[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555641] Re: MASTER: max texture size prevents compiz from running
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 824099 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/824099 I think bug #824099 might be related to framebuffer size (plugging in the extra screen makes the display area bigger) and may well be the same issue as bug #789385, whereas this bug relates to max texture size. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 849782] [NEW] Screen jitters every so often, especially when laptop under load
Public bug reported: I have a Lenovo X200 laptop, and I run Unity 3D. Every so often, since oneiric, my screen jitters. That is, it seems to jump up and down like it has a nervous twitch. I can't reproduce it exactly, but it seems more likely to happen when my system is under load. I've monitored .xsession-errors when the twitch happens, and nothing is dumped there. I've also checked /var/crash/, but none of the crashes there have times that match the twitch. Chris Halse Rogers suggested trying, echo 0 /sys/module/drm_kms_helper/parameters/poll, but that doesn't seem to correct the problem. In addition, unity_support_test crashed while filing this bug. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. Hi Jay, 1. For more information: did you read this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/840462 ? 2. Did you read #12 ? Could you be a little bit more declarative why you changed this to invalid and suspect this is a bug in Nvidia-Twinview, why not Compiz or Compiz/Unity 3D? Like I wrote more than once Twinview works flawlessly in all other deskop-environments than Unity 3d (Gnome-Shell, Unity 2d, XFCE) - I am currently using it under XFCE. Problems I had with Gnome-Shell are not with Twinview, but compiz / general performance. So please until you do not file a bug in another context or really give us some concrete arguments please leave this bug open. This is the place where people will look for the concrete problem! Changing it to invalid is not a good choice, cluttering things up in more bug reports - that's my oppinion. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835811] [NEW] Alt + F8 only allows adjustment of height OR width (not both)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I have an unmaximized window open (say Firefox), and I tap the shortcut Alt + F8, I can then use the arrow keys to select a side and adjust its dimensions. But if I select down, and adjust the height- dimensions how I want, and then select left to adjust the width- dimensions, the previous height-adjustments I made using the down arrow-key are erased. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
** Description changed: + The problem here is that incorrect information from the NVIDIA driver is + tricking some software like Compiz into using an incorrect refresh rate, + which makes the whole desktop look choppy. + The cause of this framerate problem is the DynamicTwinView feature of the NVIDIA graphics driver. It appears to be a documented feature of the driver, and has been for several years: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/280.13/README/xconfigoptions.html (Search for: DynamicTwinView) WORKAROUND: (in /etc/X11/xorg.conf) Section Device Option DynamicTwinView False EndSection ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: Binary package hint: xorg My Samsung SyncMaster 931BF does actually support 75 hz screen refresh rate, but xorg lets me choose only between 50 Hz and 54 Hz. Modification of /etc/X11/xorg.conf does not help. xorg worked ok on edgy. Here's some info: $ uname -a Linux Xel-Naga 2.6.20-10-generic #2 SMP Mon Mar 12 00:02:49 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux $ apt-cache show xorg | grep Version Version: 1:7.2-0ubuntu7 The video card is Nvidia GeForce 7300GS.
