I can also confirm this bug. Hopefully it's the same Happens on Lenovo T410 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 520 Some things that are not working: 1. Plugging in external monitor makes primary monitor (laptop) go black and external monitor is a bit shifted + flickers in color similar to background. 2. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 737891] Re: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA
I have the same issue as Dustin. x201 on Ultrabase docking station, connected to a Samsung 225BW monitor. If I connect the laptop to my smallish 17 1280x1024 Sony, I manage to hook it up in dual display mode. But if I try to disable the laptop screen it fails with a black screen /cursor. So I can't really use it in single-screen mode on the docking station. If I connect the laptop to my widescreen Samsung 22, it directly goes to the parasited flashing screen effect. So it looks like there are two separate bugs, one of them being specific to large screens / Samsungs. This is also very similar to what Anmar described at bug 732050. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/737891 Title: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Boot, system comes up in cloned screens mode. gnome-display-properties, disable cloned mode, set monitor screen resolution, apply. We are now in dual head mode, with the unity launcher on the laptop screen. The only way to get it on the main screen seems to be to disable laptop screen. disable laptop screen, apply. The confirmation countdown apparently runs somewhere else and will revert your change in 30 seconds... unless you press apply again and confirm it. I still have to experiment on how I can make that setup stick... or work with the laptop lid closed on the Ultrabase. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/737891 Title: [Arrandale] gnome-display-properties unable to correctly enable monitors connected to VGA ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 735126] Re: [natty] system freezes on boot without disabling KMS
Closing the userspace driver task, as this needs to be fixed on the kernel side. Regarding the milestone, I thought the kernel was now frozen for natty? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 764410] [NEW] Fails to parse xorg.conf, fails to auto enable 2nd monitor, fails to use primary monitor
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nvidia-settings The 2nd monitor is not enabled when installing 11.4. That means, that we have to install nvidia-settings and activate it. The problem appears to be occurring with increasing frequency over the past two or so weeks till now, where I am rebooting a few minutes into each login! This problem has been inherited through successive releases of Ubuntu (since 10.04, I think), along with another problem where Ubuntu crawls to a stop with no memory usage and heavy disk usage. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763331] Re: VA-API packages helper should be installed with the proprietary drivers
Maybe there possible other way to make install of acceleration video support easy? Just for example: Now Jockey show nVidia or AMD proprietary drivers in the list, when there is supported hardware and when drivers is available. So maybe when multiverse/universe repo is avilable AND there is supported hardware AND proprietary driver is already istalled, Jockey will suggest to install one of this packages (xvba-va-driver or vdpau-va-driver) as Additional package for video acceleration? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 764650] [NEW] Flash video with hardware acceleration causes X crash with radeon driver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg New install of Kubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwahl. Emachines e442, Xorg verson 1:7.6+4ubuntu3, ATI Technologies Inc M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200] with the generic open source radeon driver. Viewing Flash video in full screen on web browsers causes the Xserver to crash. The only solution is to go to the virtual console, kill firefox with the killall or kill -9 PID command, and restart the computer. Restarting KDM leads to a loss of network connections. Steps to recreate: 1. Open Firefox, Chrome, or Rekonq 2. Play flash video 3. Hit the full screen button The bug persists when trying to view videos with hardware acceleration enabled. Disabling hardware acceleration causes videos to start in full screen, but exit immediately. Enabling the fglrx driver from the Additional driver utility solves the problem, but brings on others, not related to the flash issue. Additional information on demand. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 651590] Re: ATI Radeon HD 5850 blank screen during boot
Hi, thanks for your interest. This issue is independent from ati or xserver, because it happens during the boot time, before loading modules. After a long research with kernel list I discovered that this bug comes from a conflict between video acpi and HP envy Bios model when setting brightness to the initial value. It's a kernel/hp main tree issue. Now, there is a patch available from the main kernel source, that is shipped with kernel 2.6.38. It adds a backlight option in the boot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 750259] Re: [arrandale] Dual screen not working/shows corruption
** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg Dual screen over VGA is no longer working for me under Natty. It used to work fine under maverick, but since the upgrade it just shows corruption/flickering screen. Whenever I'm using one screen it is working fine, and when I plug in my second screen my main (internal laptop) screen turns itself off and the external monitor keeps flickering at high frequency, showing random colours and sometimes little pieces of background. It doesn't matter whether the monitor is plugged in at boot or not. I have reasons to believe that the intel driver or xorg causes the problems because the GRUB and the login screen work both fine on both screens at the same time. As soon as I'm logged in this behaviour shows. It also doesn't matter if I'm using classic GNOME or the Unity interface. Xorg.0.log and dmesg are not showing any errors. If so please install mesa from ppa:xorg-edgers and let us know if that resolves it; potentially we may be able to backport a fix, but with so little time remaining in the release it may need to be SRU'd post-release. (mesa patches can be a bit risky though, so until we know what the patch is, I can't make any promises.) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744183 Title: [arrandale] GPU lockup (ESR: 0x0001 IPEHR: 0x09ebe000) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 747205] Re: [arrandale] Black screen on all outputs when external VGA is connected
I'm going to bump this back from libdrm to -intel; given the libdrm patch seems to not solve it, there's not a particular reason to think the bug is in libdrm. If nothing else, the bug report will be easier to find if it's with the other -intel reports. ** Package changed: libdrm (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libdrm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/747205 Title: [arrandale] Black screen on all outputs when external VGA is connected ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
