[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
I have now tested a bit Cedrick Schieli's Nvidia-96 driver in Natty and it seems mostly to work OK, BUT: Now I have a problem with changing workspaces (bottom right corner of the screen). When clicking one of the squares, I may get a new workspace or not and if I do, the number of the workspace may be any one of the four even when clicking the same square. Also changing to a new workspace doesn't go smoothly - it seems Ubuntu is trying several times to show the new screen before it succeeds (if it does at all). The display flickers back and forth between workspaces several times before settling to one of them - not necessarily the one I wanted. Also sometimes the whole Ubuntu freezes when trying to change workspaces - even the cursor doesn't move. The only way out then is to turn the power off from the computer. Now, I cannot tell if this is because of the new driver, or does something else cause it, but this started after installation of Cedrick's software. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/741930 Title: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/741930/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670790] Re: Xv / XVideo accelerated video width is limited by / depending on the screen resolution on S3 Savage, but only if the laptop LCD is the primary screen
Hello Tormod, while looking at the code again, I start getting some evidence that the +7 offset addition really is related to panels with a horizontal hardware resolution of 1400 pixels. I ran doxygen over some old versions of the savage driver to dig into the history and possible changes to the worse. Namely I took version 1.1.26 and 1.1.27. The interesting version is 1.1.26, which has a rather different structure in the expansion code (but the same main bug not to scale the lower right corner of the drawing area). Here the addition of +7 to the offset is handled completely conditional. At a first glance, it seems to be dependent on two values, the panel width and the selected scaling factors. At a second look, I start getting the opinion that it is only related to the width as it is likely that certain scaling factors are exclusive to this display width. Whenever the width of the display is checked within a scaling factor condition, the +7 only gets added when the width equals 1400. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 817505] [NEW] After upgrade all text is rotated 180 deg around X axis
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My installed packages are as attached. I'm pretty sure the morning of July 26 my system was upgraded. Apparently successfully. I shutdown the system. then returned in the evening. When it rebooted all text looked rotated 180 degrees around the X axis (left-right in the plane of the screen). The text is drawn where it should be for most things. The login menu is normal, but after logging in everything is rotated. Menus were drawn so the text for the top item was really at the bottom of the menu, but you had to click where it should have been drawn. The whole menu was top to bottom reversed. I submitted a bug report using the nvidia tool. It created a file, and I'm uploading that. It is the only thing I have that may hold a clue. They replied and gave me a series of steps to follow. What worked was for me to remove the following packages: bumblebee, ubuntu-desktop, nvidia-common, nvidia-current, nvidia-settings. I had to do this from the a console after stop gdm. Then the display was normal. Reinstalling the same packages again succeeded and all is normal again. I've observed this behaviour on a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 tablet running Ubuntu 11.04 with version 1:0.10.11-0ubuntu4 of 1:0.10.11-0ubuntu4. ** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/818274 Title: xsetwacom ccw rotates clockwise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/818274/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 787781] Re: Touch screen does not work with single finger touch, Lenovo x220 tablet
I just installed Oneiric with todays latest updates on my x220 tablet, as well as the utouch related packages. The touchscreen worked fine with the pen device, but acted like a large touchpad when using my finger. I followed the steps in entry #29 in this ubuntu forum thread: http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1785015page=3 and now it works. The summary of steps is: 1) downloaded xf86-input-wacom-0.11.1.tar.bz2 (the latest) 2) run `./configure --prefix=/usr` to make sure things are installed in the right places 3) modify conf/50-wacom.conf according to the forum entry to include ISD-V4 in the MatchProduct line 4) ran a make/make install, and rebooted. Before trying this, I simply tried adding ISD-V4 to 50-wacom.conf in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d and copying over to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d, and that didn't do anything. I'm thinking, but can't confirm, that we may just need to update our version to match upstream. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: Confirmed = Invalid ** Changed in: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu Oneiric) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787781 Title: Touch screen does not work with single finger touch, Lenovo x220 tablet To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/787781/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
Cedric, thanks for the tip about purging xorg-edgers ppa. (ppa-purge didn't actually downgrade the packages, but I marked them all manually and downgraded them.) It worked, and I have the nvidia driver working properly on reboot. The only thing wrong that I can see is that Jockey says, No proprietary drivers are in use on this system, and doesn't give the option to switch to a non-proprietary driver. Anyway, thanks very much for getting the nvidia driver packaged so quickly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
Everything is working great for me now. After installing nvidia-glx-96 dual monitor with desktop effects and no problems, plus much less cpu load then nouveau. But I was hoping that this driver would allow me to try unity. and after running /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p It still say no to GL fragment program and GL framebuffer object. Are these issues that can be resolved with xorg.conf setting or is my hardware insufficient?
