Not sure whether this is because of this patch, but since the last version of xserver-xorg-input-evdev in -proposed, left click will sometimes (about 2% of clicks maybe) act as a middle click (meaning a text will be pasted when selecting a textarea, or a tab will be closed in a browser when selecting it)... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/670016 Title: [SRU] Xorg crashes when performing gesture ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670663] [NEW] Unusable system after resume from suspend on Toshiba A660
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: pm-utils Suspending to RAM appears to work OK, screen blanks, and power LED flashes slowly. However, after resuming from suspend, the desktop is barely responsive. One or a combination of the following are observed: - the screen remains black - the mouse cursor is not rendered - Gnome panel system monitor pauses for long (few seconds) periods. The problem occurs after every resume, but worked without issue on Lucid. No flashing caps-lock. Changing to a terminal using Ctrl+alt+f1 works, but working with the terminal is still very laggy. Attached are dmesg from immediately after a resume from suspend using: sudo sh -c sync; echo 1 /sys/power/pm_trace; pm-suspend Also, lsmod. Please give guidance on any further info required. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703569] [NEW] no video signal and system totally unresponsive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nv I am reporting this bug because it was recommended to do so in bug 160264, in comment 148 . I have a freshly installed ubuntu-10.04 (lucid), 32-bit, with all updates appllied and then the recommended propriatary NVidia driver 173.14.22 installed. (Visual effects off however.) The machine uses a Pentium 4 processor and NVidia GeForce FX 5600 card. The steps which led to the buggy behaviour were as follows. 1.) There are two users accounts (the user with adminitrative rights, say A, and an ordinary user, say B) on the machine. 2.) User B logged into graphical session. 3.) User A also opened his own graphical session. 4.) Several switches between the two users were made. 5.) User A tried to close his session (log off). The screen immediatelly got black without any video signal. The whole system became totally unresponsive (including no response to Ctrl-Alt-F1 or Alt-Ctrl-F1 and similar combinations, also Ctrl-Alt-Del.) I just add that my report looks to be the same as the bug 112518 which itself is said to be duplicate of bug 160264. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703602] [NEW] Brightness controls not working
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I first noticed that my screen was too bright and tried to adjust the brightness with Fn-F5. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 703673] [NEW] Display fails to correctly initialize if keyboard is not connected during boot
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Steps to reproduce: 1. Shut down the computer if running. 2. Disconnect USB keyboard connector (it does not matter if USB mouse is connected or not) 3. Boot Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Expected results: System boots up normally, one cannot login with GDM until a USB keyboard is connected (because password cannot be typed without a keyboard). Actual results: System boots up to black screen / invalid scan frequency / DPMS power off / disconnected DVI port (I don't know because I cannot diagnose the actual problem - at least my display goes to sleep and does not alert about invalid scan frequency). Hitting CTRL+ALT+F1 (or any other virtual console) does not end up getting the display up. I can still reboot the system with Alt+SysRq+B at will if I connect an USB keyboard.. Hardware: Motherboard: Intel DG45ID Display: HP ZR24w connected with a single link DVI connector running at 1920x1200@60 (correctly detected if booted with keyboard attached, uses KMS at least in normal boot process) Keyboard: Logitech Deluxe 250 (basic 105 button USB keyboard) normally connected via HP ZR24w Mouse: Logitech RX 250 connected via HP ZR24w Note that the problem occurs only if boot without USB keyboard connected at all so the problem is not using the display as USB hub. Also note that this motherboard does not have any legacy connectors (IDE or PS/2) and I've tried with both USB legacy support enabled and disabled. I'd expect that the system could boot up without display, keyboard or mouse and any of those could be hot-plugged in. Perhaps I've misunderstood the currently supported features? The system had originally a CRT display connected via DVI-I/VGA adapter and has been upgraded to current display with DVI-D connection. Installing the 96.43.19 from maverick-proposed solved the issue on my Dell Latitude D800 oldie (GeForce4 4200 Go card). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 685727] Re: When i upgraded to 10.10 the screen on my laptop(Gateway nv79) went completely black and I could not see anything unless I held a flashlight to the screen to see. The
I have the same problem upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10 on my Gateway NV79. Booting with kernel 2.6.35-24 has this problem. Booting with 2.6.32.27 (the previous kernel for 10.04?) at least gets me back to a working display. Here's a description of when the issue occurs during booting: At first, for a while, a single _ appears in the upper left of display. Then a single line status message appears very briefly (less than 1 second) and it is difficult to recall what it says .. something about intel and 0.0.0.0. Then when the display goes black with an audible sound of a switch clicking .. same sound occurs during normal boot when it precedes the display showing a full xserver service occuring. I suspect that either the display chip has been turned off or (more likely) the display itself has been turned off (or just the backlight?). I cannot figure out any other settings that I can adjust. Please advise a work-around or patch this quickly.
