[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 185600] Re: libreoffice repeatedly freezes after resuming laptop from sleep
Can confirm this bug on Ubuntu 11.04 NVidia driver 270.41.19 Compiz 1:0.9.4+bzr20110606-0ubuntu1~natty2 Libreoffice: 1:3.3.2-1ubuntu5 I did not have this behavior prior to upgrading from 10.10 to 11.04. I am not sure when exactly it started to occur. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 534677] Re: [lucid] Broken backlight control with Radeon open-source drivers
This is still true with the Radeon driver in Natty. There's no BACKLIGHT property exposed on the LVDS interface. Gnome Power Manager itself now works around it, with gnome-backlight-helper. KDE also now somehow works around it, as well. So, the user-facing portion is fixed, but the original problem (missing BACKLIGHT property) still exists. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/534677 Title: [lucid] Broken backlight control with Radeon open-source drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-power-manager/+bug/534677/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 293485] Re: no working driver, problem with hal
@Timo: The bug was filed against a Ubuntu package, which is actually still alive and well, under active development: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-penmount/1:1.4.99+git20101202.6658e9ad-0ubuntu2 While Penmount does supply separate linux drivers, this bug had nothing to do with those and everything to do with the Ubuntu package. So what's with the invalid status, it should be left at fix committed if that solved the issue, but the bug was very much VALID when opened. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-penmount in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/293485 Title: no working driver, problem with hal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-penmount/+bug/293485/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 803541] [NEW] Xorg freezes sometimes after display went to sleep
Public bug reported: After upgrading from Maverick to Natty (clean install, not a dist- upgrade) I've noticed that every few days my laptop's X screen stops updating. This happens when system is left idle for certain period of time, like 20 minutes. So I turned off the screensaver, but this didn't help. I have a power management setting to put display to sleep after 15 minutes, which I am now turning off (setting to 'Never') to see if that helps. When the bug occurs: I would get back to my laptop and find it's screen blank (which is expected after a while being idle,) hit a key to wake it up and get back to where I've left. However, the screen is not updating anymore: e.g. gnome-terminal cursor doesn't blink, cpu load graph applet doesn't tick, etc. If I move the mouse, it will update the cursor position and shape (e.g. turn to beam cursor when over text input area, and back to arrow then leaving the area.) If I try to click at any point or type something on the keyboard, nothing seems to happen. A gdm restart helps to regain X w/o rebooting the system. I've looked up X, kernel and gdm logs but didn't seem to find any clues. This doesn't happen every time I wake the laptop--not even every day, but sometimes it happens 2 or 3 times a day. The laptop is running on AC power most of the time, and every time the problem occurred it was plugged into wall charger. I've been running Ubuntu since version 8.10 on this same machine and never experienced this bug before Natty. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 803542] Re: xorg session hang
OK, back on the laptop again after a hard reboot. During the session hang, there was no response from keyboard or mouse clicks, although the mouse cursor was moving, and X applications were responding. For example I managed to trigger a save operation in the Gedit window I had open by using Ctrl+Alt+F1 to get a new terminal, then running the following to trigger a keystroke to be sent to the window... DISPLAY=:0 xdotool key --window `DISPLAY=:0 xdotool search --onlyvisible --name gedit` ctrl+s; I'm deliberately using a kernel from LP-PPA-kernel-ppa/natty to test for upcoming problems for Xorg with proposed kernels, so this may be worth noting. I'll use whatever kernel PPA you think is most useful for this testing from now on, if that's not the right way to go. After the reboot, I noted there's a new release of Xorg appeared in the last day or so in natty-updates, so I'm upgrading to that and we'll see how we go. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/803542 Title: xorg session hang To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/803542/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 803610] [NEW] synaptics touchpad upgrade freezes X directly after login
Public bug reported: after upgrading xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in natty the following happens: 1. login (via gdm), touchpad is working here on login screen 2. after 2-3 sec. no touchpad mouse movements possible (freeze) 3. gnome loads background image, but no panels etc. 4. restarting gdm from console makes the touchpad work again on login screen (gdm), GOTO 1. Uninstalling xserver-xorg-input-synaptics helps to resolve this particular problem (login/gnome OK), although then most features do not work any more (e.g. two-finger, middle click simulation by pressing both mouse buttons). I think the Xserver log is useful, I think there is a segfault logged after init of synaptics (cannot review logs in browser...). Some more info about the device and the regression follow: hwinfo --mouse hal.1: read hal dataprocess 9464: arguments to dbus_move_error() were incorrect, assertion (dest) == NULL || !dbus_error_is_set ((dest)) failed in file dbus-errors.c line 280. @Timo Aaltonen I have noticed that you have just marked this bug as a duplicate of bug 579313. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 803610] Re: synaptics touchpad upgrade freezes X directly after login
Just seem to have resolved the issue by also installing gsynaptics (removed a few days earlier), now I am back to a fuctional touchpad in gnome. So it may be more a gnome issue (although unity showed same problem, freeze after login). So this bug should be closed, I will see if problem reappears. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760743] Re: Xorg crashes when a player plays a video - sync xserver-xorg-video-openchrome (1:0.2.904+svn920-1) from Debian resolve this problem
Hi, I'm using mythtv, vlc and was having the same problem with X crashing and dropping to login on prompt in Natty. I installed the dep package from the same location as Alessandro above https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- openchrome/1:0.2.904+svn920-1/+build/2484053/+files/xserver-xorg-video- openchrome_0.2.904%2Bsvn920-1_i386.deb installed and rebooted which solved my problem in mythtv which was when displaying the epg which contains an PIP (picture in Picture) which would crash X and drop to login. It's a bit slow at the display, but that I would put down to the Unichrome pro 2d/3d 128 bits Graphics onboard graphics being a bit low on power. During the research of this problem, many solutions detailed the solution to be change the driver name from vesa to openchrome in xorg.conf which is not possible when the natty upgrade has removed the file. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760743 Title: Xorg crashes when a player plays a video - sync xserver-xorg-video- openchrome (1:0.2.904+svn920-1) from Debian resolve this problem To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/openchrome/+bug/760743/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
