[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 808622] [NEW] ConnectedMonitor and UseDisplayDevice option for open radeon driver

2011-07-11 Thread Gepardi
Public bug reported:

Hi! I cannot find the way to force radeon driver for using certain
digital output with ConnectedMonitor and UseDisplayDevice option for
open radeon driver. These options are possible only for commercial
NVidia driver.

Is there some way to avoid monitor detection and force to use certain
digital output (hdmi or dvi) with open radeon driver currently?

I am using Mythbuntu 10.04 + enabled repos by Mythtv developers (mythtv
0.24).

Here is my current version of open radeon driver.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745304] Re: Graphics corruption after hibernate with Intel GMA 3150 chipset

2011-07-11 Thread Vincenzoml
2011/7/9 sasha1024 745...@bugs.launchpad.net:
Just as a notice: the described problem can be workaround by doing sleep
(aka standby aka in-memory-suspend) after resuming from hibernation.

I.e. the system is restored from hibernation, the screen is broken (only
the right 1/10 of the screen works). Then press Ctrl+Alt+F2, type your
login, Enter, type your password, Enter, type sudo pm-suspend, Enter
(then your password again and Enter again if your sudo is configured to
ask password), wait until it falls asleep, then move your mouse to wake
it up -- and VOILA -- the screen now works ok.

VOILA does not describe the process :) However, one can just close
and reopen the laptop screen to achieve the same effect, that's much
easier than logging into a console.

OTOH, I know these comments don't help but... is there any hope to see
this regression fixed in natty? It had been promised that it would
have been quick, it's three months already, over six.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 775936] Re: Render error with Intel GMA graphics card

2011-07-11 Thread Christopher Reis
I am fairly certain I was able to duplicate the issue in Kubuntu Natty.
It does not appear to be a problem in Xubuntu Natty. If it's a show-
stopper for anyone, and you are satisfied with Xubuntu instead of
Ubuntu/Kubuntu, that may be a solution until it gets fixed. I am
running Xubuntu now, at least until 11.10 or 12.04 comes out to see if
this goes away.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 800172] Re: Application keylogger vulunerability in Xserver

2011-07-11 Thread Sergiu
Closing this is wrong. Upstream is responsible for making Xorg work, not
for delivering a reasonably secure desktop experience, that is the job
of the distribution maintainers. Upstream is just saying use SElinux,
that is not the best way to do this, keylogging is trivial under the
current setup, Windows / OSX do not suffer from this. Under Xorg it is
possible to write a one-line command line that captures input and posts
it to a web server.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745304] Re: Graphics corruption after hibernate with Intel GMA 3150 chipset

2011-07-11 Thread Seth Forshee
We've had this fix in the proposed kernels for quite some time now. The
problem has been that there were a number of regressions in the upstream
2.6.38 stable releases, which translated to regressions in our proposed
kernel, and these have prevented us from releasing the proposed kernels
until they are sorted out. Normally it should't take this long to get a
fix released. Thanks for your patience!

This bug should be fixed in oneiric however, so I'm updating the status
there.

Please, let me know here if it works in 11.10 and/or 12.04. For now I
went back to Maverick and I think I'll just wait till the next LTS,
Natty was too buggy for me. Thus, I'd be interested in your opinion. :)

for the builds you tested. I don't know whether there's a bug for your

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 808654] Re: Failed to load session 'ubuntu'

2011-07-11 Thread FlexxxV
Hey,
I'm also affected. I did install the latest daily and updatet and now I only
can log in via tty.
to solve this prob I tried:
 * choosing different sessions
 * create a new user
 * startx from tty
But I can't get X working.
xinit does work, but of cause you only get some terminal and no fancy
windowmanger
btw. since this problem I'm also affected by Bug #807306

2011-07-11 Thread Per-Inge
I actually managed to install fglrx today.
A thread in the oneiric forum adviced to install gstreamer codecs before
installing fglrx. I used Synaptic to install gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg and
then fglrx.
This seems very odd, but fglrx is now working.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 585765] Re: Ubuntu 10.04 random freezes

2011-07-11 Thread Seth Forshee
Seems likely that there are multiple issues being encountered here, but
I suspect that if you have Intel graphics and see 100% CPU usage by Xorg
you may be encountering bug 599017. If so the frequency of the hangs
probably diminishes in maverick and disappears completely in natty.
There are some test kernels posted on that bug for lucid (see comment
#34) if anyone wants to give them a try.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 809017] [NEW] Wrong resolution w/ CRT Geforce 9400 GT

2011-07-11 Thread atari2600a
Public bug reported:

Running 11.04 x64. Worked on the same before, but that install was a
10.10 upgrade. I need 1600x1200, but it outright refuses to show up on
the dropdown list. I actually can't get above 1152x854 1280x720 of
all things. As a temporary fix I've pulled the card entirely
reinstalled (nvidia has a way of accidentally your boot cycle with no
easy fix so I really don't want to pop it back in unless there's a
definite fix). The forum was of absolutely no help so I'm filing a bug
report here.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 808654] Re: Failed to load session 'ubuntu'

I think this bug is related to Bug #807306 or even a duplicate. The workaround

the duplicate.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 800836] Re: Screen corruption upon login using dual monitors with Nvidia Twinview

2011-07-11 Thread Dazzer
I also see this problem with 11.04 and Nvidia 8600GTS on dual-screen config.
Nvidia driver version: 275.09.07

I also notice that the screen corruption appears to affect the indicator
applets - corrupting some of them (i.e. hp-systray)
This is intermittent however.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 809120] [NEW] Synaptics touchpad toggle area and LED doesn't work

2011-07-11 Thread Dmitry Cidious

area on the top left corner (instead of hadrware button) and the LED near it.

cannot control this LED.
Here is the solution:
