[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727979] Re: Screen flicker approx. every 30 seconds

2011-03-14 Thread Renzo Bagnati
I have the same problem with a Radeon X1300 card and it can be fixed using the
'radeon.modeset=0' kernel option, so I guess it is related to KMS.
The problem was not present in ubuntu 10.04 and started to show in 10.10. It is
still present in 11.04 alpha 3.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734718] [NEW] [i946gz] GPU lockup 26fab23b () before login

2011-03-14 Thread Adrine
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

The system crashes before login in gdm just after usplash, keyboard and
mouse not responding. switching to other ttys before the crash helps
logging in, one of the ttys show an interrupts disabled error (or
similar, really helpless in this condition to reproduce and report the
error, but i'l try my best). Using the failsafeX helps to login to the
desktop, but without any WM.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734756] [NEW] Blank screen when booting with external monitor

2011-03-14 Thread feffemannen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When booting with external monitor connected and switched on (with or without
the laptop lid closed) most of the time I get a black screen after gdm starts.
However booting with the external monitor connected but switched off I get the
correct gnome-desktop on the internal monitor.. Then switching on the external
screen after logging in gives me desktops on both internal and external
monitor. As expected.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555660] Re: NVidia driver brokes the keybord layout

2011-03-14 Thread Timo Aaltonen
the logfile shows that it's indeed using 'de' layout (and installing a
driver doesn't change that). You've probably changed something in the
KDE settings which made it use 'us'. Not a bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734784] Re: desktop crashes out if extra visual effects are applied

2011-03-14 Thread Felix Kuehling
If you're running Ubuntu in a virtual machine, this can't be a bug in
fglrx. In the virtual machine you can't access the Radeon graphics
device directly. So you can't use the fglrx driver. Having fglrx
installed without using it can cause problems. So if you have fglrx
installed, uninstall it. It's no use to you inside a virtual machine.

(There are special cases where you can make a dedicated graphics card
directly available to the virtual machine, but then you can't use the
same graphics card in the host OS, Windows 7 in your case. I don't think
this applies to you).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 650539] Re: SRU: Launching a Qt app crashes X when using Xinerama

2011-03-14 Thread Harry Flink
It's been almost three weeks since my post. Any chance this issue could
get fixed soon?

After all the patch exists already so there's not much to do but to
apply and release it. This is easily solved but very important to us
because Xorg seem to update every now and then and when updated everyone
has to patch the new version.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 599017] Re: [gm45] Xorg freeze on Firefox on one particular page

2011-03-14 Thread Etienne Goyer
We can reliably reproduce this bug here too. You can connect by shh,
but the graphical interface appears completely frozen (except for the
cursor). The Xorg process spins at 100%.

We tried using Chromium instead of Firefox, and could not reproduce the
problem. That seems to indicate that the problem is triggered by the
Flash plugin. I tried disabling Flash altogether, but the page UI would
not work without Flash at all (and would not work with Gnash either :(
).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574152] Re: 64bit Ubuntu 10.04 Stops Responding

2011-03-14 Thread David Parris
I also have been having system freezes since 10.04. Two types of symptoms ,
1. mouse hangs , does not seem to depend on any particular activity, only cure
is hard boot.
2. if sound is playing approx 2 seconds of sound is repeated continuously in
addition to mouse freeze. Only cure is hard boot.

This has happened on clean installs of 10.04, 10.1 and 11.4 , all
exactly same symptoms.

Only workaround I have found is to boot with acpi=off in GRUB , never
had a freeze using this option but with this option system will not
power off with the shutdown command so have to manually power off (not
good) .

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

After upgrading maverick (x86 32 bit system but with PAE kernel) system
does not boot, after some disk activity the upper half of the screen is
filled with garbage and no more disk activity. Booting an older kernel
(from maverick) works. Also it work with natty's kernel if I give
radeon.modeset=0 parameter at grub but then there is now hw accel.
(glxinfo reports software rendering, booting natty with maverick's
kernel seems to have it, glxinfo reports galium as the render string
then).

This is a Toshiba Satellite A300 notebook with 4G of RAM and video hw:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 735126] Re: [natty] system freezes on boot without disabling KMS

2011-03-14 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
Unfortunately, I can't send bug report related to the exact environment
where bug occurs since system does not boot then at all. So this bug
report was made when radeon.modeset=0 was used. Also, I couldn't find
any usable information in kernel or Xorg log files ...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 735188] [NEW] mesa 7.10.1-0ubuntu2 disables optimised assembler on IA32

2011-03-14 Thread Chris Halse Rogers
Public bug reported:

As subject. Fixing the IA32 dispatch code is taking a long time, and we
want to stop getting more duplicates of bug 259219, so the
7.10.1-0ubuntu2 upload disables IA32 assembler.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 734676] Re: package xserver-xorg-core 2:1.9.99.902-2ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: installing xserver-xorg-core would break existing software

2011-03-14 Thread Timo Aaltonen
DpkgTerminalLog.txt suggests that you have xserver-xorg-video-tseng
installed, but the upgrade didn't pull the newer version. There's only
one answer to why that happened, and it's that your apt mirror is out of
date.

You should take a look in #301958 bug. How come a wealthy canonical can't
help reproduce this driver.

Anyways thanks for the response

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 259219] Re: Broken TLS support in libGL.so AKA: software-center crashed with SIGSEGV in __cxa_allocate_exception()

2011-03-14 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package mesa - 7.10.1-0ubuntu2

---
mesa (7.10.1-0ubuntu2) natty; urgency=low

  * The “stop SIGSEGVing unrelated code” upload.
  * debian/patches/113_partially_fix_tls.diff:
- Fix TLS usage: initial-exec is not appropriate for a library that
can be dynamically loaded with dlopen. (LP: #259219)
- Partial patch: missing IA32 assembler dispatch code.
  * debian/rules:
- Build without optimised assembler on i386, as we haven't fixed that
  yet. Opens LP #735188.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661546] Re: Slow graphics on Mobile Intel 943GML

2011-03-14 Thread Grant Likely
I'm running into the same issue on Natty. This is on a MacBook 2,1 with
an external monitor. Intel 945GM chipset. It appears to be related to
the framebuffer size. The laptop panel works fine alone, as does an
external monitor at 1920x1080 alone.

However, if I enable both displays at full resolution, then I get the
Failed to set tiling on frontbuffer error message in Xorg.0.log, and
compositing is *very slow*. If I reduce the resolution on both
monitors, then I can get it working correctly again.

Here's an error log from the failed case:

[ 8845.595] (II) intel(0): EDID vendor APP, prod id 40030
[ 8845.595] (II) intel(0): Printing DDC gathered Modelines:
