[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835349] [NEW] window shadows left on wallpaper even window moved

2011-08-27 Thread muenalan
Public bug reported:

redrawing of the windows desktop is not always clean. Afterimages of
window shadows are visible even so the window has been closed. When
dragging a new window over the afterimage, they disappear and the
desktop looks normal again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835349] Re: window shadows left on wallpaper even window moved

2011-08-27 Thread muenalan
I just found out that this is triggered through toggling guake (a terminal
window, an oneiric package).
It appears and disappears on F12 and obviously the desktop is repainted when
the window appears, but not when it disappears.

It does not appear when minimizing a window like nautilus. So it seems
to be more specific to guake-like disappearing windows.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 240738] Re: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad

2011-08-27 Thread N,N-dimethyl
Tim, try this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBootupHowto
(I don't want to state something incorrect :) ).

I'm still a little confused as to why using syndaemon is necessary at
all, though, when synclient doesn't seem to be affected by whether it's
running or not and has many more useful options for handling this rather
than a timeout. You guys are trying to avoid palm touches registering
when you're typing on a relatively small keyboard/on a netbook-sized
device, yes? I can post my xorg.conf for my Aspire One D260 with good,
palm-touch-less settings if anyone would like.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met

2011-08-27 Thread Albert Pool
Oneiric gets X.Org 1.10 so as soon as the updated nvidia-96 hits the
main repo, the problem is gone for both Natty and Oneiric.

As soon as I get time to assemble a computer out of spare components, I
can try my Geforce4 Ti 4600 card to see if the natty-proposed package
works on it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366261] Re: Synaptic touchpad lost sync when switch keyboard layouts

2011-08-27 Thread Ahmed Shams
Hello zburguy,
We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported
bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time
you reported the bug. So, please check if it still exist, then please run this
command in your terminal: 'apport-collect 366261' (without quotes), after that
it'll be forwarded upstream immediately, isA.
Oh! and the 'In Progress' status blocks me and will do with any developer who
may intend to fix it. If you don't have time to fix it, please just assign it
back to 'No Body'.
I promise to help as much as I can, as soon as I can :)

Thanks.

2011-08-27 Thread H.-Dirk Schmitt
Motivated by debbugs #626655 I upgraded the system with the xserver-xorg-core
package from oneiric.
Now it seems that the signal 11 problem disappears.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 418470] Re: USB Gamepad detected as mouse (Speedlink 360 style)

2011-08-27 Thread Mahendra Tallur
I'm pleased to announce this issue is *fixed* for me in Ubuntu Natty !

(xserver-xorg-input-joystick must NOT be installed, otherwise the
joystick will control the mouse)

I have some issues with inverted axis though, but it's a distinct issue
!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835469] [NEW] Swiss German keyboard bugs

2011-08-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hi

I have Ubuntu 11.04 running on my IBM T42 with Swiss German keyboard
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4f/KB_Swiss.svg
/400px-KB_Swiss.svg.png).

I have two bugs to report.

== 1
NOW:
grave accent (SHIFT + 1st key left of Backspace) + vowel = a`, e`, i`, o`, u`

acute accent (Alt Gr + 2nd key left of Backspace) + vowel = a´, e´, i´,
o´, u´

PLEASE:
grave accent (as above)+ vowel = CHR(133), CHR(138), CHR(141), CHR(149),
CHR(151)

acute accent (as above)+ vowel = CHR(160), CHR(130), CHR(161), CHR(162),
CHR(163)

(source: www.table-ascii.com)

== 2
With Alt Gr + 1 and Alt Gr + 7 I get a solid vertical bar in both cases. The
broken bar on my keyboard is on Alt Gr + 7. I have seen that Dell have the
bars' positions reversed. FYI, my HP EliteBook 8440p has the broken bar on 7
too.

Would you be able to reflect this layout by adding a keyboard item IBM
T/R/G40 series?

Thanks and regards

Domenico

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 240738] Re: syndaemon sometimes fails to disable the touchpad

2011-08-27 Thread Mike
tryptamine, I'm sure you are trying to be helpful but I'm not sure you
have a good understanding of this bug. If it isn't affecting you then
perhaps your hardware has a built-in system that handles accidental
touchpad clicks automatically. Consider yourself fortunate. Maybe
reading some of the duplicates will give you a better understanding of
how others are experiencing the core problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 663526] Re: X crashes on VLC open file dialog

2011-08-27 Thread Jiri Grönroos
vlc: Version: 1.1.11-2build1
xserver-xorg: Version: 1:7.6+7ubuntu6
xserver-xorg-video-ati: Version: 1:6.14.99~git20110811.g93fc084-0ubuntu1
compiz: Version: 1:0.9.5.92+bzr2791-0ubuntu1
unity: Version: 4.10.2-0ubuntu2

I'm having this same problem with up-to-date Oneiric. I'm using Ati 5770
GPU with FLOSS drivers so I'm pretty sure it's not a FGLRX problem per
se.

abc@xyz:~$ grep -i R600 /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[ 30522.986] (II) RADEON(0): [DRI2] DRI driver: r600

X crashes with any other Open... option than Open file... - mainly
with network stream. It happens only with Unity and Ambiance. If I
change the theme to Radiance and try open network stream, VLC (and
basically Unity) hangs and I have to killall vlc to get response from
desktop.

With other window decorations and gnome-shell I can open Open network
stream window without X.org crash but the window does not have any
options and the window is too wide for my 1920x1080 desktop. I'll add a
screenshot later on.

When running KDE all Open... options work just fine. No X.org crashes
and because of KDE, no Compiz crashes. With this information this is
probably a problem in GTK/Compiz/X.org/GPU drivers. Not easy to say.
Very irritating and one more reason to use KDE.

2011-08-27 Thread Valentin Crone
I have also this bug with R.A.T3 Gaming Mouse in Ubuntu 11.04.
I connect to my session (GNOME) and I use ctrl+alt+impécr|syst+k to do disapear
this bug.
After, the mouse is usable, but if I use the button to change the sensivity,
this bug reappears.

(PS: Sorry in advance for my bad english..)

v0.2 seems to be working on my nf210 with the 32-bit fix. I didn't test
everything, but being able to disable tap-to-click and have two-finger
scroll working is good enough for me. And having a DKMS package so I'm
not building from scratch is a definite bonus. Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576648] Re: package nvidia-* failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-* kernel module failed to build (Unable to determine the target kernel version.)

2011-08-27 Thread TJ
This is caused by a failure to detect the kernel version by the
'conftest.sh' script, which attempts to compile an incomplete kernel
module.

There are a variety of issues causing the failure. I've current
addressed the one that affects builds for 2.6.39 and later (compiler
should use optimisations else static variables are compiled out), and a
related problem where the nv-linux.h preprocessor directives won't
recognise v3.x kernels (tests only for 2.7.0).

I have working patches for both nvidia-173 and nvidia-current right now,
and have updated the packages locally. I'll upload debdiffs once I've
been able to test the built modules.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 775060] Re: Random GUI freezes in Natty (can only move the cursor) (might be a segfault)

2011-08-27 Thread Paul Tagliamonte
We have 14 This affects me too marks, and a bunch of comments
confirming this. I'm not ready to call it triaged, though. Can we get
exact steps to reproduce and a bit more work tracking down where the
issue is, exactly?

Marking medium - looks like an uncomon issue, but renders the system
unusable.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 762478] Re: [nouveau] No icons shown in unity launcher when using experimental mesa drivers

2011-08-27 Thread Timothy Alexander
Here's what I don't get. This is marked as the duplicate of a host of
other issues. Unfortunately, THOSE are not related to the nouveau
driver. Heck, I'm using an intel driver at work, an nvidia driver at
home (nvidia 8500) and an ATI card (FGLRX) and ALL OF THEM have this
exact problem. I can open trouble tickets for all three individually,
but as the others have they will get marked as duplicates of this one.

This is a serious issue that affects the default desktop in ubuntu, and
one that needs to be repaired ASAP for normal people to use it.
Logging out and back in, or even killing unity, compiz, GDM, and X
entirely don't work. Reboot is the only solution, and that only works
sometimes.

I'll get off my soapbox now, but seriously, someone needs to sit up and
fix this before developing anything more for unity (and having a serious
and catastrophic usability problem sitting open).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835817] [NEW] xrandr client truncates pixel clock freq.

2011-08-27 Thread Kevin Atkinson
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 10.04 when adding new modes using --newmode the pixel clock
is truncated, for example 119.9 will become 119. This is due to
check_strtod in xrandr.c returning an int when it should be returning in
double. This bug is already fixed upstream. Please consider adding the
following patch to either -updates or -backports, which every is more
appropriate.

Thank You.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835827] [NEW] Nightshade crash on starting

2011-08-27 Thread John Cotton
Public bug reported:

Trying to use Nightshade on Maverick (updated). Screen initially goes dark as
does the Windows version. Very quickly crashes with message
 nightshade: ../../radeon/radeon_cs_gem.c:181: cs_gem_write_reloc: Assertion
`boi-space_accounted' failed.
This in is libdrm-2-4-21. Communicated with maintainer Jeremy who said that
this error should not occur. Some upstream bug is doing something illegal.
Makes Nightshade completely useless.
