[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 414330] Re: When using vesa driver system with S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266] crashes when leaving graphics mode

2011-01-17 Thread Tormod Volden
Please be more specific, is this with the 1:2.3.1-2ubuntu2.1 from
maverick-proposed? In that case, does it work fine with
1:2.3.1-2ubuntu2?

The corrupted consoles are often seen after a server crash, can you
please attach /var/log/gdm/:0.log.1 just after the corruption is seen?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch) via the nwfermi (proprietary) driver

2011-01-17 Thread WebNuLL
I tested nwfermi0.5 on Ubuntu and Gentoo Linux but multi-touch is still
not working.

My device:
Bus 001 Device 008: ID 1926:0086 NextWindow 1950 HID Touchscreen

I just see single mouse, cant touch more than one point on screen - its
looks like single touch.

On Ubuntu i just installed package and restarted computer, on Gentoo
Linux i copied all files, built kernel module, modified xorg
configuration - it should work but it isn't.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Re: MASTER: support graphics card hot switch

2011-01-17 Thread NakedNous
Hi all,

Asus N53Jq with nvidia GT 425M.

sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name sudo dmidecode -s system-version
N53Jq
1.0

lspci -vnnn | perl -lne 'print if /^\d+\:.+(\[\S+\:\S+\])/' | grep VGA
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: nVidia Corporation Device [10de:0df0]
(rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])

I was surprised when I ran the above command since I didn't get any
intel vga output. I supposed my model should have it. Am I missing
something? I'd run the test_off.sh script after being sure about my
config.

Regards,

Jean Pierre

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 379313] Re: Handling NextWindow Touchscreen (multitouch) via the nwfermi (proprietary) driver

2011-01-17 Thread djp
As far as I know the X included with ubuntu does not handle multitouch
input directly. Ubuntu has a multitouch framework called uTouch (not
installed on the desktop edition by default
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch).

If you want to relatively easily test if the kernel multitouch
information is being supplied a good example is the PyMT demo
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/PyMT).

Although my X input driver might be blocking the gesture daemon
somehow...

Anyhow post bug reports at https://bugs.launchpad.net/nwfermi

This happens all the time with Firefox 2.0, but it's a little more tricky to
get it to happen with Minefield.
With Firefox 2.0: hovering the top Flash banner in the site given above always
makes the cursor flicker (happens because of the scrolling text below it).
With Minefield: sometimes you can get the same behavior as Firefox 2, more or
less randomly (depends on various factors, like lost focus, it seems). What
happens everytime, however, is when your cursor is out of the banner, and you
then move it over the banner. It will flicker for a split second at first (from
arrow to hand pointer), then the hand pointer will stay.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move your cursor over the Flash banner
Actual Results:
Cursor flickers (can cause lag too).

Expected Results:
No cursor flickering.

Just move your cursor over the Flash banner very slowly, and you should

Yes, it still happens (with Minefield). It's subtle, though.
As you move the cursor over the banner, it quickly switches from arrow to hand,
then back to arrow again, and finally to hand. It shouldn't turn back to arrow.

weird but effective workaround: Do this in a working displayable kernel (for
me: 2.6.32-27):
system preferences power management
On AC Power tab; DISPLAY section: set display brightness to: change from
100% to 85%.
then reboot to kernel 2.6.35-24 .. and the backlight is on and everything
displays great!

BTW: I was referencing http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-help-here

thinking that it is a power management issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 626974] Re: ABI change in xorg 1.9 breaks legacy nvidia-96 drivers in Maverick

2011-01-17 Thread Geoff
I installed jocky-gtk, jockey-common, nvidia-96, nvidia-96-modaliases
from maverick-proposed on my Dell desktop with a Geforce3 Ti 200.
Problem solved. However, there was a side effect: now vino-server
aborts with ** ERROR **: Failed to register GObject with
DBusConnection. Is there something else that I need to update
something else to maverick-proposed?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 704284] [NEW] unacceptable mplayer performance on hd playback in natty

2011-01-17 Thread Cyrus Harmon
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Playing HD videos in mplayer generally worked in maverick (some minor
audio issues, perhaps, but that's another story). In natty, performance
is unacceptable. Not sure how to measure this, but it feels as if
playback is 10 fps.
