[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 515498] Re: lucid lynx xorg resume from suspend colored blocks nonresponsive
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 488720 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/488720 Is this really a duplicate of bug #488720? In this case, a bunch of coloured blocks appear when resuming, but with #488720, the screen stays black. I am also affected by this. Usually, the blocks appear for a while when I resume, but bootup proceeds normally otherwise, and real graphics show up after a little while. Today, though, the same problem reported here appeared. The blocks stayed and the system was unresponsive (even to RSEIUB) and had to be rebooted. Upon reboot, a crash report from java was in my home directory. I'll attach it to this post. This bug was fixed in the package xserver-xorg-video-intel - 2:2.12.0-1ubuntu5 --- xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.12.0-1ubuntu5) maverick; urgency=low [ Robert Hooker ] * Disable DRI on Sandybridge chipsets. (LP: #639667) * Add 102_b43_pciid_update.patch. Fixes detection of a new b43 chipset revision that is being shipped. Without this the drivers will not attempt to load even though this chipset is the same as the previous b43 ones. Backport of upstream commit 55b5fe8880. (LP: #640214) [ Christopher James Halse Rogers ] * debian/patches/101_copy-fb.patch: Move scratch pixmap creation to the drmmode_copy_fb function, and clean up after we've used it. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 648631] [NEW] Intel graphics drivers not working on new kernels on Maverick?
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel Basically, on Maverick, X fails to start properly for me on newer kernels. Kernels up to 2.6.35-15 work just fine, but the later ones don't. While booting, I get into a terminal login. If I run startx from there, it complains that it couldn't load the screen properly and offers low graphics mode. Driver version: 2:2.12.0-1ubuntu4 dmesg log from kernel 2.6.35-17 (one of the not working ones): http://pastebin.com/9JNcNAN1 Xorg.log: http://pastebin.com/2XHxX45P Note that these logs have drivers Xorg from the xorg-edgers ppa. Removing it with ppa-purge doesn't change the situation in any way though. Also, my GPU is Intel HD Graphics, lspci | grep VGA output being: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) It's my first time reporting a bug, I hope I didn't miss anything important! I already made a thread on the maverick forums about this, where I was advised to report a bug. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Intel graphics drivers not working on new kernels on Maverick? https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/648631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 645124] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu5 failed to install/upgrade: fglrx kernel module failed to build
I reinstalled patch, which was one of the problems when installing it first time. (It tried to call patch but it wasn't installed), then reinstalled fglrx, which went through without problems according to the installer. That being said, it still doesn't work right, and I've found my self using the a pre-lynx kernel to avoid the UI freezing (mouse doesn't move, keyboard won't respond). Admittedly this problem might not be fglrx related, but something completely different. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 646860] [NEW] Touch-pad crazy with Ubuntu 10.04 on laptop Aspire 8530
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper Few days ago I did a fresh install of 10.04 on my laptop Aspire 8530 and I experienced similar problems occurred with Ubuntu 9.10, while using the touch-pad. As a matter of fact my touch-pad is frequently, not always, jumping around like crazy, opening windows, applications ... and it.s very hard to work in such a situation. I checked for a fix on the web and I found that a strange behaviour of a mouse/touch-pad crazy with OS Ubuntu has been reported several times, but none could find a good solution. The very strange thing to me is that the anomalous behaviour does not occur always, it's a random phenomenon and I started thinking of a capricious computer (with a soul?). For example yesterday my touch-pad worked fine, but not now and I can't replay the situation on request. My laptop Acer Aspire 8530G has windows 7 installed by factory and Ubuntu 10.04 in a separated partition. I would like to use Ubuntu always and for this it is essential to fix this bug.
