[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 327428] Re: mouse pointer no longer has 1 pixel precision
OK, now it's getting absurd. It *still* hasn't been fixed in Maverick. Fortunately, the same patch works in the Maverick version as it does in the Lucid one, but come on - this problem has an identified cause, a known temporary solution (which does correct the problem, it's not just a workaround)... how has it not been addressed in the official version yet? If the problem is in identifying when the correction needs to work, can't a simple file be introduced that allows users to set the appropriate values, should they find that the defaults not be acceptable? Just a config file that, if absent, leaves everything at defaults? ** Tags added: maverick -- mouse pointer no longer has 1 pixel precision https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/327428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes
On 23 October 2010 23:00, John Bruno seldoviacomput...@gmail.com wrote: DAMN! had a mouse freeze, with a message of pulseaudio[2011]: ratelimit.c: 437 events suppressed. I was listening to a mp3 in totem in the background and surfing with firefox 3.6.11. I plugged in my Logitech usb wireless mouse and it seems to be working longer than it usually does after this event (Still playing a mp3 in Totem). I'm going to re-add nohz=off and continue playing the MP3 in Totem. Same here, 10.10 was relatively freeze free for me too, the first one happened after installing banshee and playing an mp3. I added both options mentioned above and have suffered another full lockup (sound stopped, mouse froze, hard reset required) in the meantime while watching tv and typing an email in chromium on google mail. I think I'll try disabling pulseaudio next. Any good pointers out there to show how this is done or isn't this possible anymore with 10.10? I seem to remember a howto on how to revert to alsa. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 656279] Re: NVRM: os_raise_smp_barrier(), invalid context!
I confirm that on Dell Latitude E6410 with nVidia card the GRUB option acpi_sleep=nonvs resolves the resume issue on standard Maverick kernel 2.6.35-22-generic x86_64. On kernels 2.6.36 this GRUB option isn't necessary and the machine resumes very well. There is one exception, valid for both 2.6.35 and 2.6.36 kernels (i suspect that for any other kernels as well) resume fails systematically when running on battery power and CPU SpeedStep is enabled in BIOS. This is of course unrelated to this topic. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665863] [NEW] ATI Radeon HD 4650 randomly crashes with fglrx driver (in U 10.10 even more often - about each 15 minutes)
Public bug reported: I installed Kubuntu 10.10 in place of Ubuntu 10.04. In 10.04 I experienced a lot of crashes while trying to play movies using XvBA through mplayer. In 10.10 KDE desktop effects have been bringing it to crash even faster. Things started to get better after I had disabled them completely. But absolutely calm my PC is when I use vesa driver. (opensource radeon is way too slow; I can't accept it). fglrx I'm using is so-called 10.10. I remember using 10.4 or so on openSUSE 11.2 and then, or on 10.6 I started to see random crashes. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665949] [NEW] Second monitor does not work in Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hello, In Ubuntu 10.10 gnome-display-properties seems to have a problem displaying 2 monitors at the same time in my laptop, a HP 6735b. I tried to see the laptop screen at the home TV, without avail. It now asks for exiting and restarting session, but the more one gets it's the TV screen to go black, then grey, then black... every half a second or so. You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a HP nx6180 notebook running Ubuntu 10.10 upgraded from 10.04 LTS GNOME. The problem has been existing since 10.04 LTS. If the system is left idle for any random amount of time the following happens: 1. Right mouse clicks does not respond. 2. Left mouse click works. 3. Any taskbar menu does not respond (Applications, Places, System, or system tray icons), none responds. 4. custom application shortcuts on the taskbar respond by left click. 5. The keyboard does not register any input. CAPSLOCK light responds. 6. The terminal opens from the taskbar custom shortcuts, but does not accept any input from the keyboard. 7. The only solution left is a hard reset, after which everything returns to normal. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665940] Re: Notebook mouse click and keyboard freezes when left idle
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I have a HP nx6180 notebook running Ubuntu 10.10 upgraded from 10.04 LTS GNOME. I am using the following version of UBUNTU: Release 10.10 maverick kernel Linux 2.6.35-22-generic GNOME 2.32.0 Hardware: Memory: 993.6 MiB Processor: Intel(R) Pentium (R) M processor 1.60 GHz + --- + Architecture: i386 + DRM.card0.LVDS.1: + status: connected + enabled: enabled + dpms: On + modes: 1024x768 + edid-base64: AP///wBMowANAQOAHxd4CtkOllZShicjUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBZBkAQEEAJjAYiDYAMOQQAAAZDwAEfhj/AQUCbxj/AnQB/gBTQU1TVU5HCiAgICAg/gBMVE4xNTBYQi1MMDMKAEk= + DRM.card0.VGA.1: + status: disconnected + enabled: disabled + dpms: On + modes: + edid-base64: + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx - Release i386 (20100429) + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq nx6120 (PC417AV) + Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.3.2-6ubuntu3 + PackageArchitecture: i386 + PccardctlIdent: + Socket 0: +no product info available + Socket 1: +no product info available + PccardctlStatus: + Socket 0: +no card + Socket 1: +no card + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=UUID=1a00a230-d499-485f-ba23-c3066591b4ac ro quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=en_IN + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 + Tags: maverick maverick + Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 07/25/2005 + dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.bios.version: 68DTD Ver.
