2011-07-27 Thread DiegoRivera
This bug also affects compiz - Awesome WM isn't the only one. This
seems to be triggered by multiple flash elements in open browsers, and
is a recent development (i.e. didn't happen when natty was first
installed).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 804880] Re: 3D graphics cause EQ overflowing on Sandybridge Desktop

2011-07-27 Thread DiegoRivera
This bug also happens when using nvidia hardware (GTX 580). 100% CPU
usage on Chromium when viewing flash videos after a while (i.e. youtube,
etc). Firefox is also affected which leads me to think that it could be
the flash plugin, not chromium or the video driver(s).

Also using a Logitech mouse - I've seen other threads where this is seen
as a contributing factor.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 815705] Re: blank screen at boot after upgrading to Natty from v10.10

2011-07-27 Thread boblinux
I have a suggestion : I looked at the supported hardware on NVidia pages
: for driver 195.36 (with Ubuntu 10.04) my graphic card 8600 GT was
mentioned :

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-195.36.24.html

However, for driver 270.41 (Ubuntu 11.04), my card is NOT mentioned :

http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-ia32-270.41.06-driver.html

card 8600 GTS is mentioned, but not mine.

Do you have any information about that ?

My NVidia chip is built on a Gygabyte card, I guess I will have to
contact Gygabyte support in order to get the accurate confirmation, but
this does not seem easy ...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 770283] Re: [fglrx]title bar does not update on non-maximized windows

2011-07-27 Thread David Raid
I have the same issue, though I'm completely unaffected in classic
desktop, implying metacity is not at fault in most cases.

I agree that the problem is with Compiz-decorator, it's also present in
gtk-window-decorator, but only when using the proprietary fglx dirver.

If you change your theme to anything that isn't Ambiance or Radiance,
the problem is made worse, affecting focussed windows as well. It's as
if the entire window decoration is frozen, not updating for any reason
unless forced through a resize.

However, in Oneiric, this problem now exists from the very start with
the open source driver and affects both Radiance and Ambiance. .

I think it's an issue with Compiz itself. Emerald as a window decorator

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 816635] Re: During upgrade of kernel - X doesn't start if you use nvidia

2011-07-27 Thread Dennis Nezic
I believe I ran into a similar problem, but with the older 2.6.38 kernel
-- (re)installing nvidia-173 wouldn't build the kernel module. It turns
out it needs the linux-headers for that particular kernel, to build :p.
I believe that's a bug in nvidia-173 -- failing to install the linux-
headers as a dependency? I didn't try reinstalling nvidia-current... but
I'm guessing if that works, it does have the proper dependencies?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 710762] Re: Middle mouse button no longer works

2011-07-27 Thread lazychris2000
I have a Logitech Revolution MX on both my home and work PCs (both
running Natty x64). The mouse wheel is not a button, it lets me switch
between normal scrolling and super fast, low friction scrolling.
Just because 2 button mice are hard to come by doesn't mean people don't
need to have this functionality. Disable it if you need to, but give us
an easy way to reenable it. I don't think it is too much to ask for to
have a checkbox or something in the mouse configuration that reenables
it. Manually editing the xorg configuration is an unacceptable fix for
this.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 696232] Re: Incomplete support for Apple Aluminium Keyboard

2011-07-27 Thread Damien Ciabrini
The xprop seems to indicate that the XKB config took a fallback path,
pc105 instead of the applealu_iso you specified in Gnome. This issue
looks different from that of comment #4.

Could you please elaborate on I can't install xkeyboard-config?

Also, concerning you keyswap issue, could you please install evtest:
sudo apt-get install evtest

start it:
sudo evtest /dev/input/by-id/usb-Apple__Inc_Apple_Keyboard-event-kbd

press the key labeled @ on the keyboard(next to the 1 key), as well as
the one labeled (next to left shift), and paste the output here?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 778083] Re: Switching workspaces does not always redraw everything necessary

2011-07-27 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
Hi Dave,

I agree with you that it has been very quiet in this bug report lately,
even though the problem still exists and must be affecting more people
than those who have found this bug report.

Anyway, a temporary solution, as stated in #15 and #16, is to copy an
older Ubuntu's metacity and run that instead of the one that you're
having trouble with.

2011-07-27 Thread Sven Berkvens-Matthijsse
According to various observations in this bug report (especially #15 and
#16), I believe this is not an X server bug but a bug in Metacity.

** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) = metacity (Ubuntu)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 751047] Re: Screen flickers at random times with nvidia 270.30

2011-07-27 Thread Manuel Cerón
Hi. I report the exact same problem described by Hubert. I have a Dell
L501x with Nvidia 435m. I'm using nvidia-current
275.19-0ubuntu1~natty~xup1 from x-updates.

One fix for this problem is to disable RandR in xorg.conf (Adding Option
RandR 0), but this is inconvenient for several reasons. Btw, thanks
for the resolution change tip.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-07-27 Thread l300lvl
Yes there should be a menu, thats part of my problem. It DOES let me
install that package, and one of the others, no problem. BUT, it removes
the touchpad section in preferences, and 'un-registers' it or whatever
you would call it, system wide. I.e the touchpad can no longer be
disabled in other applets where it once could, even upon removal of that
same package. So it changes something it shouldnt, or doesnt
register(insmod??) properly after installing. Along with no led and lack
of preferences, imho it doesn't work. It can install all day, it still
doesn't do what it should.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 817320] [NEW] Incorrect linkage for libXxf86vm.so libXcursor.so

2011-07-27 Thread Michael Roberts
Public bug reported:

These two libs are installed by the package manager on Natty; however, there
are not linked in a default (non version point) manner, so various X.org using
programs fail to compile properly. Notable example: CEGUI-0.7.5 (latest point
version).

The following further describes the problem, and makes a local
resolution:

cd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu
sudo ln -s libXcursor.so.1 libXcursor.so -- so.1 not symlinked to .so
sudo ln -s libXxf86vm.so.1 libXxf86vm.so -- ditto

Source using these two libs will them compile correctly.
