[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 513482] Re: a java program that causes X windows to hang

2011-02-03 Thread Timo Aaltonen
the robot changed the upstream bug link, that's what happened. The
launchpad bug has been open all the time, but I'll reassign it to the
sun-java6 package where it belongs.

** Package changed: nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 (Ubuntu) => sun-java6

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 705078] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in pixman_image_set_has_client_clip()

2011-02-03 Thread Bryce Harrington
xorg-server (2:1.9.99.901+git20110131.be3be758-0ubuntu3) natty;
urgency=low

  * Restore 208_switch_on_release.diff - the patch does not appear to be
upstream actually. Users confirm the fix regressed without it.
(LP: #711842)
  * Add 210_pixman_null_ptr_check.patch: pixman_image_create_bits() can
return NULL under a variety of circumstances, thus needs checked
before dereferencing it in the pixman_image_set_has_client_clip()
call.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 705078] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in pixman_image_set_has_client_clip()

2011-02-03 Thread Bryce Harrington
While not precisely the same crash, deb #596155 and fdo #28882 bugs are
all faulting on the same bit of code. create_bits_picture() attempts to
instantiate an image via a call to pixman_image_create_bits(), however
that call can fail under a variety of circumstances and return a NULL
image pointer. This is then passed unchecked to
pixman_image_set_has_client_clip() where it is dereferenced and
generates a seg fault as a result.

Not sure why this bug is marked high since it won't be fixed as the bug
is in the LCD firmware.

Is everyone affected by this bug running Lucid? If so, have you tried
playing on Maverick with the same card? If on Maverick, have any tried
on Natty? There is a large possibility that the shader support might
have landed in one of those releases.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 706783] Re: [KM400] Xorg crash on Ubuntu 10.10

2011-02-03 Thread eyeshavings
both xorg.0.log files look the same to me except for probed value of
VideoRAM which matches BIOS changes.

I have nothing in the AGP slot or PCI slot, all video is handled on the
motherboard. I don't know if it is significant that the log appears to
me to be setting values for AGP.

My regular standard ratio monitor just kicked over one day and I bought
the first widescreen acer on sale. Maybe the BIOS got angry with that
and the Ubuntu upgrade.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 705078] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in pixman_image_set_has_client_clip()

2011-02-03 Thread Bryce Harrington
I'm noticing the crash appears in a libpixman call, the source code of
which is trivial:

PIXMAN_EXPORT void
pixman_image_set_has_client_clip (pixman_image_t *image,
  pixman_bool_t   client_clip)
{
image->common.client_clip = client_clip;
}

Looks like it could segfault if image was NULL.

Are you able to reproduce this crash, or did it happen just the one
time?

Also I wonder if the backtrace is invalid; the line numbers do not
actually map up to the xserver 1.9.99 codebase. Is it possible you had
upgraded to the new X, but hadn't fully rebooted yet? Please elaborate
further on what you were doing when you encountered this bug.

I'll dupe to that bug, undupe if you find I'm wrong.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 708744] Re: Xorg segfaults during installation process

2011-02-03 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: xorg

  We're attempting to install from a Natty daily image, through the
  network and using a preseed file.

  The installation starts normally and goes up to a certain point, but
  then the installer exits and we're dropped to the LiveCD graphical
  environment. Sometimes a "system program failed" message appears.

  syslog shows a sefgault on Xorg, which is probably what's causing the
  installer to die.

  This particular trace was produced on a Dell Vostro 3400, though the
  problem has been observed on other machines as well.

  The installation worked before: the last known good image we tried was
  from 20110112. The first one where we observed this problem was
  20110119. We also tried 20110120, 20110121 and the latest one today
  (2011-01-27).
