My bad, it was supposed to point to an empty file. I'll fix it.

Thanks for reporting

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 786952] Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen - Pressure too sensitive

2011-06-27 Thread Devius
@Favux Sorry, but not everything you said is correct. I tried the Irie
Shinsuke PPA, but that didn't help one bit. I'll have a look at it's
source code but I suspect it has the same problem as the official Natty
package. The only thing that helped was compiling from the source from
the linuxwacom project homepage. Now it's working perfectly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577340] Re: [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI, with or without KMS

2011-06-27 Thread Adam Cooper
I've been struggling to get my Dell Inspiron 5100 to resume from suspend
all weekend. This laptop has a Radeon 7500M graphics card (RV200)

I'm intending to run 10.04 but tried 11.04 as well and have been unable
to figure it out.

radeon.modeset=0 stopped me from getting fancy boot graphics and stopped
compiz from working but it still would not resume. I will try the DRI
off option in xorg.conf later today and report back here. It's taken me
a long time to find this bug report - google failed me.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 802558] [NEW] [xorg-edgers] huge performance regression after upgrade

2011-06-27 Thread clemmy
Public bug reported:

I'm on natty 64bit and I enable xorg-edgers ppa and kernel-ppa
(currently using 2.6.39-3-generic)

I've got a vaio laptop with hybrid intel + ati graphics. I use the intel
one, and keep the ati powered off with vgaswitcheroo.

Everything was very good till yesterday. After today's upgrade of
xserver-xorg-video-intel, I found a huge performance regression, making
my system completely unusable.

performance got back to usual after downgrading to previous version that
was on the ppa till yestarday.

last stable version for me was:
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2%3a2.15.0+git20110624.471115a9-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty_amd64.deb

unusable version is:
xserver-xorg-video-intel_2%3a2.15.0+git20110627.44cd6ebf-0ubuntu0sarvatt~natty_amd64.deb

just tell me more information is needed, i'm not an programmer, but i'd
like to spend some time on testing and reporting if it could be useful

Unfortunately, for me it happens often (even 2-3 times a day)
Most:
After connecting the battery (laptop)
When you connect the mouse

Sometimes, just by itself, regardless of how many and what programs I
have running

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569838] Re: huge memory leak using radeon os driver when KMS is disabled

2011-06-27 Thread Timo Aaltonen
It's not really eating your memory, just reflects the pixmap memory
cached by the server, so not really a bug. And KMS is the preferred way
to run ATI graphics anyway.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 802589] [NEW] KEY_CYCLEWINDOWS invalidly mapped to XF86RotateWindows

2011-06-27 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

On a ThinkPad X201s you have some extra keys on the tablet: one which
looks like a round circle, which triggers an evdev event
KEY_CYCLEWINDOWS. There is no unanimous interpretation of the meaning of
the icon, but cycling windows (aka Alt+Tab) seemed the most useful to
have there. Another key has a portrait and landscape screen symbol with
arrows in between, i. e. change between portrait and landscape screen
rotation; it is currently triggering a KEY_DIRECTION evdev event.

Pressing the latter does nothing, pressing the former key causes screen
rotation. It should be the other way around.

/usr/share/X11/xkb/symbols/inet maps I162 (which is KEY_CYCLEWINDOWS)
to XF86RotateWindows.

The problem here is that there is unclear terminology on all three
levels of the stack here:

 * Rotating windows is a misnomer and doesn't make sense; what we
really want is either cycling windows or rotating screens. I think xkb-
data shouldn't map cycling windows to rotating windows, so I file this
against xkb-data.

 * KEY_DIRECTION is a bit underspecified, too. It could be used for
screen rotation just as well as for changing the direction your turtle
is walking in your Logo interpreter.

 * gnome-settings-daemon causes screen rotation on XF86RotateWindows.
But as there is no XF86RotateScreen, that's the closest xkbsym to use.

I think it would be best to fix it in the xkb-data layer and map I161
(KEY_DIRECTION) to XF86RotateScreen and don't define I162
(KEY_CYCLEWINDOWS).

also happens with WebGL, which is also h/w accelerated.

Exact same problem, WebGL works fine, mplayer too until it goes
fullscreen. Kaboom.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 777606] Re: Panel turns black when maximizing terminal

2011-06-27 Thread Forest
I see the problem when using nvidia-current 270.41.06-0ubuntu1.

In addition to black / not-repainted areas on screen when I resize
xfce4-terminal, they sometimes appear when I switch between workspaces
(aka virtual desktops). The problem is hidden if I enable compositing
in the window manager, which makes sense for a problem related to
repainting.

I think it's safe to say at this point that we're all using the
proprietary nvidia drive 270.41, so I'm going to remove the incomplete
status on this bug.

Everything was very good till yesterday. After today's upgrade of

performance got back to usual after downgrading to previous version that

last stable version for me was:

just tell me more information is needed, i'm not an programmer, but i'd
like to spend some time on testing and reporting if it could be useful

You need to report test results for the upstream packages to upstream.

We do the packaging of the upstream trees to help people needing to test
for fixes against what we're carrying in Ubuntu, but we don't really do
development ourselves on the upstream code itself.

Probably you want to join the xorg-devel@ list and report there.

Thanks,
Bryce

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 297245] Re: [i965] Dell Studio 15 White Screen on X startup

2011-06-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
I notice there is still a task open on this bug for the backport to
Hardy. Looks like it just needs someone to test hardy-proposed to
verify the fix.

Does anyone still care about getting this fixed on Hardy? If so please
provide feedback. Otherwise, I think this bug task can probably just be
closed out.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 778758] Re: The apport hook discourages new bug reports

2011-06-27 Thread Bryce Harrington
Any reason not to roll this out? It's an obviously safe fix to non-
infrastructure code (just the apport hook; has no effect on X.org
itself).

Jorge had requested this change originally; I'd asked him to do the
verification testing and provide feedback, but guess it slipped his
mind.
