[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200

2011-06-01 Thread Brian Visel
It seems to decrease the corruption initally, but doesn't fix the issue.
My system was workable for about five minutes or so before corruption
became a major issue (but I think it depends more on patterns of usage,
though -- if I open more apps, corruption shows up more quickly). Also,
running just glxgears, it takes a while (and some dragging of glxgears
around the screen) to start in with the corruption.

No, I am still on Ubuntu 10.10
OK, I have moved to 11.04. Amarok seems working fine now and all windows
are dockable, however I am using ATI's binary driver 11.5 released on
2011-05-09. I do not know how it would behave with drivers provided by
ubuntu.
In my opinion this bug can be closed. Thanks.

Yes, it's always happening, regardless of the application - as long as
something is scrolled in the left. Restarting Firefox does not help.

2011-06-01 Thread time-trader
Ever after 270.XX version have to roll back to 260 version to get nvidia
drivers working with compiz.
As described before, it gives still immage on log in, and the sollution is to
kill compiz to unfreeze it. Xorg.0.log doesn't seem to have any errors...
Also have GeForce 7300 GS. The problem seems to affect especially these cards.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 787811] Re: [natty] Intel graphics X server freezes with [drm:drm_mode_getfb] *ERROR* invalid framebuffer id

2011-06-01 Thread Pelo
I should had, I'm using Gnome and not Kde, in natty, upgraded not clean
install, Desktop cpu/gpu is intel core i5 650.
This has been occuring since I upgraded couple of days after release. several
times a day in some cases. it doesn'T happen every time the monitor goes to
sleep. turned off the screen saver, turned off the energy saver, tried screen
saver alone, this is definaltely a problem with the energy saver part.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791479] [NEW] Xorg freezes when playing games with OpenGL and switching resolutions in those games

2011-06-01 Thread Topazcat
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

This is reproducible in KDE and Unity. To reproduce the bug just launch
a game like Extreme Tux Racer and keep switching the resolutions in the
video options until the game crashes the entire X-server and the
computer needs a hard reboot. This also happens in games like Neverball
or Block Attack Rise of the Blocks. I expected it to change resolutions
without crashing and I am using 11.04 Natty Narwhal. I am also using
stock xorg and have tried xorg edgers and ppa-purged it because it made
the problem worse. Also sometimes in extreme tux racer the game hangs
the Xorg server just by loading the game. Attached I have dmesg unity
logs which may help after creating them from getting help on Ubuntu
forums.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 590504] Re: [arrandale] Integrated intel graphics GMA HD doesn't work

2011-06-01 Thread Mantas Kriaučiūnas
I'm happy to present working solution for integrated Intel HD Graphics
(GMA HD) running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS:

1. Install new versions of libdrm*, lib*mesa* and xserver-xorg-video-intel
packages from ppa:ubuntu-fi or ppa:baltix (see
https://launchpad.net/~baltix/+archive ) repository
2. Install new Linux kernel 2.6.38 image
(linux-image-generic-lts-backport-natty) from ppa:baltix-members (see
https://launchpad.net/~baltix-members/+archive ) or ppa:kernel-ppa
3. restart Ubuntu 10.04 operating system :)

I've updated xserver-xorg-video-intel and libdrm* packages from these
repositories and can confirm that this solution fixed *all* video driver
problems on my Dell Latitude E5520 notebook with Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2410M CPU
and integrated Intel HD Graphics second generation (VGA controller: Intel
Corporation Device 0116 (rev 09) )!
I'm using new libdrm*, lib*mesa* and xserver-xorg-video-intel packages from
ppa:ubuntu-fi (or ppa:baltix) repository for 2 days and haven't noticed any
problems :)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk

2011-06-01 Thread Antonio
I updated today my nvidia-current driver to version 270.41.19, but I
still have the same problem. The driver is activated but not in use.

I also see that there are some problems with my mouse pointer (in
windows it works OK). Some time the mouse pointer doesn't recognise some
links in webpages (using firefox) and some times it seems that click
doesn't work (this happens always with tomboy indicator). I don't know
if these problems are related but they started happening since the last
upgrade (natty).

Regards.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791561] [NEW] shpchp cannot reserve mmio region

2011-06-01 Thread Xwarman
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 577842 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577842

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

This may be a dublicace of bug 577842 but apport-collect advice me that it is
easier to make a new bug report and mark it as possible dublicace. thats what i
am doing here. I also have the problems with graphic and the start hints,
discribed in the other bugreport. (shpchp cannot reserve mmio region) etc.
please check it and mark it as dublicace if neccerry. I dont had those problems
in 10.04 and also not in 10.10, as I had upgraded. But in 10.10 was problems
when during fresh install.

According to upstream bug report and confirmation by comments on this
bug report, the issue has been fixed in recent Ubuntu releases.

If you can identify the exact revision number that provides the fix, it
can be considered for backporting to 10.04 under SRU policies. Provide
the revision number for the patch and reopen the bug in this case.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 764379] Re: Partial screen corruption and poor performance on GeForce 6150

2011-06-01 Thread 8200
I can confirm this bug with my fresh install of ubuntu 11.04 amd64 with
all latest updates.

Is there a solution how I can use unity with the Geforce 6150?

I have installed and activated the nvidia driver 270.41.06 by jockey-
gtk.

Whenever I start Ubuntu / Ubuntu Classic and force unity with
/etc/environment everything of the screen is white excepting the panels.
So it is unusable.

Regards,
Arthur

Dewey, can you please test this kernel http://alioth.debian.org/~tormod-
guest/linux-image-2.6.39-3-generic_2.6.39-3.10tormod_i386.deb together
with standard packages of all the rest? The kernel should work in
anything from Lucid to Oneiric.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 556782] Re: [rs690m] Graphics corruption with ati x1200

2011-06-01 Thread axel
Apologies I have been too busy at work to test again until now
setting vblank_mode=0 with kms enabled seems to just delay the typical screen
corruption that I can usually trigger in about 1min of draggng the glxgears
window around the screen.

with vblank_mode=0 it now takes ~5-10min before I can recreate the
screen corruption.

Incidentally I just tested with a Mobile X1300 and it does not have the
issue... so it seems specific to the X1200 RS690 !!

I did not realise that Ubuntu had shifted to the Gallium Driver... it
explains why it suddenly broke in 11.04 ... Thx Andre :-)

Gives me more things test.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 551089] Re: [VX800]amd64 system lockup on VT switch/suspend

2011-06-01 Thread Bryce Harrington
** Description changed:

- Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-openchrome
+ [Impact]
+ System lockup on vt switch or resume from suspend

- The openchrome driver locks up the system when switching VT on Via VX800
- based systems (including the Samsung NC20 I'm using). This was upstream
- bug 321 (http://www.openchrome.org/trac/ticket/321) and was fixed in
- upstream SVN revision 838, which unfortunately Ubuntu hasn't yet
- packaged. Any chance of the package being updated in Lucid, or even just
- that one commit being included? This bug means anyone affected cannot
- switch back to X after switching to another VT without the system
- locking up completely, and this in turn breaks suspend, or rather
- resume, as well.
+ [Development Fix]
+ Fixed in upstream revision r838. Maverick includes up through r916 and natty
through r920.
+
+ [Stable Fix]
+ Backport of r838 (omitting the change to Changelog) has been verified to
build and uploaded to lucid-proposed.
+
+ [Test Case]
+ On affected hardware do a vt switch or suspend/resume cycle. Bug should
repro 100%.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Moderate. There may be some hardware for which a full memcpy worked and
copied registers that aren't copied by this patch, however the severity of such
issues will be less than this bug. Looking through the changelog subsequent to
this fix, there is only one bug I see that this patch could expose - graphical
corruption to the cursor following a suspend for VX855 and VX900; possibly
these two chips aren't functioning post-resume anyway due to this bug (I can't
tell without access to the given hw), so maybe that cosmetic issue is worth the
risk.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 22976] Re: Live CD boots to a black screen on Blueberry G3 iMac

2011-06-01 Thread Bryce Harrington
This bug report seems to have devolved into an amalgam of different
issues, and the upstreamed bug report is closed as invalid due to being
not a driver problem but rather xorg.conf problems.

Re-test against natty and file new bug reports for each separate
problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 393129] Re: Corrupt screen, HP Brio, Matrox G100 (display: NEC LCD1860NX and others)

2011-06-01 Thread Bryce Harrington
I'd concur that a new bug report would be the most sensible next step
with this bug.

However, like Tormod says, these older drivers like -mga are not at the
top of the list as far as distro maintenance work goes. So bug reports
probably ought to go directly upstream rather than here at the distro
level.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791596] Re: Odd Pointer Behavior After Recent Xserver SRU in Natty

2011-06-01 Thread Chase Douglas
dart,

I tried playing back the recording, but it did not appear to have any
issues. Can you upgrade back to the latest xorg-server-core package and
follow the steps at the end of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch/Testing/uTouchEvEmu#Debugging to play
back the recording on your computer?

If you see the issue with your recording, then there's some difference
between our two machines. If you don't see the issue with your
recording, then that may mean you are sometimes getting the right data
from the device, and sometimes you aren't (batteries dying if it's a
wireless mouse?).

Thanks!

You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace

I have installed Kubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat (beta) Updated to date
(RC packages I think, and KDE SC 4.5.1).

My motherboard is ASUS M2A-VM HDMI with integrated video card ATI Radeon x1250.
Using free drivers xserver-xorg-video-radeon 1:6.13.1-1ubuntu5, libgl1-mesa-dri

Have acceleration:
$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

But the desktop effects are disabled and from SystemSettings in Desktop
Effects all options are disabled and I can not change any option of
them.
