[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 705078] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in pixman_image_set_has_client_clip()
While not precisely the same crash, deb #596155 and fdo #28882 bugs are all faulting on the same bit of code. create_bits_picture() attempts to instantiate an image via a call to pixman_image_create_bits(), however that call can fail under a variety of circumstances and return a NULL image pointer. This is then passed unchecked to pixman_image_set_has_client_clip() where it is dereferenced and generates a seg fault as a result. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/705078 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in pixman_image_set_has_client_clip() ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 708744] Re: Xorg segfaults during installation process
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg We're attempting to install from a Natty daily image, through the network and using a preseed file. The installation starts normally and goes up to a certain point, but then the installer exits and we're dropped to the LiveCD graphical environment. Sometimes a "system program failed" message appears. syslog shows a sefgault on Xorg, which is probably what's causing the installer to die. This particular trace was produced on a Dell Vostro 3400, though the problem has been observed on other machines as well. The installation worked before: the last known good image we tried was from 20110112. The first one where we observed this problem was 20110119. We also tried 20110120, 20110121 and the latest one today (2011-01-27). + + [ 134.829] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.829] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.829] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.829] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.830] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.830] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.830] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.830] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.830] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.831] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.831] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.831] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.831] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory + [ 134.836] + Backtrace: + [ 134.836] 0: X (xorg_backtrace+0x3b) [0x80e83bb] + [ 134.836] 1: X (0x8048000+0x5d4f8) [0x80a54f8] + [ 134.836] 2: (vdso) (__kernel_rt_sigreturn+0x0) [0xa1940c] + [ 134.836] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (0x384000+0x16ff0) [0x39aff0] + [ 134.836] 4: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libfb.so (fbComposite+0x121) [0x39b241] + [ 134.836] 5: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x794000+0x2faf6) [0x7c3af6] + [ 134.836] 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0x794000+0x2c330) [0x7c0330] + [ 134.836] 7: X (0x8048000+0xdb0f2) [0x81230f2] + [ 134.836] 8: X (CompositePicture+0x22b) [0x811822b] + [ 134.836] 9: X (0x8048000+0xd3d39) [0x811bd39] + [ 134.836] 10: X (0x8048000+0xd0a33) [0x8118a33] + [ 134.836] 11: X (0x8048000+0x276c7) [0x806f6c7] + [ 134.836] 12: X (0x8048000+0x1a64c) [0x806264c] + [ 134.836] 13: /lib/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xe6) [0x12cce6] + [ 134.837] 14: X (0x8048000+0x1a241) [0x8062241] + [ 134.837] Segmentation fault at address 0x20 + [ 134.837] + Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault).
