[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703314] [NEW] Xorg does not return from suspend
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg This is happening on a regular basis. I close my laptop's lid which causes it to go to suspend (according to the indicator on the laptop it was successful). When I open the lid the screen stays completely black except for my mouse. I am able to CTRL+ALT+F1 to a terminal. This is where I am displayed a stream of errors (see picture). I'm not sure what to do from that terminal to get Xorg back, so I just restart the laptop. It works at that point. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590057] Re: gnome does not start after an update
I'm experiencing a similar bug: After the update of the 12. December X failed to start, I got a black screen and the keyboard didn't respond. I removed the xorg.conf file (thus changing from the fglrx to the radeon driver) and this resulted in following behavior: still a black screen but with a movable cursor and a working keyboard (however it freezes completely after some time). Creating a clean user didn't change anything. But logging in via a rescue Gnome session worked. I compared the .xsession-errors files from a normal Gnome session and a rescue Gnome session and found the same lines as the original reporter. I attach both .xsession-errors files and the dpkg log of the last updates before the problem appeared. ** Attachment added: .xsession-errors_freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/590057/+attachment/1794913/+files/.xsession-errors_freeze -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590057 Title: gnome does not start after an update ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703363] [NEW] Dual monitor display does not work correctly
Public bug reported: Before upgrading to maverick from lucid, I was able to run an extended desktop across both the internal 1920x1080 monitor and an external 1920x1080 monitor connected via HDMI. Since upgrading, configuring this setup causes both monitors to drop back into a lower resolution; at this point in time it is not possible to drop back to a single monitor running at 1920x1080 unless the propriety ATI drivers are un-installed and re-installed (with associated reboots). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 681054] Re: screen repeatedly goes black for a fraction of a second
a) With a live CD for natty, the display is fine up to the screen where I am shown the menu that includes using Ubuntu without installing. Once I choose this option the display changes and the name ubuntu appears, underscored by five dots whose color changes from white to red and back to show that the computer is doing work. It is there that the screen starts to blink. b) For maverick, the PPA gives no improvement. Since there are dozens of processes even at startup, many run by root, I am not sure which ones to kill short of taking down gnome.
