[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 630632] Re: [i945GME] Kwin compositing fail on maverick
Based on your previous comment, I'd guess that this is now fixed in Maverick. The lack of mouse input is going to be a separate issue. If the windows are being repainted - and given that you can resize them, it seems that they are - then mesa's job is finished :). Please feel free to file another bug about the mouse input issue - particularly if you can find a way to make it happen regularly. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Maverick) Status: New => Incomplete -- [i945GME] Kwin compositing fail on maverick https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/630632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 643118] Re: [RV350] Desk top corruption – Screen only shows vertical band s
As it turns out the buggy package is for sure the gnome-settings-daemon. I wasn't able to make the broken install work properly by downloading a deb with a different version, but I was able to break an install and the BETA LiveCD simply by updating this package. Further, another clean install of the beta and then version locking the gnome-settings-daemon kept it alive even after all other updates were applied. I'm guessing I should file a new bug report on this package. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 648868] Re: major 965GM 2D/3D performance regression mesa 7.9~git20100909
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel - After restarting this machine over the weekend after about a week of updates, 2D/3D performance has reverted to Lucid levels: video playback and switching desktops is sluggish and Civ4 under Wine is unplayable again. - I've tried reverting to older versions of xserver-xorg-video-intel and - linux-generic, with no improvement. libdrm2 doesn't seem to have changed - in any significant way in the last week, so I'm not sure what else to do - from here. + The regression was actually caused by mesa 7.9~git20100909 - reverting + to 7.8.2-2ubuntu2 solved the 2D perf issues - I now get video playback + fine. Reverting ia32-libs to the version generated before + 7.9~git20100909 was released solved the Wine 3D performance. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 649428] [NEW] XBMC Crashes Because of Intel Bug (HDMI)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I am having a bug where when I fullscreen xbmc on my LED TV through HDMI cable it crashes. I've talked to the developers with XBMC and they are telling me that it's a bug with the intel driver. Let me know what else I can provide and I'll do so. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647432] Re: no 3d support after fglrx
I had the same problem, and it happened because I installed fglrx and tried to re-run X without rebooting the machine. (I know that the usual driver packages can load fglrx without rebooting (in fact, they can even load it in-place), but in this case it obviously didn't work). So the solution that worked for me was shutting down X, completely reinstalling fglrx, and then rebooting the machine. Upon reboot, the graphics/gdm started properly, under fglrx, and things like glxgears/xdriinfo etc. worked without problems: 1. Enter/switch to text mode 2. sudo stop gdm 2. sudo apt-get --purge remove fglrx 3. sudo rm -rf /usr/lib*/fglrx 4. sudo rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf 5. sudo apt-get install fglrx 6. sudo aticonfig --initial 7. sudo reboot -- no 3d support after fglrx https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/647432 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 649350] Re: Sandy Bridge DRI is non functional and should be disabled for 10.10.
xserver-xorg-video-intel (2:2.12.0-1ubuntu5) maverick; urgency=low [ Robert Hooker ] * Disable DRI on Sandybridge chipsets. Support for them will not be released until the Q42010 Intel releases, which will not be pulled into maverick. Without this change, all 3D apps on these devices cause hangs. (LP: #639667) * Add 102_b43_pciid_update.patch. Fixes detection of a new b43 chipset revision that is being shipped. Without this the drivers will not attempt to load even though this chipset is the same as the previous b43 ones. Backport of upstream commit 55b5fe8880. (LP: #640214) [ Christopher James Halse Rogers ] * debian/patches/101_copy-fb.patch: Move scratch pixmap creation to the drmmode_copy_fb function, and clean up after we've used it. Fixes the SIGSEGV in FreeClientResources when logging out of KDE (LP: #628077) * debian/patches/106_backport_vblank_on_server_regenerate_fix.patch: Backport fix for SwapBuffers hang after server regenerate. LP 628077 was hiding this by crashing the server. Fixes kwin desktop effects hanging on second and subsequent logins. * Cherry-pick e30f0338 to free the Screen pixmap on close. Fixes a memory leak on server regeneration, and another crash on KDE log out hidden by LP 628077. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel In mesa 7.9 that is currently in maverick Sandy Bridge DRI is non functional and leading to hangs any time a GL app is started. Given that these machines may potentially be released before 11.04 is, we should disable DRI in 10.10 so a 2D desktop experience is functional and revert the change for natty where it will be supported. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
I have seen this behavior as well in the patched X-Server, and I may have also seen this with the original Maverick X-Server - though I'm not sure about it. I get this bug triggered only by using Synergy, but with almost 100% consistency: I use Ubuntu 10.04 as a Synergy server, and 10.10 is the client. If I move my mouse to the 10.10 screen and try to switch languages by using ALT-SHIFT on the server keyboard, I get the faulty behavior. What happens is that gnome-settings-daemon - which is normally responsible for switching layouts when you switch applications - starts switching through all the layouts uncontrollably as if the switching keys are stuck, and takes up 100% CPU. If you start typing anywhere, you'd get characters from all layouts mixed together. At this point, if you try to use the keyboard layout indicator in the session applet, you'd see that its stuck and does not respond to requests to set the layout. Finally, sending TERM to gnome-settings-daemon will not stop it and you must use the KILL signal (-9). I believe this is a gnome-settings-daemon, mostly as I can also cause gnome-settings-daemon to spike to 100% CPU usage simply by sending it a TERM signal while working normally. At which point the keyboard layout indicator is again stuck and does not respond to actions, but using the layout switching keys works normally and there is no cycling through the layouts. -- Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36812 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 36812] Re: Keyboard layout change on hotkeys press instead of release and do not work well with shortcuts
Yesterday I upgraded to maverick and today experienced layout switching bug. Not sure if it relates to the original xserver because I immediately installed patched version kindly provided by Oded Arbel. However, here is how it looks like: at a random moment when I switch layout gnome-settings-daemon spikes to 100%, active layout is 'stuck' (i.e. it does no longer switch) and when I press and hold a key a random sequence of two characters is printed (chars from two installed layouts mapped to the same key). My second layout is cyrillic, so if I hold down "ф", printed sequence looks like "фaффффaaaффaфa". I haven't found any guaranteed way to trigger such a behavior, but is does happen several times a day at moments when I switch layouts actively (1-2 times a second). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 646860] [NEW] Touch-pad crazy with Ubuntu 10.04 on laptop Aspire 8530
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper Few days ago I did a fresh install of 10.04 on my laptop Aspire 8530 and I experienced similar problems occurred with Ubuntu 9.10, while using the touch-pad. As a matter of fact my touch-pad is frequently, not always, jumping around like crazy, opening windows, applications ... and it.s very hard to work in such a situation. I checked for a fix on the web and I found that a strange behaviour of a mouse/touch-pad crazy with OS Ubuntu has been reported several times, but none could find a good solution. The very strange thing to me is that the anomalous behaviour does not occur always, it's a random phenomenon and I started thinking of a capricious computer (with a soul?). For example yesterday my touch-pad worked fine, but not now and I can't replay the situation on request. My laptop Acer Aspire 8530G has windows 7 installed by factory and Ubuntu 10.04 in a separated partition. I would like to use Ubuntu always and for this it is essential to fix this bug. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel After restarting this machine over the weekend after about a week of updates, 2D/3D performance has reverted to Lucid levels: video playback and switching desktops is sluggish and Civ4 under Wine is unplayable again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 563100] Re: Mouse movement corrupted with Xinerama enabled
There is an additional patch upstream: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=33939 Without it I still get random cursor freezes on ANY video card trying to use Xinerama. I've tested this on 10 or so machines in my company and this weekend I've applied it to all 150 which use a mix of nvidia twinview, matrox xinerama, and various single head displays. I will report back in a few days on stability but I'm pretty sure its good to go. -- Mouse movement corrupted with Xinerama enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563100 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
