Hi Seth, I tested this kernel on a Samsung QX410 with Elantech touchpad, kernel version as follows: Linux version 2.6.38-11-generic (root@tangerine) (gcc version 4.5.2 (Ubuntu/Linaro 4.5.2-8ubuntu4) ) #48~lp681904v201108052202 SMP Fri Aug 5 22:16:29 UTC It works and feels very similar to the patch for #64 (which is what I use on my 2.6.38-10 current kernel), I tested tap-click and two-finger scrolling (vertical and horizontal) and they all work fine. FWIW, on this particular laptop I don't get the wobbliness problem everyone talks about. The patch from comment #64 is unlikely to ever make it upstream or into Ubuntu. It changes too much in a single patch, it needs a lot of cleanup, and the upstream driver has moved on to the official multi- touch protocol. I've used that patch as a reference for understanding the newer Elantech touchpad protocol and developed a patch that only adds support for this protocol. This is testing well for me on a Samsung NF310, but I'm not sure whether or not it will support the touchpads on all the models listed here. I've made builds for natty and oneiric in order to get testing on more hardware so we can find out. Note that unless you are using oneiric you will still see the wobbly cursor issue. In oneiric this is fixed by filtering in xserver-xorg- input-synaptics. I have no plans to add any filtering to the driver. The test builds are available at: http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/lp681904/ After testing, please report back which hardware you tested on and whether or not it worked. If it doesn't work please attach the output of dmesg when running the test build. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it seems that a package failed to install due to a segmentation fault in application being used by the package installation process. Unfortunately, this bug report isn't very useful in its current state and a crash report would be much more useful. Could you try recreating this issue by enabling apport to catch the crash report 'sudo service apport start force_start=1' and then trying to install the same package again? Unfortunately, I do not have anything more descriptive for you. Thus, I attached a video showing EXACTLY what was happening. I was assuming that if a picture is worth a thousand words, a video should be "War and Peace Unabridged"... It's just that simple. Install driver. Boot. I assume nothing, which is why I stated specifically in the bug that I was operating on an Inspiron 1122 with an ATI video card. That's pretty narrow, I think. But hopefully, the logs attached from #1 above will help further narrow it down. > 4. Negative... I flew up to Lexington specifically to do a help do a certification test run on the systems stored there in the Cert Lab. I've not touched this system since I came up here to do the 11.04 cert run back in April. In fact, as far as I can tell by the system entry on the cert site, that was the last time anyone tested on this machine. > Hope this all helps, and good luck improving your bug report. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 824099] [NEW] [EeePC 1001 PXD] Plugging in external monitor to VGA port makes both displays completely unusable
Public bug reported: Oneiric Alpha 3 installed on this system. Under testing, one test is to plug in an external monitor and ensure that external video functions properly. On this EeePC, it does not. (See photo attached to this bug). Once the external montior is plugged in, both the primary display and the external display are horribly garbled. The only thing that exists on the screen that's remotely readable is the panel at the top. The rest of the desktop area is just a mess. Had downloaded Braid yesterday from humble bundle 3. the game is in a .bin file and it didn't ran so made it executable in permissions but to no help, then did forum searching on installing bin files and found (chmod a+x name_of_file.bin and then sudo ./name_of_file.bin It will install the bin file.) It installed as root only to find out it will not run then went over deleting the file using sudo nautilus before deleting the files ran Bird and following error came up in terminal "Game Startup Error: Unable to set up graphics. Reason: Failed to initialize OpenGL display". Then added .sh to the file and ran it and installed it in the home folder but the game won't run. (I am running nvidia 9800gt with the latest drivers so my system is an able being) and have already contacted The Humble bundle guys and they cannot help because they claim to have short hand in Linux and asked to look in Linux forums. The game is uninstalling well by clicking uninstall-braid.sh also .braid file is being created in home folder This mean the installation is okay. So here I rest my case. - They have provided a debian package and Installed the game but the game won't + They have provided a debian package and Installed the game but the game won't run , I click on the braid Icon but nothing happens. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/822858 Title: Braid downloaded from humble bundle 3 but not running on Ubuntu 11.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nv/+bug/822858/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 823900] [NEW] package nvidia-current 270.41.06-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-current kernel module failed to build
Public bug reported: The problem ia possibly related to the package linux-lowlatency. Apport popped up during a usual update-manager-cycle. Sorry I cannot provide more details. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745304] Re: Graphics corruption after hibernate with Intel GMA 3150 chipset
Vincenzoml (vincenzoml) wrote on 2011-07-11: > "VOILA" does not describe the process :) However, one can just close > and reopen the laptop screen to achieve the same effect, that's much > easier than logging into a console. No (at least, for me), because in the "please enter your password to unlock" state closing the laptop screen doesn't cause netbook to sleep (closing the laptop screen causes standby only when already logged in). So, to make your laptop sleep after hibernation, you anyway should somehow first log-in (and doing it in text-mode is IMO easier). Anyway, nowadays hibernation seems to work fine for me. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745304 Title: Graphics corruption after hibernate with Intel GMA 3150 chipset To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745304/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
