[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 833840] Re: synaptics touchpad doesnt enable after disabling from fn+f6 key on dell xps l702x. Even after restart just doens't work now.
Hi Amit, Thank you for testing and reporting. We have some work to do with this bug. * 1st, I need to check if the problem actually comes from synaptics driver, so please Alt+F2 and enter 'apport-collect 833840'(Of course without quotes :D). * 2nd: Did the command '$ gconftool-2 --set --type boolean /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled true' enable it? would you please check if that command really did set the value, using 'gconftool-2 --get /desktop/gnome/peripherals/touchpad/touchpad_enabled' what does it reply? 'true' OR 'false' ? if 'false' please use the first command to set it again. * 3rd: Please enter this command into your terminal: 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices ~/Desktop/devices.txt' and attach the 'devices.txt' file from your Desktop to this E-Mail/Report. * 4th: What does 'synclient -l' reply? Thanks and happy Debugging :) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/833840 Title: synaptics touchpad doesnt enable after disabling from fn+f6 key on dell xps l702x. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 837208] [NEW] System freezes during login after upgrade from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04
Public bug reported: I have upgraded my desktop from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04(both amd64) Upgrade was completed successfully. System was rebooted and I got the graphical login prompt. Every thing was normal for some time, but while I typed the password system got frozen. Mouse pointer got stuck and system stopped responding to mouse and keyboard. I tried (hard)rebooting multiple times, and each time the behaviour was same. I had not experienced any such issues with Ubuntu 10.10. After some search I found nouveau driver could be the suspect. So I boot up into recovery console, removed xserver-xorg-video-nouveau package and installed the nvidia proprietary driver NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-275.21 instead. This solved the problem and the system is working fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 837212] [NEW] Black screen after resuming from standby
Public bug reported: Updated from 10.04 to 11.04 couple of weeks ago on my Dell Optiplex GX620 (graphics ATI Technologies Inc RV380 [Radeon X600 (PCIE)]) with 2 monitors. I usually put my machine to a standby mode so I can just resume it next day and continue current task, but after upgrade it resumes to a black screen. When I press CTRL+ALT+F1 it shows console but just on first monitor only (normally it shows the same console on both monitors). If I restart GDM is starts just on first monitor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 831336] Re: running 'xterm' exists X session
Nothing particularly unusual I think... gfx card is a ATI Technologies Inc Broadway PRO [Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series]; probably most unusual part of setup is 1920x1080 laptop screen attached to 1920x1200 monitor. Definitely no idea why malloc would fail. This worked in oneiric until around when bug report was filed (definitely worked ~2 weeks beforehand, then didn't test for a week, then failed). It also worked in natty, although I just remembered that I was seeing the same behavior towards the end of the natty xorg-edgers updates. It fixed when purging xorg-edgers ppa, and then remained fixed on upgrade to oneiric. will test with gnome-panel/unity/unity2d later today and let you know. Am also able/willing to do any other testing that would help track this down, as its 100% reproducible by starting xterm (and I've also seen X crash more randomly when, for example, opening a new chromium-browser instance). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/831336 Title: running 'xterm' exists X session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/831336/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 837456] [NEW] [Oneiric] XTestFakeKeyEvent changes kayboard mapping to 'us'
Public bug reported: Typing with the onscreen keyboard Onboard on a system with German default layout immediately switches the keyboard layout to 'English (US)'. Touching any key on a physical keyboard switches back to the German default. This can be repeated indefinitely. Onboard uses XTestFakeKeyEvent to send key events. When switching from a physical keyboard to Onboard, the first call to this function leads to an unwanted MappingNotify event and the keyboard map changes from 'pc+de+inet(evdev)', 'German' to 'pc+us+inet(evdev)', 'English (US)'. Pressing any key on an attached USB keyboard switches back to 'pc+de+inet(evdev)', 'German'. Running any of the following temporarily fixes the problem for the current session: $ setxkbmap de $ sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration Restarting X brings back the unwanted layout switches. If I install the proprietary driver of my graphics card then start normally but the computer is crawling. With ubuntu 10.10 and 10.04 I had no problem. I am very disappointed with this problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
I have an old computer with a Nvidia GeForce2 MX200 graphic card, more than enough for the use I make of the computer. It worked well with Maverick. After Natty upgrade I could not start X, as stated in the bug. Following what was advised here, I activated natty-proposed repos and installed nvidia-96. When launch nvidia-settings it says I don't have any Nvidia driver. And it also doesn't show in jockey (nothing new for you). In terminal glxinfo gives an error, I believe I don't have any glx at all. I read in some post to set gl_conf to auto. I don't know how to do that, need some clue. Or would it be better to wait until it is given a final solution to this problem? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/741930 Title: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/741930/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
Added note to comment #103: Unity is now working with that NV25GL [Quadro4 900 XGL] and 96.43.20-0ubuntu1~natty1. It's a little wonkey as the left panel sidebar doesn't hide when a window should cause the sidebar to hide. But it is working. Thought that perhaps it is due to my install of unity-2d, so I purged unity-2d* and restarted the system (soft-boot). Now having issues with gdm (virtualbox 'Shared Memory Available' halt) so having to use login in Recovery mode startx to start. Purged virtualbox rebooted. gdm works again. Can start from the gdm screen, choose 'Unity' and 'Ubuntu Classic' starts. Compiz settings are screwed up, so I reset them to those of #103 (Desktop Cube, Rotate Cube, etc., has been unset. Window- decorator is crashing. Very odd. The odd part is that I was able to get Unity (standard not 2D working) via Recovery mode, so this indicates that the issue _may_ be with Unity/Compiz setup configs. I'll have to try to troubleshoot more tomorrow; in the interim, perhaps Alberto can have a look give me some logs/tests that I can do tomorrow?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 760632] Re: Resizing Konsole crashes the whole system
Can someone explain why the bug is not yet fixed? I think that there are plenty of users (at least 135 at this time) who would appreciate a bug fix. It is kind of sad if you have a more or less powerful graphics adapter and cannot use the desktop effects. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760632 Title: Resizing Konsole crashes the whole system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/760632/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 516123] Re: xvfb does not support randr
This issue seems to have come back in Natty. I see a slightly different error message than I have seen most people report(in regards to previous versions) RandR extension missing Trying to get this working in regards to a Minecraft map generator, which has a decent wiki page. Wiki page shows it worked on Maverick and Lucid, and then stopped working in Natty. So far as I saw, the upstream bug was never fixed. Perhaps a merge to upstream reverted this? Please let me know if there is something I can do to provide more useful details, but the basic thing I am doing here is: xvfb-run -a xrandr and simply receive the before mentioned error message. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/516123 Title: xvfb does not support randr To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/516123/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
