[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Re: MASTER: support graphics card hot switch

2011-06-19 Thread Eric Appleman
Looks like AMD has a questionable Optimus alternative in the works.

It's called BACON and is muxless.

Plus, no OpenGL on the dedicated card.

Yes, I can confirm that in 3.8.16 (from natty-proposed) the issue is
gone. Thanks for pointing this out.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 367399] Re: Dragging with touchpad on MacBook does not work

2011-06-19 Thread thetravellor
Has any effort been made to resolve this?

I have just installed 10.04.02 on a Macbook Pro 15 5,1.

It is most frustrating to have to use an external mouse to do such a
simple thing as pick up a window by its title bar and move it.

When will this be resolved, its been like this for 2 years it seems.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 755841] Re: [sandybridge] video tearing

2011-06-19 Thread Chris Thompson
I also have the problem of video tearing since upgrading to 11.04. The
hardware is H55M-S2H M/B, i5-650 CPU, integrated graphics using i915
video driver.

The problem is evident when using (s)mplayer and mythtv, but not with
totem and vlc.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799496] [NEW] failed to run the graphic acceleration on intel corporation mobile 4, i915

2011-06-19 Thread ssuuddoo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

the acceleration does not work. the system is on a removable hdd usb drive. on
nvidia computers, the acceleration works well. on intel-based graphic systems,
I am failing to run the acceleration. I tried to put ...AccelMethod uxa
into the xorg.conf file, but without any change. Also removing the xorg.conf
file does not help running the acceleration. The system works well and is
operational and full functional except all programs requiring the graphic
acceleration.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799537] [NEW] Mouse dissapearing

2011-06-19 Thread Michael Harden
Public bug reported:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 728745] Re: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop

2011-06-19 Thread Mike Goldberg
I found a fix, at least for my system, in the Debian User Forums:

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=7t=65539 Lost 3D after
updating nvidia-glx, linux and X.

Someone advised installing/updating the following packages:

libegl1-mesa_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
libglu1-mesa_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
libegl1-mesa-drivers_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
xserver-xephyr_1.10.2-1_i386.deb
libgl1-mesa-dri_7.10.2-3_i386.deb
xserver-xorg-core_1.10.2-1_i386.deb
libgl1-mesa-glx_7.10.2-3_i386.deb

I (re)installed the Ubuntu amd64 equivalents:

libegl1-mesa
libglu1-mesa
libegl1-mesa-driver
xserver-xephyr
libgl1-mesa-dri
xserver-xorg-core
libgl1-mesa-glx

Two of these packages, libegl1-mesa and libegl1-mesa-driver, WERE NOT
installed on my system after the upgrade to natty. I don't know why they
weren't installed during the upgrade, or if they were there before the
upgrade. They seem to be needed.

After banging in these packages, the Unity Desktop Environment works as
well as can be expected. (Snarky comments removed.) Of course, I am
running the nVidia 275.09.07 drivers instead of the ones in the Ubuntu
repository...

A great Father's Day present for me! Happy Father's Day to all the dads
out there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 728745] Re: [nvidia, 7300, 7400] display freeze when using unity desktop

2011-06-19 Thread Andrew
For comments 108 and 109 --

I tried this work-around with my GeForce 7300 GS and the nvidia-
current driver (270.41.06-0ubuntu1) and it does not work.

Is there a decent way of upgrading to the 275* drivers without having a
pain in the rear method of going back to the ubuntu repository driver
once they are updated?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799586] [NEW] window maximisation fails in multiple ways in extended desktop

2011-06-19 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

using an extended desktop with one, larger display above the other, maximising
a window (alt-f10) in the lower display sends it to the max state in the upper
window.
Now, dragging the maximised window to the lower display results in various
broken behaviour: the window shrinks to a strange small size, or sometimes
expands to the size of the other display. But never does it dock to the lower
display at the right size to be maximised there. And that is what it should
do, to work like gnome and in the expected (or just not erratic) manner.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Kernel BUG during recovery boot and in normal boot (Hybrid graphics)

2011-06-19 Thread Marco Trevisan
According to https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=30052#c17 this
seems to be fixed in recent kernel releases. I think that the patches
fixing it should be backported!

 I can't reproduce this bug on 2.6.39-git19 and 3.0-rc3.
 Seems bug fixed.
 Thanks!
