[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
It seems to decrease the corruption initally, but doesn't fix the issue. My system was workable for about five minutes or so before corruption became a major issue (but I think it depends more on patterns of usage, though -- if I open more apps, corruption shows up more quickly). Also, running just glxgears, it takes a while (and some dragging of glxgears around the screen) to start in with the corruption. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 Title: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791479] [NEW] Xorg freezes when playing games with OpenGL and switching resolutions in those games
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel This is reproducible in KDE and Unity. To reproduce the bug just launch a game like Extreme Tux Racer and keep switching the resolutions in the video options until the game crashes the entire X-server and the computer needs a hard reboot. This also happens in games like Neverball or Block Attack Rise of the Blocks. I expected it to change resolutions without crashing and I am using 11.04 Natty Narwhal. I am also using stock xorg and have tried xorg edgers and ppa-purged it because it made the problem worse. Also sometimes in extreme tux racer the game hangs the Xorg server just by loading the game. Attached I have dmesg unity logs which may help after creating them from getting help on Ubuntu forums. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590504] Re: [arrandale] Integrated intel graphics GMA HD doesn't work
I'm happy to present working solution for integrated Intel HD Graphics (GMA HD) running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS: 1. Install new versions of libdrm*, lib*mesa* and xserver-xorg-video-intel packages from ppa:ubuntu-fi or ppa:baltix (see https://launchpad.net/~baltix/+archive ) repository 2. Install new Linux kernel 2.6.38 image (linux-image-generic-lts-backport-natty) from ppa:baltix-members (see https://launchpad.net/~baltix-members/+archive ) or ppa:kernel-ppa 3. restart Ubuntu 10.04 operating system :) I've updated xserver-xorg-video-intel and libdrm* packages from these repositories and can confirm that this solution fixed *all* video driver problems on my Dell Latitude E5520 notebook with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU and integrated Intel HD Graphics second generation (VGA controller: Intel Corporation Device 0116 (rev 09) )! I'm using new libdrm*, lib*mesa* and xserver-xorg-video-intel packages from ppa:ubuntu-fi (or ppa:baltix) repository for 2 days and haven't noticed any problems :) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/590504 Title: [arrandale] Integrated intel graphics GMA HD doesn't work ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
I updated today my nvidia-current driver to version 270.41.19, but I still have the same problem. The driver is activated but not in use. I also see that there are some problems with my mouse pointer (in windows it works OK). Some time the mouse pointer doesn't recognise some links in webpages (using firefox) and some times it seems that click doesn't work (this happens always with tomboy indicator). I don't know if these problems are related but they started happening since the last upgrade (natty). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200
Apologies I have been too busy at work to test again until now setting vblank_mode=0 with kms enabled seems to just delay the typical screen corruption that I can usually trigger in about 1min of draggng the glxgears window around the screen. with vblank_mode=0 it now takes ~5-10min before I can recreate the screen corruption. Incidentally I just tested with a Mobile X1300 and it does not have the issue... so it seems specific to the X1200 RS690 !! I did not realise that Ubuntu had shifted to the Gallium Driver... it explains why it suddenly broke in 11.04 ... Thx Andre :-) Gives me more things test. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is a direct subscriber. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 Title: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 551089] Re: [VX800]amd64 system lockup on VT switch/suspend
** Description changed: - Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome + [Impact] + System lockup on vt switch or resume from suspend - The openchrome driver locks up the system when switching VT on Via VX800 - based systems (including the Samsung NC20 I'm using). This was upstream - bug 321 (http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/321) and was fixed in - upstream SVN revision 838, which unfortunately Ubuntu hasn't yet - packaged. Any chance of the package being updated in Lucid, or even just - that one commit being included? This bug means anyone affected cannot - switch back to X after switching to another VT without the system - locking up completely, and this in turn breaks suspend, or rather - resume, as well. + [Development Fix] + Fixed in upstream revision r838. Maverick includes up through r916 and natty through r920. + + [Stable Fix] + Backport of r838 (omitting the change to Changelog) has been verified to build and uploaded to lucid-proposed. + + [Test Case] + On affected hardware do a vt switch or suspend/resume cycle. Bug should repro 100%. + + [Regression Potential] + Moderate. There may be some hardware for which a full memcpy worked and copied registers that aren't copied by this patch, however the severity of such issues will be less than this bug. Looking through the changelog subsequent to this fix, there is only one bug I see that this patch could expose - graphical corruption to the cursor following a suspend for VX855 and VX900; possibly these two chips aren't functioning post-resume anyway due to this bug (I can't tell without access to the given hw), so maybe that cosmetic issue is worth the risk. + + [Original Report] + The openchrome driver locks up the system when switching VT on Via VX800 based systems (including the Samsung NC20 I'm using). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 393129] Re: Corrupt screen, HP Brio, Matrox G100 (display: NEC LCD1860NX and others)
I'd concur that a new bug report would be the most sensible next step with this bug. However, like Tormod says, these older drivers like -mga are not at the top of the list as far as distro maintenance work goes. So bug reports probably ought to go directly upstream rather than here at the distro level. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-mga (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Triaged ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-mga (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-mga (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-mga in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393129 Title: Corrupt screen, HP Brio, Matrox G100 (display: NEC LCD1860NX and others) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791596] Re: Odd Pointer Behavior After Recent Xserver SRU in Natty
dart, I tried playing back the recording, but it did not appear to have any issues. Can you upgrade back to the latest xorg-server-core package and follow the steps at the end of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/Testing/uTouchEvEmu#Debugging to play back the recording on your computer? If you see the issue with your recording, then there's some difference between our two machines. If you don't see the issue with your recording, then that may mean you are sometimes getting the right data from the device, and sometimes you aren't (batteries dying if it's a wireless mouse?).
