[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 725911] [NEW] Logitech wireless mouse recognition variable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Hi, I don't know if this is an Xorg problem, but I don't know where to put this bug. Apologies in advance if this is the wrong place. I have found that my Logitech mouse is not usually recognised on first boot. Restarting the computer will sometimes clear the problem. I encountered the same problem in Alpha 1 of Natty; but it seems to be worse in Alpha 2. In the last release, the mouse was systematically not seen when first booted from cold; however, a restart almost always cleared the problem. But with the Alpha 2 release I find that it is sometimes necessary to restart the computer several times before the mouse is seen. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 725927] [NEW] System freezes when trying to switch users
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I have an i865, when I try to switch between users, the system appears to freeze -- if I switch from the session indicator applet, I just get a black screen, if from the screensaver unlock window, that window stays visible. Pressing Alt-SysRq-k usually manages to kill (and restart) the original X server, allowing me to log in again. When I put the hard-disk into a different PC (with an i855) switching users works (but xv is broken -- different issue). I think this issue is heavy, you cannot afford your OS crashing and losing your data and valuable time two or three times each day anyway I found the problem fires with a heavy memory load, not a heavy CPU load, i tested the netbook with 2GB instead the default 1GB and the problem fired just once i think the problem is related to the fact the intel chipset uses a dinamic amount of RAM from the RAM card and maybe at somepoint they cannot resolve how to deal with it... when RAM is full at RAM and Video lvl and both demand for more... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/721577 Title: xorg crashes on heavy load ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 297428] Re: /etc/X11/xkb/base.xml is ignored (wrong documentation)
If I may interject here: I too need this previous feature to work again. I have learned (the hard way) how to edit evdev.xml so that my custom keyboard definition for the Nuer language (Sudan) appears in Kubuntu 10.04 at Control Center | Regional and Language | Keyboard Layout | Layout. IIUC from the comments here, that is going to disappear next time I upgrade. I guess I am requesting as well that this issue be cared for. While it is indeed a 'power user' feature, surely an African distro that is made for 'the people' should be able to handle custom keyboards in the language of that people. It should not take a degree in computing to bring this about. The user should not have to hand-edit config files to get what is needed, only to have them overwritten the next time he/she upgrades. I am not the only one needing this feature either: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10499753#post10499753 I appreciate greatly the work of the many volunteers that make this project go, and I am not complaining. I am just a simple user that has come to depend on this excellent distro for my day to day needs, and I am making a polite request that it be cared for. If I should be posting this info elsewhere, then please let me know. And, thanks again, folks, for all your hard work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 726142] [NEW] Wacom tablet mouse does not work properly when monitor set to vertical resolution
Public bug reported: I have a new Lenovo X201 tablet computer with a Wacom tablet screen. I have Gnome 2.32.1 kernel 2.6.35-8-generic Natty Studio with all updates I turn the monitor to Left Rotation via Monitor / Preferences / Rotation / Left (to read a book, for example) All three of the mousing capabilities (the touch screen, the touchpad and the red button in the middle) don't track my movements. The mouse seems to move independently of anything I do to it. Sometimes it seems to work in an opposite fashion to the way it's supposed to, but then it sort of changes it's mind. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647610] Re: kwin_opengl_test crashed with SIGSEGV in XF86DRIQueryVersion()
Howdy, I'm not running Ubuntu yet but you might be interested in this info anyway. This is Fedora Core 14, fully up to date. I did an Ask.com search and got a hit on this code. I have filed a bug at bugzilla.redhat.com. I get corefiles frequently from this code: /usr/libexec/kde4/kwin_opengl_test. Did it come from ATI? Should I file a bug with them for this? I keep getting core files with the following gdb info. They seem to appear in relation to logging out from KDE 4.5.5 but may be happening at other times as well. Periodically I get a strange event on the display. It's like the monitor got a shock. It seems to show the contents of a buffer that QUICKLY re-asserts itself before you can read it. Maybe a core file results from this? I'll start watching... Just got an event... checking... Argh! No perceivable timestamps... I'll include my current Xorg.0.log file... Anything I can do to help with this bug? George... gdb core.3943 GNU gdb (GDB) Fedora (7.2-45.fc14) Copyright (C) 2010 Free Software Foundation, Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 607399] Re: Loading the nvidia driver causes kernel oops in maverick, natty
Bitten. Wasted my weekend on it. I've been running various kernels nvidia drivers for a long time, even switching hardware along the way, without any issue whatsoever and out of the blue i get that oops. The funniest part is i cannot get rid of it: i've tried every available kernels (from 2.6.32 up to 2.6.37) and drivers (from 195.* up to 270.*), then downgraded every remotely related packages (xorg*, libs and more), yet it still oops. It's infuriating. As i knew my hardware system were just fine, out of desperation, i've given a fresh ubuntu 10.10 live cd a try... booted, jockeyed and no fuss, no muss, got a working 260.19.06. Revived by such wondrous sight, i've exported its magic list of package/version and applied that (well, part of it) to my dysfunctional system. No luck, still oopsing. Noticed that now almost similar systems produced different binaries. So i went medieval and simply grafted the live-cd's module binary. Success. Conclusion: apparently some maverick update screws the build system for that module, even if the exact reason/culprit still escapes me right now (and i have downgraded just about everything at this point...). TL; DR: for a quick fix, use a fresh live cd to produce a sane module. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/607399 Title: Loading the nvidia driver causes kernel oops in maverick, natty ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
