[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 496890] Re: [i945gm] Garbled screen when disabling internal display on macbook
I currently do not have linux installed on my macbook. I did however try with the natty live cd. The problem appears to have been partially solved, but let me elaborate: - Hardware is the same as with my original setup (Same Macbook, same external display) - Software is different: Previously I used KDE (Desktop effects explicitly enavbled), on the Live-CD I used Unity (Desktop effects ??? enabled - presumably yes) When using only the internal display, everything is fine. When plug in the external display while sitting at the desktop, the desktop is being expanded to cover both screens. However, the background image is garbled (mostly black, a few distorted traces of the original background image are still visible). Additionally, there appears to be a problem with screen refresh. When I hover over the sidebar (e.g. Firefox) the label will appear, but not disappear when I move the mouse away. Next, I used Monitors to disable the internal display and enable the external display only. It took quite some time to switch to that state (10-20 seconds), but after that the display was fine. I then switched back to the dual-head configuration and sure enough, the problems came back. It even went so far that when I unplugged the external display, two windows that were previously open became part of the background image. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496890 Title: [i945gm] Garbled screen when disabling internal display on macbook ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 742567] Re: multitouch events do not respect swap/invert axes properties
I have tried many combinations. Using only the input transformation matrix with swapping and inversion turned off when the coordinate transformation has the form 0 -1 1 x y 0 0 0 1 where x+y = 1 and x is bigger than about .2 the following unstable behavior exists: when a horizontal or vertical drag is performed the cursor jumps wildly - it appears to jump between what it should be according to the coordinate transformation and what it would be if x=0 and y=1 (that is if the second line of the matrix was the identity). With a diagonal drag or a touch the cursor appears where it should be. So for example with the correct rotation 0 -1 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 the cursor appears under your finger to the touch or a diagonal drag, but with a vertical or horizontal drag it jumps wildly alternating between where it should be (under your finger) and somewhere else, which appears to be the untransformed input. As if for some reason the evdev driver only applies the transformation at alternate points during a vertical or horizontal drag. It's pretty odd behavior. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 421048] Re: Black dots appear on screen
Thank you for the concerned response. I have a good idea of what it's like to be on your end because I am on other projects. I don't mean to be a whiner. I had a number of bugs related to an Nvidia card and multiple displays stemming back to Hardy. Most of the reports I filed or was involved with were eventually closed with out really being resolved as Ubuntu versions progressed. I guess in this case the main issue was probably a faulty Nvidia card/driver pair. The issues went away when I abandoned a particular machine with on board Nvidia. I should probably be yelling at Nivida for not owning up to and fixing the problems. I have an expensive laptop now paperweight due to these problems. I guess it's a bit of a sore spot for me. Keep up the great work. Ubuntu is getting better and more reliable all the time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/421048 Title: Black dots appear on screen ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 765090] Re: Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta)
Yes, three finger dragging works under unity but not on classic ubuntu desktop (gnome). Tap and hold however works for both but it's hard to initiate likely due to the low sensitivity. Probably the tap and hold delay time is set somewhere to a small value. It should be more than 100 millisecond in my opinion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765090 Title: Dragging of windows does not work with trackpad (natty beta) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
What I don't really understand in the whole threading vs. signals discussion is why the kernel cannot buffer in a queue of some sort those signals before processing them. They wouldn't be lost anymore and the kernel could process them at its own pace. 2011/4/29 Marius Kotsbak 124...@bugs.launchpad.net: Regarding the bug severity, I can only agree on that given that we have the workaround of disabling keyboard repeat in the X server settings. Without that, depending on the frequency it happens, it can make the PC almost unusable or at least too unpredictable to trust, i.e. you always risk, like when I am writing in this text field to loose all when I am correcting one typo if I don't react in time, close all tabs in the browser when typing ctrl-w (since this shortcut starts CPU load, the bug occurence actually increase at exactly that time, as with tab completion in terminal). -- You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat To unsubscribe from this bug, go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/emacs/+bug/124406/+subscribe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
