[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 682304] [NEW] bug when resize any window with keyboard in GNOME

2010-11-28 Thread LexRiver
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

1) Press Alt+Space to open context menu for any window.
2) Select Resize.
3) Press Right several times, then Left several times
4) Press Down several times, then press Up several times
5) Press Left several times, then press Right several times
6) Pres Up several times, then press Down several times
7) Repeat steps 3 to 6 several times
Resizing becomes completely buggy. Cursor becomes far away from any edge of a
window. Width and height of window resizes in buggy way, window jumps, etc...

A good example of keyboard resizing is in MsWindows. Only right and down
edge of window can be moved. And also Shift and Alt modificators keys
can be used.

Please fix this!

I'm using Ubuntu 10.10.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 675765] Re: Screen corrupted after boot (white vertical bars)

2010-11-28 Thread Cpp
Okay, I'm out of ideas.

I did some research and it appears this bug is more widespread than I
previously thought. It would seem there is a problem in the maverick
kernel that prevents some nvidia drivers from loading according to
certain reports. I guess my best bet is to wait for a kernel fix.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 482875] Re: [CLE266]Since upgrade from jaunty to karmic, one of two thin clients' login broken (AIGLX problem).

2010-11-28 Thread gcc
I found the same problem with an Aleutia E2 (VIA Eden CX700/VX700,
openchrome), lucid, LTSP thin client.

It appears to be caused by this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/673072

Note that it usually, but not always, fails to log in from ldm on the
LTSP client. The session crashes after about 3 seconds of spinning wheel
wait cursor, and I get kicked back to the login screen.

There is a workaround that you could try in that bug report: force gnome
to use metacity instead of compiz as the window manager.

not displayed on the open GL dock on start-up. When I then change the

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 682143] Re: Nvidia settings doesn't allow to set clock frequencies even if coolbits = 1

2010-11-28 Thread McKenzie
I forgot, i am using nvidia-current binary driver (260.19.06-0ubuntu1)

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: nvidia-settings

I enabled coolbits in Xorg.conf (attached) then I started nvidia
settings, enabled overclocking but after changing the sliders and click
apply they reset to original position and nvidia settings sets the
  default values.

  I tried the command line:
  sudo nvidia-settings --assign GPU3DClockFreqs=160,125

- Attribute 'GPU3DClockFreqs' (kenzy-laptop:0.0) assigned value 160,125.
+   Attribute 'GPU3DClockFreqs' (kenzy-laptop:0.0) assigned value 160,125.

  After that:
  sudo nvidia-settings --query GPU3DClockFreqs

- Attribute 'GPU3DClockFreqs' (kenzy-laptop:0.0): 640,500.
- The valid values for 'GPU3DClockFreqs' are in the ranges 160 - 1280, 125 -
- 1416 (inclusive).
- 'GPU3DClockFreqs' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.
+   Attribute 'GPU3DClockFreqs' (kenzy-laptop:0.0): 640,500.
+ The valid values for 'GPU3DClockFreqs' are in the ranges 160 - 1280, 125 -
+ 1416 (inclusive).
+ 'GPU3DClockFreqs' can use the following target types: X Screen, GPU.

Don't know if it's related to the driver or nvidia-settings. I even
tried to upgrade my nvidia-settings to latest version, same problem.

Neither Xorg log nor dmesg report something about nvidia driver that
  seems related to this problem.

With lucid everythings works okay. Also found another user with the same
problem:
  http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10113085

  Everything worked okay in lucid.
+
+ EDIT: I am using nvidia-current binary driver (260.19.06-0ubuntu1)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 677696] Re: Synaptics Touchpad not working in Ubuntu 10.10

2010-11-28 Thread Gursimran singh Mohar
@Earl
I don't think that its a BIOS issue because I have seen many similar bugs in
ubuntu. There are other similar issue after suspend/resume but not related to
touchpads.. So the problem may be in ubuntu suspend resume.

This happens when playing world of warcraft in wine. It triggers either
when switching between zones, or on first start. If it hangs on first

middle. The entire screen freezes at that point.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665460] Re: [VX800] White screen after installing drivers

2010-11-28 Thread Alberto Jovio
I try 5.75.32 drivers. 87th-u1004-55689 at 10.10 Ubuntu 64 bit
restarting does not start in mode text seems the drivers are 32-bit
therefore are not compatible with U 1010 according with what I saw in
the log:

dlopen: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/via_drv.so: wrong ELF class:
ELFCLASS32

I believe that in the page drivers should indicate that they are 32-bit
and do not work in 64-bit good starts in safe graphics mode I install
drivers via-xserver-87th-55727_src without uninstalling the previous
problem that gave by is 32-bit well after restart if loaded via drivers
but does not display image in the internal monitor that sample is a
black screen with some lines as static on the external monitor when
image is displayed when you try to add the lines:

Option ForcePanel
Option PanelSize 1280×800

evice and restart starts in text mode log shows the following:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 675038] Re: Screen Flickers, sometimes Unable to use computer

2010-11-28 Thread Caboose
Yep I would say its the same exact bug. I just filed a new one just so
it would hopefully make things easier for the developers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 677700] Re: Touchpad single-click registers double-click, and sometimes two middle-clicks

2010-11-28 Thread mxyzptlk
apport information

** Description changed:

Using Synaptics touchpad, set to use single-clicks instead of double-clicks.
Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick, 64-bit (clean install) on a Lenovo IdeaPad Y510
Single-clicks and tap-to-clicks register as double-clicks, and other weirdness

Often and randomly, the left-click and sometimes the tap-to-click will
register double-clicks instead of single-clicks. This results in
problems like closing tabs in browsers when clicking on them. Also
affects drags, which horribly screws up text when trying to drag a chunk
of text from one place to another in the document. At times just moving
the mouse across a document will result in selecting text, despite the
fact that no double-click occurred to actually select any text, and the
unintentionally-selected text is then dragged or copied and pasted to
some other part of the document.

Have also noticed that at times a single-click or tap-to-click results
in something like two middle-clicks, or even a right-click and then the
top-menu item. For instance, clicking on a tab in Chromium or Firefox
doesn't simply select the tab, but instead opens two new tabs.

This is a new problem on Maverick; it's never happened in the past, and
doesn't occur using Windows in a virtual machine. I've seen similar bug
reports, but they're old and for regular mice, not for touchpads. I'm not sure
what debugging info to offer since this is so random and doesn't result in an
actual crash.
