[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 696670] Re: HDMI sound output only works if laptop monitor is on
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: xorg + Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati I'm using Ubuntu 10.10, fully updated from the regular repositories. I connect my laptop to an HDTV through HDMI, configuring it through Preferences - Monitors. I switch sound output to HDMI in System - Preferences - Sound - Output. This works flawlessly as long as I somehow use my laptop monitor, meaning that I either mirror the screens or use an extended desktop. If I turn off the laptop monitor there is no sound output through the HDMI; turning back on the laptop monitor restores sound output to the TV. Switching back to the regular output device works as expected. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 566437] Re: package fglrx 2:8.723.1-0ubuntu2 failed to REMOVE: error exit status 2 - dpkg-divert: mismatch on package - while removing the package
This bug was fixed in the package fglrx-installer - 2:8.801-0ubuntu1 --- fglrx-installer (2:8.801-0ubuntu1) natty; urgency=low * New upstream release 8.801 (10-12). * debian/control: - Add Vcs-Git and Vcs-Browser. * debian/fglrx.postrm: - Do not remove diversions. Those diversions were likely installed by older releases of the driver (since we don't use diversions any more). Any diversion should be removed in fglrx.preinst, as it's exactly where we remove all other diversions (LP: #566437). * debian/fglrx.prerm: - Call dpkg-trigger with --by-package=$PACKAGE_NAME. * Add support for blacklisting card ids from GRUB gfxpayload=keep: - In Natty gfxpayload=keep is set by default so as to provide a framebuffer early in the boot process. Some cards don't play nicely with it, therefore we need to blacklist them in a file. Setting to medium priority since it just occurred the one time. Bug #686388 has similar error code but different gpu dump, probably not related. I would like to forward this bug report upstream in case it has value to them, but need to clarify one thing first. You said Next day i opened ntb and tried to login into system. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 691037] Re: nvidia-settings window expands to extremely wide size, crashing metacity
The Gdk-ERROR message in comment #4 is just a standard error that's printed when an X call fails in a gtk program, it doesn't actually provide any diagnostic information. The one issue that might be particular to nvidia-settings is why the dialog window was so wide to begin with? Did it size itself to that, or was it adjusted to that with manually? I assume the latter but if not, that might be worth investigation as an nvidia-settings bug. But regardless, metacity shouldn't be crashing in this case. I'll refile against metacity for further analysis. You might try seeing if you can reproduce the metacity crash with other gtk programs when resized very wide. Also, you should run apport- collect 691037 to add required debug info to the bug report. ** Package changed: nvidia-settings (Ubuntu) = metacity (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: metacity (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/691037 Title: nvidia-settings window expands to extremely wide size, crashing metacity ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 541511] Re: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash)
I have previously used the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/GitKernelBuild . Instead of getting the vanilla upstream kernel in #2, I would use the drm-intel-next head from git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/ickle/drm-intel.git. Then you would need to apply the patch before going on. If you have a faster newer computer, I would recommend building on that one, because compiling a kernel on the computers that have an 855GM chipset tends to be slow. You will need to use the 32-bit version of Ubuntu on that machine, though. It is probably better to use Maverick than Lucid for testing this. Natty even better. With Natty, you should be able to steal most of the kernel configuration from the drm-intel-next mainline build in step 4 (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds). I haven't done this in quite a while, so I don't remember all there is to it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541511 Title: MASTER: [i855] GPU lockup (apport-crash) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 656241] Re: Mixxx with ATI graphics card (using FGLRX) crashes Ubuntu
It has been proposed that we share the QGLContext. I have seen the code which is disabled for now. It is actually sharing a QGLWidget. This does not necessarily share the underlying QGLContext, as is explained here: http://www.qtcentre.org/threads/24782-Whats-the-difference-in-sharing-a -QGLContext-and-sharing-a-QGLWidget Just thought I'd jot that information down here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/656241 Title: Mixxx with ATI graphics card (using FGLRX) crashes Ubuntu ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 669417] Re: [Intel GMA500] Visual glitches and crash (Maverick and Natty)
I'm not sure whether we can support Poulsbo due to the drivers not providing the features that we need. Poulsbo also is not being actively supported by its vendor any longer, and since its 3D component is closed source proprietary, that limits the support that can be done at the distro level. It's questionable how much general developer time is worth investing into issues related to this driver (although it could make sense for oem projects). EMGD I gather requires xserver 1.8, which we did not package for any ubuntu release. There might be a PPA around with it. I'm not sure short of retrograding our xserver back to 1.8 that we can provide this driver for ubuntu. Hopefully this time Intel will actively support EMGD and put out a release for xserver 1.9 or 1.10 that we can use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-psb in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/669417 Title: [Intel GMA500] Visual glitches and crash (Maverick and Natty) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 448719] Re: cannot switch users - using dual screens
I'm not the original poster either and this problem is most definitely NOT fixed for me. I'm currently running Natty. I used to have a dual- screen setup, but I've had to sacrifice one of those monitors to set up an old computer as a server and see what I was doing while working with a laptop with a fractured screen. I have restarted for various reasons since the first instance of this bug but it persists. This is especially an issue since my proselytizing for Ubuntu rings a little hollow when my OS can't even switch between users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/448719 Title: cannot switch users - using dual screens ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
