[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 854445] [NEW] Asus ep121 (eee slate) touchscreen not working

2011-09-20 Thread Chinook Piroh
Public bug reported:

The Asus ep121 touchscreen is a two-finger (at the time) eGalax multitouch
screen 0xeef:0xa001. It should function as such but does not. The pointers
movement and position are relative and not absolute, like a giant laptop
touchpad. The hardware logs say it is a touchpad and load the Synaptics module
for it.
Touching the screen causes a constant mouse wheel up issue as well as
removing the ability to click even with a real mouse. The computer is unusable
in this state until rebooted.
There are a number of workarounds for other eGalax touchscreens such as
http://samiux.blogspot.com/2011/04/howto-ubuntu-1104-on-gigabyte-touchnote.html
but nothing works.

These issues occur on 10.10, 11.04, and the 11.10 beta released sept. 1.
In the 11.10 beta, blacklisting the synaptics module allows the
touchscreen to work with absolute coordinates but bad calibration. It
also registers a constant left mouse button pressed event after being
touched.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 854500] Re: Only Unity2D running, normal unity was fine in Natty

2011-09-20 Thread lusepuster
** Description changed:

So, this might have to do with some previous tinkering I've done with my
system; during the Natty cycle I have, among other things, had Gnome3 installed
from the Gnome-team PPA, and also once followed a now-forgotten instruction to
disable the NVidia graphics card and sololy run on the Intel card (Dual
graphics card setup is the only really annoying shortcoming in Ubuntu compared
to Win 7).
Anyway, in the login menu I have different options, including Ubuntu,
Ubuntu 2D and Ubuntu Netbook Edition.

Since 10. September xorg-edgers PPA has xorg-server 1.11 which is not
compatible with fglrx (for now). Try without the PPA

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-09-20 Thread Raedwulf
Neat, some progress! I've started do have a look at this problem too and have
patched Qemu to allow direct communication with /dev/serio_raw devices.
This could be useful to whoever else has affected hardware and wants to
communicate with the windows drivers (tested with Windows XP guest), and log it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799202] Re: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core

2011-09-20 Thread Jussi Pakkanen
A new Qt version consisting of current packaged code + the valuator
patch has just been pushed to uTouch team's unstable PPA. Once it
finishes building (and there are no build failures :), please test it
out.

It is oneiric only and may eat your soul if mishandled. So be careful.

Some progress: it seems to be caused by the overlay scrollbars. Anyone
who still has the bug, can you try to start your application with the
LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR environment variable set to 0? For example to start
vlc, you would type LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 vlc in your terminal.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799202] Re: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core

2011-09-20 Thread j-b-m
Animitim, the uTouch Qt4 package is still building (at least from what I can
see), it is the following version:
qt4-x11 - 4:4.7.4-0ubuntu3~utouch1

So I think you don't have the update yet. Will try tonight myself.

It has built now. The demo app no longer produces huge rectangles for

However Krita does the weird stylus jumps now. Earlier it did not. The
jumps do not always go to the top left corner, though they do go mostly
towards the top left.

j-b-m : ok so I re-updated.
Now it's a bit better as my Graphire4 works now as the Intuos3.
But both still have the jumps.

And as Jussi said above I confirm that strangely the jumps stop when moving
very fast.

 Title:
wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core

Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

 Bug description:
Wacom input jumps while drawing with xserver-xorg-core version
 2:1.10.1-1ubuntu1.1
It is working correctly with version 2:1.10.1-1ubuntu1.

This issue is somehow related to issue #762938 (no pressure
  sensitivity with wacom tablet).

A fix for pressure sensitivity was proposed by Chase Douglas in the
  utouch-team/unstable ppa.

Using the official ubuntu Qt version, stylus position works fine, but
 pressure sensitivity does not work.
When using Chase Douglas's ppa, pressure works fine, but the cursor
 position jumps while drawing.

Note that the issue only happens when using the wacom stylus that is
pressure sensitive, not when using the wacom mouse that has no
  pressure.

As previously said, the jumping cursor issue disappears if I
  downgrade xserver-xorg-core to version 1.10.1-1ubuntu1

The bug can be seen in Krita, when drawing a line, the cursor jumps, a
picture showing the problem can be seen here:

 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/799202/+attachment/2174502/+files/pressure_bug.png

I can reproduce the issue on a tablet pc with touch sensitive screen
and a desktop pc with usb Wacom tablet.

At least 2 other users are having the same issue, see:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pencil/+bug/762938

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 854981] [NEW] Video/graphics problem.

Video/graphics not working correctly. Every log-on resets the dim on the
monitor and the display freezes ever once in a wile, like every 10-20

it does even in Chrome. I have Intel HD Graphics on my HP G62-a60SQ.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 854986] [NEW] 5 second delay between Xorg starting and the greeter starting (Dell Latitude E6410)

2011-09-20 Thread Chris Coulson
Public bug reported:

I've been looking at our session startup time this week, and I've got
one of the big delays right down already (bug 854101). However, the next
biggest offender is Xorg (when starting a 2d session) - there appears to
be a ~5s delay between Xorg starting and the greeter loading.

You can see this in the bootchart attached.

Looking at the timestamps in my Xorg.0.log shows a pretty big delay just
here:

[15.583] (II) intel(0): Initializing HW Cursor
[18.030] (II) intel(0): RandR 1.2 enabled, ignore the following RandR
disabled message.

18 seconds matches up perfectly on the bootchart with the lightdm
greeter starting.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-09-20 Thread Hemanti
Hi Seth,

I'm quite happy with your driver. As long as it works, all is wonderful.
Unfortunately, however, at times it won't work after a reboot (touchpad
not recognized -- no reaction of mouse cursor). The only thing that
helps then (at least most of the times - sometimes I have to do it a few
times) is taking out the battery for a few minutes. Then everything
works fine again until that problem occurs again. I hope you'll get this
fixed as you have already done an awesome job on the driver. If you need
any more information about that issue, let me know.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 661248] Re: Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT doesn't work with nvidia-current 260

2011-09-20 Thread juliuszM
Hi
I also have FL90 and this problem.
The last kernel I've been using without problems was 2.6.34. The next one was
2.6.36 and this one were generating errors. I couldn't load nvidia driver. It
was random, I had to reboot two or three times to start properly. Now it's
pernament. For quite a long time I've been using 2.6.34 kernel and installing
the newest driver from source and it was working.
On some web page I've found solution which works for me.

  echo 1 /sys/bus/pci/devices/\:01\:00.0/remove
  echo 1 /sys/bus/pci/rescan

After that I can load driver and start X.
lspci -vvvxxx before and after gives results simmilar to that from Thomas Keil
attachments

I attach whole lspci -vvvxxx output, maybe it will help

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work

2011-09-20 Thread Seth Forshee
On Tue, Sep 20, 2011 at 08:54:40PM -, Hemanti wrote:

I haven't seen this; I'll try to reproduce. Again, please provide dmesg
when this is happening. I think it would be best if you could provide
the dmesg from the first boot when the issue occurs. Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 799202] Re: wacom stylus jumps with latest xserver-xorg-core

2011-09-20 Thread Chase Douglas
My guess is that although we now are getting the right data into the
right properties, Qt probably is not keeping track of the unchanged
valuator values. So, if an event comes in with a valuator range of [1,1]
(which implies that only the Y valuator changed), then Qt needs to copy
the old X, pressure, and tilt values into the newly created Qt event.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 855124] [NEW] XRANDR operations very slow

2011-09-20 Thread Soren Hansen
Public bug reported:

Any operation that probes stuff over XRANDR is really slow. Running just
xrandr takes slightly less than 4 seconds. A bit of experimentation
reveals that adding:

Section Monitor
Identifier HDMI1
Option Ignore True
EndSection

...to xorg.conf fixes it. I have no HDMI ports at all, so this is not a
problem.

Only HDMI1 seems to be the problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 855133] [NEW] Xrandr probing slow

2011-09-20 Thread Hernando Torque
Public bug reported:

Starting with Ubuntu's kernel 2.6.39-0.5, xrandr probing takes a couple
of seconds with only one output connected (internal LCD of ThinkPad
T510).

This probing also negatively influences lightdm (see bug 828112).

Comment #11 in that bug report suggests to ignore HDMI outputs via
xorg.conf, which actually restores the behavior of older kernels and
running 'xrandr' becomes a lot faster (in my case it's sufficient to
just ignore HDMI1).
