[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 554980] Re: Two finger scroll not working on all old touchPads (emulation approach).
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics - on HP Envy 15 laptop, two finger scroll doesn't work even after enabling - with synclient. + The original description of this bug isn't valid now. Although the bug + initially was filed for having true multitouch capability but as the + majority of subscribers as well as the bug reporter wants to accept and + use the emulation workaround, this bug now deals with emulation + workaround. This is done just to clean up all the bugs that are filed + for multitouch. Now all bugs that deal with two finger scroll on older + touchpads(or for any other reason those who want their bug reports + should be happy with emulation workaround) should be marked as duplicate + of this bug. - on windows, two finger scroll works fine, as well as pinch/zoom - functionality two finger rotate (multitouch gestures), so hardware is - capable. + If anybody wants to track the status of the bug that deals with true + multitouch(hardware based, not using emulation) please subscribe here + also bug #308191. All the bug reports that want their bug reports were + actually filed for true multitouch should be marked duplicate of that + bug. + + In any case all bugs related to multitouch should be marked duplicate of + either this bug or the later bug(only do if the hardware is synaptics). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 673402] [NEW] System unresponsive few minutes after boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I did a fresh install of 10.10 when it came out, and this began. I never had this problem with 10.04. The problem is, when booting (either cold booting or waking from standby), the system works fine for some time, usually from 5 to 20 minutes. Then, the mouse pointer starts lagging at best, and is almost unmovable at worst (I can move the physical mouse, and the pointer responds with tiny movements 15 seconds later). It's not just the mouse pointer, I cannot switch applications, scroll in the browser, open new applications etc. It doesn't totally freeze, it's just awfully slow and unusable. It's as if the system is under very, very heavy load. This goes on for 1-5 minutes, after which everything is back to normal. At _every_ boot. I have no idea if this is X-related, or something entirely else. I have tried to have the htop program run in the background, but I see no process with heavy load. Help would be appreciated. :) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: xorg 1:7.5+6ubuntu3 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-22.35-generic 2.6.35.4 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-22-generic i686 Architecture: i386 DRM.card0.DisplayPort.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.DisplayPort.2: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.HDMI_Type_A.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: DRM.card0.LVDS.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1280x800 edid-base64: AP///wAwrnFSAQOAHRJ46qLVlllWjSYfUFQBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBAQEBGh0A5lAgFzAwIDYAHrMQAAAYRhgA5lAgFzAwIDYAHrMQAAAYDwCBCjKBCigeCQAyDEcB/gBMUDEzM1dYMi1UTEQxAME= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: Off modes: edid-base64: Date: Wed Nov 10 09:26:37 2010 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat - Release i386 (20101007) MachineType: LENOVO 2738L2G ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-2.6.35-22-generic root=/dev/mapper/hostname-root ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_DK.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display Title: Xorg freeze dmi.bios.date: 08/26/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: 6AET59WW dmi.board.asset.tag: ATN12345678901234567 dmi.board.name: 2738L2G dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: LENOVO 6AET59WW dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: LENOVO 6AET59WW dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvr6AET59WW:bd08/26/2009:svnLENOVO:pn2738L2G:pvrThinkPadSL300:rvnLENOVO:rn2738L2G:rvrLENOVO6AET59WW:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLENOVO6AET59WW: dmi.product.name: 2738L2G dmi.product.version: ThinkPad SL300 dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: maverick architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.35-22-generic ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug freeze i386 maverick -- System unresponsive few minutes after boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/673402 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 660301] Re: maverick: S3 savage (but also with vesa driver): X crash/restart after first switch to console and back, garbaged and unusable screen after second console switch
So, let's make some updates then... After this post, from that date, i try with different configs and stuff. Finally, configuring xorg.conf with some modeline on the screen section, i got to make the new driver work...but... At the beggining, nothing wrong. A little more slow than Lucid, but hell, it works. Then, start to play with the driver. On glxinfo, everything's fine, except for an... X Error of failed request: BadDrawable (invalid Pixmap or Window parameter) Major opcode of failed request: 136 (XFree86-DRI) Minor opcode of failed request: 9 () Resource id in failed request: 0x504 Serial number of failed request: 44 Current serial number in output stream: 44 - ...let's assume that this error it was, possibly, by the terminal emulator from XFCE. Next, glxgears. Garbage screen, black screen, X reboot. Back to the login screen. Opening evolution, and start to work on it, then it close by itself. Browsers, no problem. Flash also works OK. Video? NO way. Garbage screen, X reboot. So, after this testing, trying with and downloading (and by the way, synaptic won't let me downgrade. Fixing sources.list from maverick to lucid did the trick), and voila. As Hans say, no problem at all. glxgears runs smooth (as smooth this Video card can), and the rest? OK, too. Checking /var/log/Xorg.0.log , Why is DRI2 being load? I'll think that DRI2 can't be supported on this card. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 625321] Re: Xorg assert failure: X: ../../../include/privates.h:122: dixGetPrivateAddr: Assertion `key-initialized' failed.
To amend my previous comment: it works fine when running Maverick natively on my Thinkpad X60 (Intel 945GM GPU), but fails when running inside VirtualBox with guest additions installed from virtualbox-ose- guest-x11 package, as well as with the guest additions shipping with nonfree VirtualBox.
