[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703210] [NEW] Power converter kits for international travel negatively affects touchpad

2011-01-15 Thread Eric Appleman
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics

I'm in Israel right now and I have my adapter set up properly with my
laptop, but the touchpad is flipping out.

Cursor jumps randomly and clicks even when I haven't clicked.

My USB mouse is not affected and the problem with the touchpad
disappears once unplugged.

this be some other program interfering? How do I find what's going on?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703272] Re: Xorg crash

2011-01-15 Thread mcuelenaere
This doesn't seem to be an Xorg nor chromium bug, but an i915 DRM one
(kernel):

I'm not able to attach multiple files (?) so I'll paste the rather short
gdb log here (couldn't get a backtrace as Xorg got killed):

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703314] [NEW] Xorg does not return from suspend

2011-01-15 Thread Greg Grossmeier
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

This is happening on a regular basis.

I close my laptop's lid which causes it to go to suspend (according to
the indicator on the laptop it was successful). When I open the lid the
screen stays completely black except for my mouse.

I am able to CTRL+ALT+F1 to a terminal. This is where I am displayed a
stream of errors (see picture).

I'm not sure what to do from that terminal to get Xorg back, so I just
restart the laptop. It works at that point.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590057] Re: gnome does not start after an update

2011-01-15 Thread Photon
I'm experiencing a similar bug: After the update of the 12. December X
failed to start, I got a black screen and the keyboard didn't respond. I
removed the xorg.conf file (thus changing from the fglrx to the radeon
driver) and this resulted in following behavior: still a black screen
but with a movable cursor and a working keyboard (however it freezes
completely after some time). Creating a clean user didn't change
anything. But logging in via a rescue Gnome session worked. I compared
the .xsession-errors files from a normal Gnome session and a rescue
Gnome session and found the same lines as the original reporter. I
attach both .xsession-errors files and the dpkg log of the last updates
before the problem appeared.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703363] [NEW] Dual monitor display does not work correctly

2011-01-15 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Before upgrading to maverick from lucid, I was able to run an extended
desktop across both the internal 1920x1080 monitor and an external
1920x1080 monitor connected via HDMI.

Since upgrading, configuring this setup causes both monitors to drop
back into a lower resolution; at this point in time it is not possible
to drop back to a single monitor running at 1920x1080 unless the
propriety ATI drivers are un-installed and re-installed (with associated
reboots).

 Title:
[i865] Nautilus lockup with jpg file thumbnail creation

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
   New

 Bug description:
   Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

I have been using trial of ubuntu from cdrom.

i have been trying to copy from XFS drive to FAT32, both are USB.
Files get only so far and nautilus stops dead. I have somewhat traced
this to having difficulties displaying thumbnails along with file
names. Folders hang up and all file activities crash. Can't unmount
volumes, etc. Killing nautilus doesn't help and I'm not skilled
enough to get it to restart. Some other crash reports include compiz
process, but that doesn't seem to help either.

There are hundreds of photos in this one folder.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 681054] Re: screen repeatedly goes black for a fraction of a second

2011-01-15 Thread Cobalt
a) With a live CD for natty, the display is fine up to the screen where
I am shown the menu that includes using Ubuntu without installing. Once
I choose this option the display changes and the name ubuntu appears,
underscored by five dots whose color changes from white to red and back
to show that the computer is doing work. It is there that the screen
starts to blink.

b) For maverick, the PPA gives no improvement. Since there are dozens of
processes even at startup, many run by root, I am not sure which ones to
kill short of taking down gnome. Could you perhaps suggest candidates?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703255] [NEW] Edid quirk entries in xorg.0.log

2011-01-15 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi
I've noticed a fairly long startup time.
Looking at Xorg.0.log I notice a lot of entries about EDID quirk.
I think the edid data from the inbuilt monitor is in a different format than
what the intel video driver is expecting.
First bug report and quite new to linux so forgive me if something is missing
or just written the wrong way.
Thanks
Stefano

2011-01-15 Thread Dave Gilbert
