-24 generic kernel?

Maverick now defaults to using the fbdev xorg driver by default instead
of intel for i8xx chips, and this should work around the freezing bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 588473] Re: shift key get stuck randomly

2010-09-18 Thread PAB
Great, TV-card and tvtime installed, here too. I use the v4l drivers
instead of the built-in for the TV-card.

Did anyone checked already, if tvtime needs to be running to cause the
bug or if the TV-card needs to be plugged in (which would perhaps
indicate if the problem is caused by the dirver or the tvtime software).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 630264] Re: Mosart MA-957 not recognized

2010-09-18 Thread drem
While the mosart driver doesn't seem to work jet, shouldn't someone apply your
solution from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/620609/comments/5
(equivalent from what I see now with mine from
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-evtouch/+bug/511747)
so that we have our devices work out-of-the-box with Maverick?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511747] Re: support for Acer 1420P

2010-09-18 Thread drem
Does anyone follow this bugs? There are only 2 lines (in 2 files - one per
file!) to change in order to put this device on that lists and have it work!
(and close like... 3 or more related bug reports... and make the users of ACER
1420p, ACER 1820ptz, PackardBell Butterfly Touch etc. happy)
