[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835349] Re: window shadows left on wallpaper even window moved
I just found out that this is triggered through toggling guake (a terminal window, an oneiric package). It appears and disappears on F12 and obviously the desktop is repainted when the window appears, but not when it disappears. It does not appear when minimizing a window like nautilus. So it seems to be more specific to guake-like disappearing windows. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xcompmgr in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/835349 Title: window shadows left on wallpaper even window moved To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xcompmgr/+bug/835349/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Tim, try this page: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBootupHowto (I don't want to state something incorrect :) ). I'm still a little confused as to why using syndaemon is necessary at all, though, when synclient doesn't seem to be affected by whether it's running or not and has many more useful options for handling this rather than a timeout. You guys are trying to avoid palm touches registering when you're typing on a relatively small keyboard/on a netbook-sized device, yes? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366261] Re: Synaptic touchpad lost sync when switch keyboard layouts
Hello zburguy, We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug. So, please check if it still exist, then please run this command in your terminal: 'apport-collect 366261' (without quotes), after that it'll be forwarded upstream immediately, isA. Oh! and the 'In Progress' status blocks me and will do with any developer who may intend to fix it. If you don't have time to fix it, please just assign it back to 'No Body'. I promise to help as much as I can, as soon as I can :) Thanks. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366261 Title: Synaptic touchpad lost sync when switch keyboard layouts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/366261/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I'm using Ati 5770 GPU with FLOSS drivers so I'm pretty sure it's not a FGLRX problem per se. abc@xyz:~$ grep -i R600 /var/log/Xorg.0.log [ 30522.986] (II) RADEON(0): [DRI2] DRI driver: r600 X crashes with any other Open... option than Open file... - mainly with network stream. It happens only with Unity and Ambiance. If I change the theme to Radiance and try open network stream, VLC (and basically Unity) hangs and I have to killall vlc to get response from desktop. With other window decorations and gnome-shell I can open Open network stream window without X.org crash but the window does not have any options and the window is too wide for my 1920x1080 desktop. I'll add a screenshot later on. When running KDE all Open... options work just fine. No X.org crashes and because of KDE, no Compiz crashes. With this information this is probably a problem in GTK/Compiz/X.org/GPU drivers. Not easy to say. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 576648] Re: package nvidia-* failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-* kernel module failed to build (Unable to determine the target kernel version.)
This is caused by a failure to detect the kernel version by the 'conftest.sh' script, which attempts to compile an incomplete kernel module. There are a variety of issues causing the failure. I've current addressed the one that affects builds for 2.6.39 and later (compiler should use optimisations else static variables are compiled out), and a related problem where the nv-linux.h preprocessor directives won't recognise v3.x kernels (tests only for 2.7.0). I have working patches for both nvidia-173 and nvidia-current right now, and have updated the packages locally. I'll upload debdiffs once I've been able to test the built modules. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/576648 Title: package nvidia-* failed to install/upgrade: nvidia-* kernel module failed to build (Unable to determine the target kernel version.) [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 762478] Re: [nouveau] No icons shown in unity launcher when using experimental mesa drivers
Here's what I don't get. This is marked as the duplicate of a host of other issues. Unfortunately, THOSE are not related to the nouveau driver. Heck, I'm using an intel driver at work, an nvidia driver at home (nvidia 8500) and an ATI card (FGLRX) and ALL OF THEM have this exact problem. I can open trouble tickets for all three individually, but as the others have they will get marked as duplicates of this one. This is a serious issue that affects the default desktop in ubuntu, and one that needs to be repaired ASAP for normal people to use it. Logging out and back in, or even killing unity, compiz, GDM, and X entirely don't work. Reboot is the only solution, and that only works sometimes. I'll get off my soapbox now, but seriously, someone needs to sit up and fix this before developing anything more for unity (and having a serious and catastrophic usability problem sitting open). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/762478 Title: [nouveau] No icons shown in unity launcher when using experimental mesa drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/762478/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835827] [NEW] Nightshade crash on starting
Public bug reported: Trying to use Nightshade on Maverick (updated). Screen initially goes dark as does the Windows version. Very quickly crashes with message nightshade: ../../radeon/radeon_cs_gem.c:181: cs_gem_write_reloc: Assertion `boi-space_accounted' failed. This in is libdrm-2-4-21. Communicated with maintainer Jeremy who said that this error should not occur. Some upstream bug is doing something illegal. Makes Nightshade completely useless.
