[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 791596] Re: Odd Pointer Behavior After Recent Xserver SRU in Natty
I'm now a bit confused as to what the actual problem you're seeing is. Is it: *) Erratic mouse behaviour: +) pointer moving when not moving the mouse? +) pointer moving in an incorrect direction when moving the mouse? +) pointer not moving at a constant rate when moving the mouse at a constant speed? +) Something else? *) Altered mouse sensitivity: +) Higher sensitivity - pointer moves in the direction expected, but moves further than expected +) Altered acceleration behaviour - pointer takes longer/shorter to get to “full speed” when moving the mouse? Are there any other changes when switching between the xserver-xorg-core versions? Do you have two monitors connected? In any case, as far as I can tell the codepath the patch changes will only be hit by a driver sending an absolute pointer event, which as far as I can tell none of your devices (and certainly not your mouse) will do. So I remain a bit perplexed! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/791596 Title: Odd Pointer Behavior After Recent Xserver SRU in Natty ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 778933] Re: suspend problem
apport information ** Description changed: Sorry for my English ... I have problem with suspend. While it appears to turn off properly when I press the button to restart the computer it starts as if I had to disable shut down, not suspend. In ubuntu 10.10 functioned normally without problem. From what I've been looking at forums I've found that the same problem and have other sony vaio laptops. Someone mentioned that upgrading the bios corrected the problem. I'll check it. It is strange, however, because the 10.10 operating normally ... Also another problem is that I do not recognize the card reader in no linux version I've tried ... But this is not a big problem for me because they do not use it ... But it is still a problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up (goes black) when laptop is docked with two external 1920x1200 monitors (x86_64)
tjaalton and bryceh suggested bisecting using the packages built from mainline rather than building from scratch. Using http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/ v2.6.39-rc1-natty when the external monitor is plugged in will _only_ use the external monitor; the monitors control panel apparently cannot even detect the internal monitor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 778490] Re: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04
Fernando, good work! That shows a nearly perfect backtrace, but we're missing symbols for the first two calls (which is probably where the crash is): #0 0x0057ffb4 in pixman_region_equal () from /usr/lib/libpixman-1.so.0 No symbol table info available. #1 0x0018e798 in ?? () from /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/openchrome_drv.so No symbol table info available. Can you install the dbgsym packages for pixman and the openchrome driver and do it once more? Also, I should also mention your backtrace is completely different than what's shown in other people's Xorg.0.log.old so is probably some other unrelated X crash. (Like I mention, every type of X crash results in the same thing - dropping you back to the login screen). Your syslog also shows that the kernel is very sick (but not in the graphics drm stack). Hard to tell if those errors relate to the crash you're seeing, but if I had to guess, it looks like something deeper is wrong in your system and X crashing is just a side effect. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778490 Title: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771915] Re: Problem with Dual Monitors and Ubuntu 11.04
Hello, I have the same problem on my X61 Tablet when using an external monitor (Dell 2009W 1680x1050@60Hz) together with my laptop screen (1024x768@60Hz). I do not have an nvidia card, but instead: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller (primary) (rev 0c) I am reporting this here in case this turns out to be a more general problem. I am setting them up in an extend configuration, so the large screen extends the desktop to the right. This problem appeared a few weeks after the upgrade to 11.04 which is strange. It worked fine in the beginning (even though the icons where cropped on the top of the laptop screen (smaller height compared to the large screen). In my case it affects both Ubuntu and Ubuntu Classic Sessions (with or without effects). In ubuntu classic, I just get the desktop, initialy empty. I can pull a terminal up (ctrl-alt-T) and type gnome-panel to get the panel and work. Then the desktop icons also appear. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'
Hi Lucky, The Dell Optiplex I was experiencing this on is only has built-in Intel GMA950 graphics so if it definitely is a graphics driver issue then it might not be something limited exclusively to Nvidia drivers. Gabriel Alonso (Post #6) mentiones having this issue with a Dell E6400. These laptops have built-in Intel graphics but can also come fitted with an Nvidia Quadro so it'd be very interesting to see what card is fitted to his laptop and whether upgrading to the 173 driver like you did will also fix his issues? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 765136] Re: [natty] X often crashes since upgrade to natty
I haven't done a bisect yet, but I did manually install the Linux 3.0-rc1 kernel from Oneiric and haven't seen this crash for several days. The downside is that it looks like Natty's nvidia drivers won't build on top of the new kernel, so I have to use Nouveau. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/765136 Title: [natty] X often crashes since upgrade to natty ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 524281] Re: Tens of wakes per second in [kernel scheduler] Load balancing tick on Core 2 Duo even with only 1 core enabled
Yuppie, now it seems again that I have found the good combination: - Nothing fixes the cpu frequency flickering. The laptop just shits on the cpufreq settings and decides on its own, what is the best frequency for me. Come on... Sucks. - This Load balancing tick bullshit stopped when I downgraded my bios back to the original version what the laptop had when it was shipped. I upgraded recently to the newest version and it was my last idea like the root cause of these problems. Laptop: Dell Latitude E4300, the BIOS version A06 again. - But I got back an old bug with v2.6.39-rc4-natty kernel. Namely the backlit of the LCD did not come back after resume. Nice. I switched back to the original natty kernel and this problem seems to be solved also. So the workaround recipe for Dell Latitude E4300 owners with this bug: 1. Downgrade the BIOS to an earlier version. A06 or A07 is a good candidate. (I googled a manual to make a pendrive with bootable DOS and I downloaded the A06 BIOS upgrade file from the Dell site to the pendrive.) 2. If this bug still happens - upgrade to Natty. Other notes: (3a. In any way, disable the bluetooth in the BIOS. It just makes problems with suspend/resume and for me, an attempt to send file via bluetooth from my phone made the laptop frozen with a kernel oops.) (3b. I do not think so that it makes anything better, but I have installed the latest Intel graphics drivers from the mentioned PPA in my previous comments.) In maverick (10.10) the xserver version was 1.9 which worked very well with nvidia cards. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/728745 Title: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
