[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 828893] Re: left mouse button ignored

2011-08-21 Thread Shaheed Haque
[ Seems SOLVED, for me at least ]

First I installed evtest (aptitude install evtest), and then by trying
each input device in turn [1], found the one that my Synaptics touchpad
was connected to would not respond to the left button:

root@shahhaqu-w500:~# evtest /dev/input/event7

Event: time 1313919895.138548, -- Report Sync

Plenty of right button ok, but no left button events. I disassembled the
front of the case, and noticed that the cable/flexible PCB that
connected it was creased and twisted. Untwisting the cable seems to have
done the trick. Then I remembered that for a recent memory upgrade, the
tech had opened this exact part of the case...

At any rate, evetest allowed me to see this was happening before the X
server.

[1] The numberig of the device seems to vary from boot to boot for me.

Hi Macro, have you had any further instances of this GPU lockup? If so,
about how frequently does it seem to occur?

Also, when it locked up did the whole system lock up requiring turning
it off and back on? (Sometimes there are fake gpu lockups which issue
error codes like this one, although your dmesg ends after the error so
looks like maybe it really did lock up this time.)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] [ubuntu 9.10] [ubuntu 10.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled

2011-08-21 Thread Alf Gaida
This Bug was still present in Lucid in 2011-03. ;) But this is not my
business anymore. Since 2011-04 i use debian with the same old bug. The
bug is still present in an uptodate X. The only thing about is - the lag
is smaller, but never gone.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 815000] Re: Oneiric X/LightDM doesn't start on an Intel GMA500

2011-08-21 Thread H3g3m0n
Not working, there's no /dev/fb0

I tried 'modprobe fbdev' and 'rmmod poulsbo' but nothing appeared
(fbdev didn't show up in lsmod either).

When the screen saver starts (i.e. before the flashing occurs), it
wouldn't occur anymore, as long as the user is idle.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771370] Re: [RV250] display is corrupted

2011-08-21 Thread Glen Colquhoun
Solved.
I reinstalled 10.09 after filing the bug report.
Recently I installed 11.04 again and there is no evidence of video corruption.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met

2011-08-21 Thread GomoX
Any news on when this will be available? This is kind of a deal breaker
for quite a big user base. Is there any way to grab the package before
it goes into natty-updates? I could not find it on Alberto's PPA.
Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771370] Re: [RV250] display is corrupted

2011-08-21 Thread Stefan Nagy
Since my problem is still present, I'm going back to my original report
(bug #766693) which was marked as duplicate of this one until now. So as
far as I'm concerned this bug can be closed…

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 766693] Re: [RV250] Screen artifacts

2011-08-21 Thread Stefan Nagy
I marked this bug as duplicate of bug #771370 some months ago but since
the problem of the original reporter of that bug is solved and mine is
still present I go back to this bug report – still, you'll find some
additional information there.

Most information is collected upstream (at freedesktop-bugs #36754).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661248] Re: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT doesn't work with nvidia-current 260

2011-08-21 Thread Joakim Lundborg
One additional piece of information: this seems to be related to the
combination of motherboard and GPU; I tried the same GPU (G260) on
another machine, running ubuntu 11.04 and it works just fine. My
motherboard is an ASUSTeK M2N-VM HDMI, with a NVIDIA GeForce
7050PV/nForce 630a chipset. (a bit ironic that the Nvidia card refuses
to work with a Nvidia motherboard =) )
